I always heard that once a woman becomes a nun they give up their family. They pretty much said it here. I always thought that was so odd because they are to love everyone yet they can't have contact with their own family.
I don't think that Merliss will make it as a nun.. she has so much exuberance and life.. and the nuns in the order all seem very low key and unemotional.. they have such a rigid controlled life, praying five hours a day, seven times a day.. even the whole time while eating?? And they wonder why no one wants to be a nun? Who would chose that? If more nuns could be like Sister Margarite, they might have more women wanting to come in.. sister Margarite is doing the real work of Christ.. out in the community, reaching the lost and hurting in society and making a difference..

Dear Lisa, I am an admirer and fan. I enjoy your videos. Today, I was touched by your comments concerning Sister Margaret. I am thankful that her service has revealed the love of God to you. Thanks for this video.
In all of the episodes I've watched Lisa has not once been disrespectful, condescending or snotty. She stands back and lets the people speak for themselves.
It is not a symbol...while the Bread and Wine appear the same they are transubstantiated to the actual Body and Blood of Christ. Jesus said in John 6..Truly, truly I say to you unless you eat My Flesh and Drink My Blood you have no life. Jews are not allowed to eat flesh or drink the blood of an animal together. They took Him literally and walked away. St. Paul said unless you eat the bread and drink the cup without discerning the Body and Blood of Christ you bring in judgement upon yourself. How could you bring judgement upon yourself with a symbol. That would be idolatry. Read the Early Church Fathers, the Apostles, disciples the people who knew Jesus teaching believed it is the Body and Blood of Christ.
As Catholics see with both the eye of the mind and the eye of the soul. The bread and wine is transformed to the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our dearly beloved Lord Jesus Christ during transubstation at the Holy Mass.
A lot of the rules are put in place because they are trying to run an institution and keep things orderly. In theory there is nothing wrong with talking to one’s parents but in order to run the institution they can’t have nuns running off to phone their parents constantly. They need them to be committed to the church and present not just physically but mentally.
I agree - is Catholicism really about God and Christianity? I think, not. It’s one of the richest business in the world. Any time an organisation tells you that you need to to wear a white shirt to church, special undergarments, your hems have to be 2cm wide, you can’t get married, etc, it’s most likely not about God. Why would God care about people’s silly, man-made rules? He doesn’t!
It reminds you of a prison cell because actually, the prison cell is named after the nun’s/monk’s cells. The Quakers invented the modern “Penitentiary.” The idea was that the wrongdoer would spend time, in penance, in the style of a contemplative monk and grow closer to god.
Linda made some really good points/suggestions with the terms/requirements to commit to the church. Especially after explaining how her love for God is deeper after marrying her husband. 37:25
Yes, thanks for highlighting that place. I think for women not sure about staying in it is very important (if they ever want a child) to get out by about age 32 or the chances of bearing a child will go down.
A nun doesn't become a nun immediately after you join the community. They take many years to continue to discern and years of formation. But after you decided and vowed to marriage Jesus. But you decided to divorce Jesus!! How do you reconcile this... I believe the ex- nun needs to think deeper about what she is saying. Is it like Jesus agreed to be Crucified but do not want to take the pain and suffering. Decide self giving is not what he wanted!! Like she says, someone left she felt hurt and then she did the same and let others also feel hurt, thinking, if everyone follow this way.... who is willing to be self giving like Jesus. Just some thoughts going through.. peace be with you all. ✌🏼
I think we get a more happier and mentally healthier kind of Religious Sister/Nun nowadays. They actually want to be there and are there for the right reasons. We need their work and or prayers to continue.

Carmelites are a teaching order. They have built orphanages, homes for girls and elementary and high schools. I didnt realize they also have a cloister too.
I have been told that in general those orders who wear the traditional habit are growing while those who have abandoned traditional habits are generally shrinking. Can anyone comment?
in your faith that is what you believe and accept. Other Christian faiths or religions see and accept the Eucharist as a symbol of the body and blood of Christ.

This was interesting to watch as I pass one of the mentioned convents anytime I go to/from my doctors' appointments or need a shortcut from one side of town to the other.
This makes me so sad! We can have freedom without having to isolate oneself😔There is freedom in Christ alone and being an example to other young women would have been her best sacrifice!!
its sad when you think that way what most protestants are thinking is its about themselves not about Christ Himself.. when the offering is life itself there is no greater sacrifice!! that's why i am really sad at the lack of understanding from you!
@@sgodbacolod5407 I am not a Protestant nor any other religion a am a Follower of Christ. He himself commands us to “Go and make disciples” in other words to be in the world NOT of the world. I respect the decision of these beautiful women I just say it’s sad that this is how they feel is the only way to show God their dedication toward Him. It IS possible to demostrarte that kind of love among others to see!
Loving god?? That love is fictional, it’s one sided. It only exists in their own head. God is not a person, god isn’t a real human relationship. “He” is a fictional character, invented by man. All cultures invent various gods, and it’s simply an expression of imagination. “He” doesn’t love you, because “he” isn’t real. Unless you believe that every other civilization and religion in the world is dead wrong, and your religion is the ONLY correct one. So millions of Buddhists, Hindus, Pagans, Muslims, they are aaaaall wrong, but your religion is somehow right. And you want to “marry” some Jewish prophet who lived thousands of years ago, who died and came back from the dead in a cave, to save all of humanity. Also funny how all of god is male, almost like it was all made up by men in power in ancient times, to help rule the masses, and to exert political control via the Vatican and Catholic Church which has TONS of money. But you think it’s all real, with zero evidence? And you sacrifice your life to “him,” and claim you’re his bride and he is magically listening to all the thoughts you have silently in your own head, called prayer. He can hear your thoughts, and simultaneously millions of others at the same time, because he’s so magical. Yet, he wasn’t magical enough to ever show a shred of evidence he’s real. And his “father” is such a loving God that he once got mad and wiped almost all of humankind off the earth by drowning them all including killing children, and plaguing people to punish them for not worshipping him right… what a nice guy! It sounds crazy. Like insane asylum level crazy.
So the daughter is leaving her mom with an $80,000 debt? Now that is immoral and its being self centered and her mom should not accept it. If my son went into the seminary and left me with his debt i wont accept it and i deffinitely wont be paying one red cent.

@@lilianhui4028 in your statement you are generalizing and assuming that all the Muslim women in the world and who wear the hijab are dominated ??? I really suggest you to be more open minded and do your search before coming here and redicilizing your self. Because this is exactly the kind of comments that result from pure ignorance
And by the way you better dig more in Hat is happening in most churches to most of these nuns
They surely are not " forced to join the coven but there is a dark reality they discover when they get in
And because they leave everything for Jesus their houses their jobs their families unfortunately they feel trapped and can't break free
If you ask me if this is why I think about every church and every one of them. My answer will be absolutely not !
But many scandals came out
This is a very interesting look into the life of a Nun, certainly I had no idea of their life day to day.
Another great episode - good job Lisa!
Lovely. Triggered me to write an email to one of my favorite teachers, who is a nun.
Carmelites are a teaching order. They have built orphanages, homes for girls and elementary and high schools. I didnt realize they also have a cloister too.
Most religious orders include a cloister. When they work with the public, they are called an active.
There are different kinds of Carmelites. The Order of Carmelites Discalced are cloistered. They were founded by St Teresa of Avila.
Marylou’s is lucky in her mother who loves her so much.
I have been told that in general those orders who wear the traditional habit are growing while those who have abandoned traditional habits are generally shrinking. Can anyone comment?
It's her choice of course, but I would be so proud if my daughter became a nun.
So would I
The consecrated Eucharist is not a “symbol” of the body and blood of Christ, it IS the Body and Blood of Christ!
in your faith that is what you believe and accept. Other Christian faiths or religions see and accept the Eucharist as a symbol of the body and blood of Christ.
@@starsrgood yes, I understand, but in show they were referring to the Catholic Church. In the Catholic Church we believe that the most holy Eucharist is truly the body and blood of Christ, not just a symbol.
Lol spooky
Thank you so much. I do appreciate it. You open up our eyes to see what’s going on and do you have an update of how these young ladies are doing? ❤❤ be safe everyone and thank you again for this beautiful documentary on the nuns lives😊😊
God bless them.
This was interesting to watch as I pass one of the mentioned convents anytime I go to/from my doctors' appointments or need a shortcut from one side of town to the other.
Puts a new twist on the long distance relationship.
LOL 😂😂😂

Amen❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The best program I very seen to Liza 😊😊
Beautiful ❤.
Christians need to take notes from Sister Margaret
Thanks for your really interesting reporting.
Follow your dream, but pay your debt! How selfish to dump that burden on your mother.
Lisa, I so love you .
Thank you God
This must break their parents hearts. I cannot imagine. Abandoning all family like that.
Why would loving God that much break your heart? I imagine that young women grew up in very devout homes.
Marilis seems exceptionally immature, especially saddling her mother with all that debt. I’ll be shocked if she sees it through.
They are immature.
This aired in 2012, as of now she has left and posts online as exnunontherun
So the daughter is leaving her mom with an $80,000 debt? Now that is immoral and its being self centered and her mom should not accept it. If my son went into the seminary and left me with his debt i wont accept it and i deffinitely wont be paying one red cent.
i know this is quite old. i wonder where those featured are now
Marilis is now @exnunontherun. She didn’t go through with her final vows.
@@dulciepulcie WOW! really??! im kinda shocked but not really. i was rooting for her journey.
I am saddened to hear that Mariless did not complete her vows. She seemed to have a strong commitment to Catholicism and to Christ. I believe that she will continue to serve her faith, but in a different capacity. Blessings to her for her next journey in life.
@@dulciepulcie Thanks for sharing that! She is still sharing prayers etc., visiting churches etc.
And now the big question…did she reimburse her mom for however much of the debt she paid off for her!?
