The Monarch is the protector of the nation from politicians! The problem with democracy is that the people who get power are often people who will abuse it. The Monarch protects the people by having the power to sack the politicians if they misbehave or are corrupt. I agree that the Monarch is key to unity but not just within the nation. Just look at the close relationship between the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. GSTK!
