    Thank you for this series! Helped me get it apart and figure of the problem instead of having to buy a new pump and motor! Now just finding where to order them from

    Instead of using a screwdriver to pry the head off the pump, a good smack from a rubber mallet will pop it off, no risk of damaging the seal or breaking the tip of the screwdriver. Thank You for the video I needed a little refresher course on the shaft seal replacement. I thought I was missing a step in the process, I was go figure lol, it's been 10yrs since my last rebuild. I forgot about removing the back to knock out the rest of the old seal. Thanks again!!!

    Great video - thank you. Would you consider a video showing an overhaul of the motor, specifically - bearings. I have a hsj10n that seems to Have a little bearing scream going on. Not afraid to get into it myself. But it would be nice to know what I’m going to get into.

      If it’s really the motor that is making noise then there’s not really much that can be replaced without specific tools. I personally took my motor apart piece by piece just to remove a fried dead snake and bugs making it over heat and it was very hard and time consuming. It will most likely will be cheaper to order a replacement motor from your local Gould’s dealer. But still save and use the pump till it 100% dies for some parts.

      @@mainelyelectric Hi Ben, thanks for the reply. I actually did tackle it and had great success. All the noise was coming from the bearing on the pump end. All I had to buy is two bearings from a local Bearing shop in Springfield mass- cost was $16. Quiet and smooth now 👌🏽

    Are you still answering questions about this video? I have a question about the seal in the adapter housing. One side of the seal is rubber and the other side has a white plastic. Which way is it installed? With the rubber or white plastic piece facing the spring?

    I’ve used a small bit of silicone spray for years when servicing my Gould’s J5S irrigation pump it helps a lot removing the spring shaft seal.

    Thank you for these videos! Would you have any idea why mine still sprays water while pumping out near the motor adapter? I just replaced the the complete seal and spring, and ceramic, everything....I was very careful....still sprays water just like before I rebuilt it.???

    I turn on my pump, it clicks but the motor doesnt turn, it will blow the breaker if I leave it on long enough, (10+ seconds). Dont know if the motor is frozen, its just over one year old has hardly been used. Any recommendations, thanks....?

    • @mainelyelectric
      @mainelyelectric 3 роки тому

      Sounds like something is jamming the motor. I would suggest you take the pump housing apart like the guy in this video and then see if you can turn the impeller by hand. Then if you can’t find why it is jammed if it’s not jammed then I would probably guess it might be your start capacitor. Let me know if you find the cause.
