I was about to suggest using wood glue to cover up the edges after you trimmed the mesh but when I saw how the lid sat recessed in the tank I understood why you didn't, so you could have a snug fit. Enjoyable video. Thanks.

I definitely want to try this but my new tank is 5ft by 2ft and has a ball python lol I know he definitely cant pop through that screen. Their escape artist in pretty smart to escape but they're not as strong to push UP a screen as you would think. His top right now is less secure than this. You are so good at this that you should seriously start making these and selling them lol I can't find anyone anywhere to make a top for my tank. I'm a girl and kind of dingy so this is going to be quite interesting me trying to do this LOL

Also I would recommend that you should use a digital thermometer and not those crappy ones. Also if the tank is big enough to house both of the leopard geckos territories AND if they are both female it isn't that bad to house 2 leopard geckos. But yet again it is not recommended to do that. Also I am going to make a lid for my leo.

Can you use aquarium silicone to glue wire mesh to the wood?

Great simple video, easy to follow for a smooth seamless design. On a separate note, where did you find the decor fake hollow hide for your geckos?

Thank you! For the decor, i actually made it myself.
      1. Use PVC pipe to make the tunnel
      2. Newspaper + toilet paper + glue to build the body (form shape of the decor)
      3. Coat it with a medium-thick layer of potting clay-sand mixture.
      4. Mould it anyway you like!
Sorry for the late reply, I'm currently busy with uni assignments :')
All the best to your projects!

Nice design. I have same type of aquarium (no plastic frames) and want to use it for corn snake or ball python, but I'm not sure if snake won't pop the lid open. How heavy is it?

    • @mikansdiary1772
      @mikansdiary1772  2 роки тому +4

Ohh i think it's somewhere around 2kg? But it depends on the size of your aquarium too though, the bigger your aquarium the bigger/heavier the lid (my lid is 2.5ft x 1.64ft)...
And also the size of the lower frame (how firmly/tight it fits on your aquarium).
Anyway, I don't own any ball python..i assume those big noodles can easily pop off a 2kg lid eh?

Mine's a mere tarantula and I'm sure it's capable of popping it open haha, let alone a snake. I intend to find a way to add some magnets

leopard geckos shouldn’t be housed together…

I understand and agree with you that generally its not recommended to cohabitate leopard geckos.
      But note that:
      1. My geckos are around the same age
      2. Lived together since they're hatchlings
      3. Sufficient hides and big enclosure
      4. Two females
      5. Monitored closely
It's been 2 years since i kept them, no signs of aggression or bite marks were found.

@@tzootzoo802 thats all u guys can say is i heard stories lol everyone has heard stories that doesnt make them fact. Leopard geckos live in colonies and regularly come together to sleep and hide in the wild and as long as they are monitored and theres no aggression it should be fine as long as theres no sign of bullying or fighting

If you can’t make a rectangular frame and staple some screen to it you might look into the “for dummies” books

Just me because I'm lazy I'd not make 2 frames, wouldn't shave off the glue and wouldn't trim the screen at the end so carefully. That will save big time. Just screw 4 pieces of wood together and glue the screen to it.
