- Darth Vader probably has the most iconic silhouette of any film villain. Vaders iconic appearance was scetched by Ralph McQuarrie, instructed by George Lucas to draw a tall and imposing figure. Did you know that the costume changes quite a bit throughout the movies?
In this video we take a quick look at the different versions of the costumes and how you can spot the difference.

The ANH Vader costume is menacing looking. The ESB with its shinier finish seems more polished and professional. The Ro is probably a good balance between the 2. The ROTJ helmet is too pulled back. Gives him a "shocked" expression. What do you think?
My favorite 2 are ro and anh they look as obi wan described, twisted and evil, the slightly crooked dome making him look enraged and a tad unhinged adding to his already imposing attitude where he lifts poor bastards into the air, Rotj always felt like a step back with the dome pulled back, it took the scary factor out of it for me, he looked surprised and confused, I dont doubt it was intentional with his imminent turn to the light side. Empire makes him shine like mad, I dont dislike it, I just miss the proper widows peak and obscured brows, also never forget the crimson eyes of rouge one, okay I'm done making runon sentences.
Wasn't it the ' widows peak' of the helmet that was shallower than in ESB that exposed his eyes more , it was mentioned in a video I saw
Honestly return of the Jedi's helmet is genius in terms of the story since Vader becomes more sympathetic and vulnerable, and the raised eyebrows make him look sad. every version of the helmet is perfect for how Vader is portrayed in each film, hard to pick a favorite but if I had to I'd say empire's version since it's just so refined and good looking in every scene from every angle.
Empire is my favourite vader suit but overall vader has got to be the most awesome, slick, and stylin' villain to have a menacing theme and presence 👍

esb was always my favorite vader and rogue ones vader had a little too much red in the lenses. if they had toned down the red in rogue ones lenses it would’ve looked far better
Each film had SEVERAL versions of Vader’s outfit, with differing paint and materials.
Stuntmen required different details (such as soft versions of certain parts) and even painted to fix lighting issues in certain shots… so it all becomes quite complex to nail down the exact versions this iconic costume.
Revenge of the sith armor is the best, empire strikes back is on the second place
I love the ROTS suit. Needs more screen time
The helmet is the let down , his head (mask) looks small for the helmet
ROTS is beautiful. I think it deserves more screen time.
Hopefully they use it in the Kenobi series!
@@strikerfrost7222 According to a leak (if true), Vader will be wearing his Rogue One/ANH suit. I hope that isn’t the case because I’d much rather see him wearing something similar to ROTS. It would also make much more sense in the timeline.

Empire looks great. Probably my favourite but ANH is a close second
Empire or Jedi. Though there's no denying the impact that the original one had and has. I liked how you could tell how his suit and armour evolved over the OT too. Empire is probably most peoples favourite, but in Jedi his mask looks so nightmarish and it's such a contrast to the burned, vulnerable man inside. ROTS probably has the most perfect version but it may have been even cooler if they'd used the original Ralph Mcquarrie sketch?
So, Rogue One and ANH are the only 2 films that have the tabard over the shoulder armor? What were the reason for the changes from RotS & Obi-Wan Series (tabard under), Rogue One & ANH (tabard over), & ESB & RotJ (tabard under again)?.
I’m speculating but I’m assuming that’s just the way the droid put it on. Because he only has it like this in that specific span of a few days. Maybe the droid got the order wrong. I’m sure there’s a more canon reason but it’s interesting to think about

I think ANH is my favorite, though it could be a tie with empire. One is menacing and the other is iconic. Hard to choose. Rouge one used to be my favorite until someone pointed out the codpiece on it and now I just can’t look at it the same

At 0:38 you say and the graphic shows chinguard however this part of the body is the shin bone, very different from each other.

ROTJ suit is my favorite especially during the first scene with how shiny it looked. I heard in lore Vader has multiple suits that he tweaks and changes as well as spares on his star destroyer so the design changes at least have explanations none of them sucked though I hated the red lenses in rogue one
The Revenge of the Sith mask looked ridiculously small for the helmet, almost like it had shrunk
Please redo this video showing how suit is in Obi-wan series and have cartoon like you did between episode 4 &5 on how the helmet changed

So that's why Luke didn't attack Vader's chins.
And with the Obi Wan series it gave probably the most decked out suit. The helmet and metal is extremely clean and polished, the black is the darkest shade yet, his chest lights now glow green to give it a more vibrant look. The helmet itself is more pushed down and angry looking. The eye lenses are iridescent instead of being one color. In close ups you can see the red peak out under certain lighting reflections. This definitely looks the most mechanical of all the suits. Imo its his best look and makes him actually look scary.
the hlmet in 3 and 6 was also completely black and not grey / black
I mean ROTS looks the best, lore accurate to the comics

I like the look of ANH beter but since rouge one is similar (not 100%) but beter made i will say is beter.
