It's stupid to sue really when the Ty teddy's copied squishmellows before build a bear..I have a feeling they are going after build a bear because they think they can make bank from build a bear
It doesnt even hold up legally (though wouldnt suprise me if squish could just buy past rules) you cant own the concept of a round animal. Itd be different if they directly copied a unique design but they really didnt. Not saying they didnt try to recreate squishmellows. They did, but it isnt even a unique concept

The loss of support has clearly got jazzwares desperate to reclaim standing and revenue. Maybe if they want to continue to have a good place in the market they should be more careful about where their money ends up instead of chasing ridiculous infringement claims, cause I sure as hell stopped buying from them
They got a Squishables store in King Of Prussia mall in the US and it's so fun to just walk inside and see all the little guys, I got some soft food cats from there. Loaf cat
I feel like Squishmallows is just a very shady company overall, not saying that other companies aren’t because there are MANY shady companies but something about them copying their fans designs and going after BAB so heavily doesn’t really sit right with me.. also it’s not like Squishmallows are completely new and innovative either 💀

Me too, I promised my tot that we could go to build a bear once we saved up enough for it. However I doubt that build a bear will have to close doors after this. I doubt any company can own the broad idea of round plushie toys.

My mother when she was still alive tried finding a sloth squishmellow, she had no luck finding one that was in reasonable price
Funny as soon as I had seen the lawsuit articles, I asked myself why didn't they go after ty squish a boos? Also build a Bear just released beanie babs, which to me are close to tys and the new wave of popular bean bottom plushes. So silly
As a squishable collector of 12 years I second getting some of their stuffed guys instead of squishmallows. For years when I talk about how much I love them people always think I'm talking about squishmallows lol. Also, if your willing to spend a bit more money and like more stripped back designs I highly recommend gund products. Particularly their Snuffles bears. Their 18in white Snuffles is with out a doubt my most soft and cozy stuffed animal. And, is my go to companion when flying. 10/10 would recommend both of these brands
That's crazy. But, one of my favorite plush brands is douglas. They have amazing quality cute/realistic animals, and i really like them.
I'm a Keeleco (from Keel) fan. Incredibly soft, cute and made from recycled plastic!

thank you for bringing up that Japanese companies have been making mochi plushies for years. squishmallows 100% copied a trend that was already popular in the plush community so to see them go after BAB is hilarious

I was never big on squish mellows in the first place. I did get this one axolotl plush at micheals that is called a moosh moosh and it’s just so cute. To me it’s more cute than a squishmellow

squishmallows tryna say build-a-bear it tryna "confuse consumers" or whatever... when BAB only sell their products from their website or in their stores except in very very very rare occasions where their store might be located in another store or something... meanwhile you can get squishmallows are literally any shop that could even possibly have plushies unless that shop only sells its own specific plush (like BAB) lol

I’m like” nah there overrated I want something different….” Then I saw this fuzzy melon from the brand squishables and omg are they soft …. I love her sm I named her felony (originally melony but my friends thought felony was better and cuter) and I’ve had her for a while now . And they prolly do sell them in nz cuz I live in wa and they have them here. And there cheaper

I just bought one of the build a bear plushies they are super plushy and arent like squishmallows at all
They use the same type of fluff that normal build a bears use so makes sense

If they had a really unique aesthetic to begin with I would be more willing to hear them out but the designs are about as generic as you can get, you cant copyright drawing a smiley face with two dots and a line.

they're not necessarily comparable, but the brand KeelEco has been one if my favorites recently. They're a brand that makes a bunch of animal soft toys, but the ones I specifically love are their Shark, Ray, Octopus, and Sloth. I work at a toy store that stocks their wild animal range, and they're honestly so soft. I'd say they're probably more comparable to Jellycat, but they're way cheaper and honestly very similar quality. They also use 100% recycled materials to make their plushes, which is nice. Seriously though, the shark and sloth are so soft and huggable, I definitely recommend them

I didn't even see this bullshit coming from Squishmallows coming from a mile away. Honestly it's useless to slap Build A Bear Workshop and get away with their money which is flat out impossible I can only say that Squishmallows Kellytoys would end up getting somewhat jealous and angry 💢. The next thing u know Squishmallows pounces or slaps hard at any store for their own personal reasons. Squishmallows should just leave Build A Bear alone it's useless to fight them besides they too popular for little kids anyways. T.T

I’ll be honest I thought skoosherz was a ripoff when I first saw them. Name even fits squishmallows, and they don’t even fit with build-a-bear’s brand of making your own then dressing them up because it looked to me they’re pre made when I saw them in the store. Imo they seem lower quality and less cute, then again I have three of the squishmallows you showed when describing the new ones as ugly so to each their own :]
Edit: not trying to defend the shadiness of the company tho, just pointing out it does seem like beanie boos and build a bear are just copying squishmallows and making cheaper looking products and I just don’t agree with it. If a small company did it tho I would honestly support. I’ve stopped collecting squishmallows because of the CEO, his Zionist views and the fact I have plenty of squishes already
