Well after listening to everything you have to say about string trims, I just came home with a 525LST. The decision was between the Husky (local dealer), Maruyama BL27L (45min drive), and Echo 2620 (65min drive). The Husky won because of your endorsement, the Echo has a cable shaft instead of solid steel, and the Maruyama is a completely new name to me, and was a little more money and weight. The five year commercial warranty really makes a confident statement though, so I'll always wonder. Anyway, I'm going to attach an hour meter and then go make the world more beautiful. Thanks for your honest, thorough and passionate reviews.
I have a fs55r 12 years and no problems, have the husqvarna 128ld weedeater 2 years is all it lasted, just trimming around the yard, nothing commercial, it's been nothing but problems, no more husqvarna for me.
I picked up a Maruyama and like knowing it has a 5 year commercial warranty from a local dealer. I have Echo, Stihl, and Honda as well. I’ve never tried a Husqvarna or Redmax though.

I love that you love string trimmers. I'm trying to decide on which one to get. I find your knowledge/passion to be very helpful to me. Thanks for sharing this.
@@exterminator1 I put in a generic carb but can't really get it to run the same. Maybe I'm not good at setting the high/low. Maybe I'll just order a spiral diaphragm kit for the original walbro and have to swap that carb back on again.
I like my John Deere XT120 trimmer, and my John Deere 12pb mower, they're just as good if not better than the high dollar ones. I got them for a great price used as well. They're both great, classic units that will last forever as long as they're cared for and they're easy to work on. I just wish the mower was self propelled on these hills, and my trimmer burns and shocks my arm, but I compensate for it. It's not hard on my back and hands and arms and body, just like the Stihl KM 94R I think it's called that I use at my buddy's farm when I cut his grass. And it's a great unit as well that I love. And it's great for farm work.
The obsession you have with trimmers I have with chainsaws lol. Although most of my users now are Husqvarna auto tunes. But ,I do as much land clearing and tree work as I do lawn maintenance.
Preach the truth brother.. thats what I switched to Husqvarna.. had them all. 128 is the lowest homeowner model. People think thats Husqvarna... my favorite is thev322l. Light great for ever day edge trimer..
I adjust my carbs when needed just like I used to my chainsaws (use all auto tune saws now) but I still think my 2620T has more power than my 525LST. Doesn’t mean I don’t love it. I do. I use it as much as the 2620T because it is a little lighter but Husqvarna post their weight w/o the head and shield. Echo post with both and without the cutting head so it’s not as big of a difference as it seems. My 3020T is a beast and so is my 535LS. Granted I usually pay somebody to weedeat while I’m mowing but my helper’s favorite is the 3020T. The 535 LST weighs 12.13 w/o cutting equipment. The 3020T weighs 13.9 with all cutting equipment and 12.3 pounds without head but with the guard. I used to run only Stihl equipment but now they don’t compare to Husqvarna and Echo in my opinion.
Question what’s the pros cons from echo 2620t vs 525lst in a echo fan but my echo dealer went down hill just bought haven’t used yet only 525l I like but great for maintenance but thicker yards bogs down
The only problem with the Husky is I cant put the Edgit Pro on it. I only use the 2620 and yes it gets heavy at the end of the day. 2 strokes all the way!
Great video and on thoughts from experience. We average two 2+ acre properties a day my operation is small. My nephew runs the trimmer while I'm on the ZT. I'm still working my way up, so we have two 122LK and one 130L. Still box store residential trimmers. But I started with an old Troy built trimmer with a 40v electric Ryobi as back up(was a gift).
When it comes to weed eaters husqvarna in my opinion is the way to go but I like stihl chainsaws for not having many machines with a primer. Great vid!👍
“I’m just a loser….. (silent pause)… I love trimmers” lol love it!! I have a obsession too!! I got the 91 and its been good to me other than having to open the tank to get it to start sometimes. Considering the 94 but hear a lot of issues
I’ve been thinking about buying a husqvarna 330lk to replace my 10 year old craftsman 4stroke that’s been pretty reliable. Any thoughts or options on that unit?
@eXterminator Lawn Care. Great video. Just picked up a 525LS this week. Without sifting thru ur old vids can u tell us what trimmer line you are using these days.
Thanks to all your great vids I now have the 525lst mk2 and the 525ls..my buddy was wanting one so I got the 2620t and used it just a bit and sold it to him.. I domt like the sound of thr cable but other than that it was great. Powerful and felt really good.. but I'm sticking with Husqvarna which leads to my next question and I may go echo depend on what u say both dealers are about 30 min either way I drive.. Which backpack blower would u recommend? Between the 570bts , 580bts and the 9010t?? Thanks
@@exterminator1 😯 well I reckon I will wait on the big boy coming soon !! I've asked around and been told that the 570 and 580 are pretty much the same in the real world, the 580 blows more leaves and made for a drier environment so to speak and the wind speed of the 570 what's better for wet leaves and pine cones and stuff like that. The reason I was asking is because I can get a brand new 570 right now with extra tank of fuel for the 5-year warranty out the door brand new for 474$and the 580 BTS is 639.99 then add the fuel then add tax I'd be well over 700$. I wasn't sure if they was close enough In power to save myself 300$.. ? But if you say they have one coming that's going to be the biggest and the baddest I'm going to wait on it if I can impatient as crap LOL or I may buy one of these two and then get the big daddy whenever it's coming out. When are they supposed to debut it? This coming fall?
I've always been die hard Husqvarna guy I think echo makes a hell of a good trimmer but not my top pick for chainsaws I love Husqvarna chainsaws over Stihl even red max is a great bang for your buck trimmer Husqvarna does last the longest other than fuel lines due to the new fuel twenty years my 326LX is still got its same compression ratio but I've ran the Husqvarna 50:1 Synthetic oil mix from day one in all my Husqvarna stuff
The 4 stroke Husqvarna trimmer I got I more less only use with my Diablo Blade with cuz the torque is best used with the blades I think especially on heavy brush and I only use 2stroke stuff on my string trimmers
Wanted to look for a 535LST, but I couldn't find any Husky dealers near me. Ended up buying a 131R and later a 131 bike handle. Absolutely love them, but I agree there is no low speed. Even worse, is the accelerator pump makes it so if you blip the throttle too quickly trying to finesse them, they flood out. I assume they need an accelerator pump, but it's just a quirk about the machine. If I have any real fine work to do, I still grab our 329L. Love the 131 power though.
@@exterminator1 yeah I've read about that too. I don't know just exactly HOW bad it really is. I've heard most failures come from running the strings too long. The engine doesn't have enough power to really pull that much load, and it isn't running at optimum RPM. Then the fan isn't blowing enough air around it to cool itself and they overheat and melts the gear. It's a chintzy design - no doubt about it. I don't know of a better way to do it though. If that part was steel or aluminum it'd cost 50-60 dollars to make at least with all the gear teeth and the cam grind. Sintered metal would be worse than plastic - it'd abruptly shatter and fill the engine with metal chunks. The plastic camshaft is 13 dollars and looks relatively easy to replace if it does fail. Some of these 4-mixes look like they've been through a war and are still kicking, I doubt I'll use mine that much or that hard.
4 strokes are either idle, fast, and faster! They make amazing edgers especially because the orange straight shaft edger from stihl attachments are 2 to 1 in the gearbox, so they're really safe and are COMPLETE torque monsters. They don't excel in trimming in my opinion. Great video!
I bought a 2620. Had to replace the fuel tank at beginning of year. It delaminated at the seam. Now I think the ignition coil is out. I can take it for warranty but it’s a hassle and I’m down to my old redmax without the power I’m use to. I also bought the 9010 blower and the hose is always popping out at the swivel joint. Tons of power but I am really underwhelmed with the issues. Especially since the stuff is like a year or two old. Blower was bought in September. Thinking about getting the husqvarna 525lst or 535lst.
Why are you having so many issues with that model? You dumping it in the lake or something I’ve never had one thing go on that model but I still use my srm 210
@@seabass22 echo is more reliable than husqvarna trimmer and I have the 525 and love it but it doesn’t come close to as durable as the echo trimmer line
running a Stihl 94R and a Husqvarna 525L atm... love em both and was not aware of the 535LST. Needing a big boy trimmer for some larger cleanup jobs that i do periodically and was looking at the 3020T from Echo. Glad I have a Husqvarna option in the bigger engine now as I absolutely love my Husqvarna dealer. Quality video with some great info!
Still liking my huskys. Nice, light and balanced. Only other trimmer I really want to try is the redmax 260 (same thing just different features) and stihl 91r, and 111r.
So what's the difference between a 525l and an LS and lst? I have a 525l right now but I'm thinking about getting one of the others to replace my fs55r that has been ran into the ground
I used to be a orange trimmer person, all the orange brands! But once I found Kawasaki string trimmers I haven’t looked back! They don’t make them anymore tho is the shame!
Could you compare stihls 4mix trimmer to a 2 stroke husky. I’m interested if you could measure the rpm speed of the trimmer head and see if there’s a big difference in performance. I had a husky 128ld and it seems like it trimmers fine grass better then my stihl km131r. I always wondered since it does rev as high and if the gearing in that head plays a part in that or if there’s so other design difference that does.
128 trimmers are pretty strong. An engine with valves turns slower than a 2 stroke.so 2 strokes win speed period.however 4 strokes have a constant power band of torque.2 strokes can't maintain speed under stress as good as a properly geared 4 stroke. Why they put torque heads on some models.males them competer better with 4 strokes and still lighter and less maintenance.
@@exterminator1 I did some searching and the 128ld has a max of 8,000 rpm and the km131r is a max of 9,500rpm. So in this case the 4 stroke revs higher but what they do not advertise is the trimmer head rpm. What I'm wondering is if the gearing in the head is different that even if the stihl has a higher max rpm that the head is geared lower. That is what it feels like to me when I'm using the two. The only way for me to find out is to get a rpm meter or rip apart the gear box and start counting teeth.
@@FishFind3000 maximum power speed is 8k. Watch how they list these numbers.they are worded by lawyers lol. So you are correct, you would have to test yourself.but no one i know has the proper equipment.you can get close but I mean accurate numbers.4 stroke have more power and take up and down twice per cycle. 2 stroke is up and down.thus the huge difference in the numbers.so 2 stroke doubles

I'm having a hard time timing my replacement 525ls carb. Think I bought one because of one of your vids. Well and it was a floor model and the dealer was closing out in them. Paid $300 otd with free case of synthetic oil 4 yrs ago. At the time it was close to the cheapest trimmer you can find of the major 3.
I have a Stihl FS 131R and I want something for the small stuff. I don't have a Husqvarna dealer close by. I already tried echo. My two choices are Lowes Husqvarna 525L for 350 dollars or Northern Equipment Stihl FS70R for 270 dollars.
I’m thinking of buying a 524LK with the detachable shaft. I like the 4 stroke and a local dealer has one in stock. My question is are the detachable shafts any good or do they suck and get loose over time? I’m caught between getting the 524LK and buying the trimmer attachments and pole saw attachment or buying a 525HE4 2 stroke designated pole trimmer. I’m just using for my house and a few of the neighbors. So do you think the 524LK is going to hold up over time or should I just get a designated trimmer and same with a pole saw?
I've looked at both the 324L and 524LK as well as their attachment system and it's pretty solid. about as good as any other like Stihl, Redmax, Echo, Shindaiwa etc. so you'd definitely would be getting a good piece of equipment If you decide to get a powerhead.
Hey brother I'm kinda new here. Found your channel after I blew up my crappy old Troy-Bilt 4 stroke and was looking for a replacement. Ended up grabbing a 128ld since I already had some trimmer plus attachments. Mine runs decently without any adjustment but I wish it was longer. Anyway been enjoying your vids I hope you keep em coming. I'm a Unicoi dweller by the way, I might see you around one of these days.
I usually run a 525LS and love it. Recently bought a redmax bcz260 ts. I’d recommend you try it, very similar to the husqvarna but with rubberized grips and their choke is like the echo’s.
Same trimmer.each mechanically have same part numbers etc. They do have their own identity parts.just as handles triggers etc..i may or may not have one.keep checking in.
I’ve noticed that the Redmax High Torque is geared different than the LST. The LST is rated at 5,500 RPM at the head, while the 260TS is rated at 6,261 RPM at the head. They also have different power eating 525LST - 1.34 HP vs 260TS - 1.27 HP. Also produce max torque at different RPMs 525LST - 6,000RPM vs 260TS - 7,000RPM. So they’re not so identical as one might think.
Hey I got a question for you, do you know if Echo uses a Redmax engine in it's 2620,s? Because both the 525 and 2620 trimmers have the same displacement. 🧐 I tried to find out myself but couldn't get anywhere. Was just wondering since ATR's recent vids on a 525.
Cc is a measurement of liquid.its how much air/fuel firs in the cylinder. The remax spark plugs are dead center.echo offset. So at least the jug is different. I'm sure the engine is diferent too. U can do parts lookup and see what engines are the same though. Idk what ATR stands for or is.

What would you recommend for a prosumer if only buying one trimmer…the 525LS or the 525LST? And why? I can’t seem to get an answer to this anywhere, not even from the dealers near me…
Lol, that’s what I just ordered today. But I’ll tell you my confusion , it’s the effective maximum head (output shaft) speed. If even the 535LST hits a bit over 8000 RPM, as do much lower powered trimmers. Even the brother, Redmax 260TS hits like 6,261 RPM. The 525LST has one of the slowest head RPM I’ve seen at 5,500 RPM Max (granted there might be something out there with slower, I just haven’t noticed it). This slightly concerns me with cutting regular thin blade grass. I know that I can always change the gearbox on it if it bothers me, and gear it back up to an LS or maybe even higher. And there’s other mods I can do to increase head speed…so I’m not super worried, but that’s why I had the dilemma, and wanted a bit more info from someone that had or used both.
@@BigBear-- inwould sell you my LS if you were close.head speed is more than fast enough. The torque trade off is worth it.the ls and all traditional loose power very quickly in thick stuff .the torque heads stay the same speed
I have a Stihl FS110 that’s over 20 years old and is very powerful, have never had a problem with it, but it’s getting too heavy for me even when using the chest harness. With your knowledge and expertise, anything out there that is comparable but a good bit lighter?
Husqvarna does have 1 4 stroke trimmer . It has a Honda engine. However I believe echo will outlast it. 2 strokes have only 3 moving parts. Sonits cheaper to fix. But i use mine commercially amd my echos never failed me yet. Stick with the top brands and they all last a long time.
A step below the 525LS. Slightly less power and without the solid driveshaft. May be other differences but those are the two Im aware of. I know Im not who you asked but just trying to help.
Correction the 525L has 1.21hp to the 525LS 1.34hp. They both have the solid driveshaft. The 525LS has the skid plate on bottom the 525L does not. The Lowes 525L doesnt have the heavy duty bevel gear that the 525LS has.
Depends on the pew. I have 500$ string trimmers in this vid.easily get a hand pew cheaper. But add the fun mags and it goes up.my other hobby is that but the longer pews mainly.
I disagree on the stihl statement. The old stihl days no longer exist. Except their chainsaws. They never been the same since epa standards changed and they switched to 4 stroke engines. Actually the best stihl trimmer was when they bought engines from redmax. That gave them their name. My 1989 stihl trimmer was made in Japan even. Redmax made stihl
223l has the most probably.stihl broke down since new over and over as seen on my channel.223 broke a clutch spring sooner than 94r though.both did.all the 94rs have issues.BUT i still like it! i luckily know how to fix all my junk lol

find someone who's passionate about you like this guy is about his weed eaters! 🤣 seriously though love the vid. i agree with the "zen" moment when you're trimming. what do you think about the 322L Husq?
That is your opinion. But since you made such a bold statement. I challenge you to explain in detail how stihl is better. Because I have decades of experience using and fixing small engines. Stihls best trimmers were the 85 which redmax made the engines in them. Then the 4mix is a hole new set of problems.
No contest. Taking all things into consideration, and my personal experience with both the Stihl and the Echo, I advise to choose the Echo over all others. Might have to pay just a bit more, but remember, "You get what you pay for"! Granted I do only my own yard work, and have been doing so for will over 25 years. I have tried several makes, with the Stihl for 7 years, and the Echo for 4 years, doing my neighbor's lawn, and using his Echo. With easy starts, the fantastic bump head, the dependability, and long life, I hardily recommend the Echo brand. They just get it right in every model. I'm NOT being paid for this recommendation, as it is totally from the view point of a retired Christian man doing the right thing! Pick whichever trimmer you wish, just remember that I have recommended only the Echo as the Best In Class and Performance, and it's quiet, too!
25cc engine is the same unless you go up to the 535 redmax is a lot alike too in some trimmers redmax has strato charged engines but no vibration handles like Husqvarna vibration free trimmers Husqvarna
@@harryerhart5978 no .they are the same engine that the 260 redmax uses.why the l is weaker in power.look up the part numbers.why husky bought redmax was for the engines.cc is a unit of liquid aka how much fuel to air fits in the cylinder wall at 1 time.doesnt indicate the size of emgine.as there are many larger cc trimmers with less power.

Preach the truth brother.. thats what I switched to Husqvarna.. had them all. 128 is the lowest homeowner model. People think thats Husqvarna... my favorite is thev322l. Light great for ever day edge trimer..
I like my 128ld though. Been with me as a kombi for like 7 years ish
@@exterminator1 I still have mine as a back up. Was my first Husqvarna trimmers..
i just found a 322l 2013 era and fixed it up, dad has 323l exactly the same, things are beasts
Echo string trimmers with that balanced shaft and the short trigger is chefs kiss
Great vid!👍

Thanks
580bts mark 3 from husqvarna. Now husqvarna redmax brand has the new most powerful blower ever coming soon
@@exterminator1 any hints on what the specs are? They gonna call it a 600bts mark 3? Lol I need to know haha
I've seen a few videos with the guard removed, how do you keep the line trimmed? Do you cut the line manually?
What is sad is stihl uses a PLASTIC can gear in that trimmer. It will fail. My 111 same thing. My old 90 too. I hate how stihl ruined a 4 stroke smh
@@exterminator1 In my area it's either Stihl or Echo if you want good dealership support. There isn't an echo comparable to the 131 unfortunately.
4 strokes are either idle, fast, and faster! They make amazing edgers especially because the orange straight shaft edger from stihl attachments are 2 to 1 in the gearbox, so they're really safe and are COMPLETE torque monsters. They don't excel in trimming in my opinion. Great video!
What model for red max and husqvarna weed eater do you recommend power and light weight
I can listen to you all day on trimmers bro hope all is well
Thanks man! Hope all is well your way too. Thanks for the compliment!

How would you compare the 2 stroke and 4 stroke Honda trimmers in practical use? Im very interested in the 525 or the 4cycle Honda
2 stroke has less parts. weigh less as well. i am switching to battery now
🥱
So what's the difference between a 525l and an LS and lst? I have a 525l right now but I'm thinking about getting one of the others to replace my fs55r that has been ran into the ground
LS and LST has a dif engine than the L
@@exterminator1 they have more torque than the l?
That is what it feels like to me when
I'm using the two.

So what is your top trimmer PERIOD? Power/torque combination good RPMs good sized gas tank?

And why? I can’t seem to get an answer to this anywhere, not even from the dealers near me…
LST

That is your opinion. But since you made such a bold statement. I challenge you to explain in detail how stihl is better. Because I have decades of experience using and fixing small engines. Stihls best trimmers were the 85 which redmax made the engines in them. Then the 4mix is a hole new set of problems.
Plus the power of a straight shaft like my John Deere and the Stihl KM 94R have plenty of power and run better

You should get the Stihl FS 131R. Super beast. 37 cc and it will run circles around any Echo! I have had a Stihl for 26 years!
