Cat & Dog is so iconic! It's so fun in concerts because the crowd also barks! And they still perform it in concerts up to this day!
Haha the first time I heard the english version, it definitely sounded like complete gibberish 😂 now that i've heard it enough times and my ears have adjusted, I can pretty much make out everything, but the Korean version is still the go to. Though I will say hearing them say "it's no coincidence, it's a kitty-incedence" in English is always so iconic for me and makes it worth it, and Soobin saying "baby here's the leash" makes me laugh every time 😂

Similar to you, i discovered TXT just after discovering BTS (but in 2020). When i first heard Cat & Dog, i probably had the same reaction...like, oh, this is interesting? 🤔 cute but kind of cringe (i quickly changed though).
I viewed the meaning as a bit of "puppy love/i want to be loyal to you" and as you continue to listen to their music, the meaning/vibe of this song becomes clearer.
As for now, the song is SO fun live. The barking started during their One Dream US debut tour and then due to pandemic, they didn't perform in front of a live audience until their 3rd Anniversary fanlive & performed it but SK crowd wasn't allowed to cheer. THEN, they finally toured with ACT LOVESICK but it wasn't on the set list. US audience barked anyway & they would perform it during sound check. It was then apart of ACT SWEET MIRAGE & it's ingrained to bark. Member’s even asked SK MOA to bark along 😂. It's such a fun song live.

Yes the lyrics are a bit cringy but yes this is my favorite song for them to do live! It's a hit at their US concerts. MOAs will literally bark at them haha. It's expected. I can't wait for you to hear more of their discography, there is a lot of evolution!
I love your reaction. Yeonjun has mentioned this when he introduced this song, this song about meeting someone you like but the concept is like about meeting a pet & the owner. Well this song is has a lot reference to the actual cat & dog
- butler-game. Well I dont know if it just Korean or cat owner refer themselves as "cat butler" rather than "cat owner". So I guess butler-game is like game between cat owner & the cat be like
- cat is more independent while dog is obedient and love the attention. So "I want to be your dog" is like "I will be loyal to you, I want to protect you and I love your attention on me"
- the phrase "you shine red and blue" because dog can see red & blue. (well the recent study said dog actually can see is actually blue & yellow).
FYI, this song is kinda moa anthem especially during concert. Yup ngl, we bark as our main fanchant.
