    This is a credible review. Someone who has purchased the product has no need to try to convince the viewer that- as a there was no reimbursement for the review- that there will be no bias. Research doesn’t support that scenario - pharmaceutical affiliated researchers overwhelmingly produce research papers that support the affiliation company’s products. The conflict of interest is obvious and repeatedly demonstrated here. Thank you for doing this review!

    Hi Peter, new Sonos convert here! A month ago I bought the Beam gen 2, then added the Sub and then 2 One SLs as surrounds. Sounds great! Then last week got the Roam and have just got 1 Five for my kitchen/home office. You are right that just 1 Five is fine for just some background sounds while working and having the 3.5 jack feature allows me to connect my mobile, to play stuff that is not on the Sonos app. It is perfect for me, and like you say, in the future, I can always get another if I want a stereo pair for more serious sounds :) Oh and the rabbit hole is real for sure!

    I did the same test at home. I'm a person who generally listens more to loud music. The louder I heard, the Sonos 5 clearly sounds better for me than the two 1. When the music was more quiet, then there was no difference. But that's just my personal feeling. Without analyses, only from how good the music sounds for me.

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  Рік тому

      Yes, that's right. The Ones will stop at some point in loudness. And the DSP will kick in a lot sooner as the drivers and amps are much smaller.

    Hi Peter, Great reviews and explanations ! Thanks for that. I want some advice from you -
    1. I tried first a single Sonos one, the sound was okay not decent bass also, my question is if two sonos ones are paired, do the bass improves ? If yes, how much in percentage?
    2. How is the Sonos Beam bass ?? If I buy beam plus 2 ones, will it be satisfactory for movies ? As sonos sub is quite expensive so...
    3. I bought one Sonos five, i am happy with the great sound and i used aux for tv , the (75ms) delay is fine for me. Now I am confused should I get another Sonos five n pair it and enjoy music n tv with good stereo (as single sonos five sounds from a side of tv) or go for beam+ones and sub if only really needed(due to budget). Please suggest.

    • @beyondtheclouds95
      @beyondtheclouds95 3 роки тому +1

      have the beam, and two sonos ones
      1. no, the only gain from pairing is the stereo separation and wider sound stage.
      2. the beam lacks in bass, you get surround sound which is "ok" IMO. The ones act as ambient speakers in surround mode and I found it just "ok".
      3. no idea, too poor for five :'(

    I like the fact that you give the answer upfront without forcing people to sit through the whole. Subscribed!
    What do think about distancing. I am in a situation where if I buy couple of sonos ones I cannot put them at 2places which are same distance from where I would be sitting. Do you think the five would be a better choice? This will be the 1st sonos I buy.

      @@PeterPee I found that video just after posting this. Had a pair of 3 plus sub, but now using those elsewhere in the house in two rooms and have the 1 as surround sound with the Beam and sub. But I’m definitely considering a 5 as my next purchase as a pure music source in addition to this setup. And I’ll place it appropriately so there’s a spot for a partner to end up with a stereo pair as money allows. Now I’ll just have to see where the wife will let me put those beasts.

    Hello. A very good video, but i am still not decided...i love the sound of the ones but also the bass of the five. I have a big attic (around 750square feet, it is a gym and a relaxing room) and I dont know what to buy for music, two sonos ones and a sub later or a sonos five and a five later...I like the idea that i could use in the future the ones with a sub for a homecinema setup, but also a love the sound of the fives in stereo. What do you think?

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  3 роки тому +1

      I am thinking that if you have currently are more focused on music than home cinema, definitely go for the Sonos Fives first! They are going to blow the socks off you for musical performance. And if you really want a home cinema setup later, you can also use the fives for surround!

    I have a Sonos One that I use next to me as a computer speaker in my bedroom. This speaker is good enough but lacks the "thump" that you get from a good subwoofer. And since it's only one unit, my right ear is left pretty empty (unbalanced...?)... I'm thinking about adding a Sonos 5 to the rear of the room so I can get some sound coming into my right ear plus hopefully some "thump" from the bass. Do you think this Sonos One and Sonos 5 combo would be a good combo?

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  2 роки тому

      It is a definite step up but it's not in stereo when paired across models. In other words, both the Five and the One will be playing summed stereo. Meaning both channels coming out from both speakers at the same time.

      You won’t have a way to connect the turntable through wifi. So your only change is connecting via the 3.5mm. It will be just as good. Except there might be a small delay which you won’t really notice because there is no video that you need to sync with.

      It uses wifi, which lets multiple devices control it and multiple speakers play the same thing

    Hey Peter great video as always. Do you ever get bass “popping” on the ones?

      I used to but I updated my system in the app and it stopped

      Oh! I didn’t get the bass popping on the Ones. Or play:1s. I was testing that extensively when the S2 platform was launched.

    One difference between the play1 and newer Sonos speakers is that the play1 can’t play 24 bit audio whereas the One and Five can.
    The argument on whether people can notice the difference between 24 bit and 16 bit is for another day 😅

    The Sonos 5 have google assistant?

    • @jarhead4657
      @jarhead4657 3 роки тому +3

      Google assistant works with it but the 5 has no microphones so you need to link a google speaker to it. Same with Alexa or Siri. I use a HomePod to control my 5's :-)

      Yep, no google assistant onboard. You need another device to interact with it as Jarhead46 pointed out.

    I would love to get a pair of Sonos Five but it's the size which is not appealing if I install them on the ceiling. Putting on them on a pair of stands alone at its corner is not appealing as well. Still declding! Haiya...

      Yes, I agree with you. The size is off-putting.

    Can i Connect the one's with the five

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  3 роки тому

      You can play them together in the same group. So yes you can play them together. But it won’t be playing together as a stereo pair if that’s what you’re trying to do.

      @@PeterPee Excellent video, so thank you. Further to Marcek's question here: Can you run stereo Ones and run a single 5 as something of a sub unit?
