    This is NOT a composter. It's a dang dehydrator with an agitator that breaks down the cooked and now dry brittle particles. Please look up the definition of what composting is before you actually market something. For instance, your output will STILL NEED COMPOSTING lol.

    This is not a composter and Food Cycle Science is misleading people people by calling it a composter. Chopping and drying does not constitute composting by any definition. The product is still potentially useful, but not if you intend to actually compost your food waste as the drying process is going to make the majority of composting processes much slower. This product is something the composting community should avoid.

    People are saying this is not a composter I have my cat, dogs and electricity...blah blah blah, are forgetting this machine is aimed at people not really into composting and throw their food in bins. This machine might help reduce the food waste and dumpster problem in the world, and green house gases. This would reduce gabbage truck petrol and time when they are much less full too. Sounds like food after it has gone through this system can be broken down into soil quicker. Now it would be better if this machine could be ran on solar power panels, and food used to give back energy.

    Just use a big regular blender to chop up the kitchen waste. Then add the finely chopped up food waste to soil for bacterial breakdown.

    • @scrapsusi
      @scrapsusi 4 роки тому

      That's what I think about it. I made a test with a small blender and the microwave oven. So I did the job in 10 minutes. The cycler needs 3 hours or more! What a waste of time, energy and money!

    It seems to me that this machine is just an agitating dehydrator. I live in BC where we have prolonged rainy seasons so if I sprinkle this 'compost' (and it's not) on my garden it's just going to rehydrate and leave me with raw matter on my soil, smelling bad and attracting rodents. If that's the case I may as well just bury my raw veggie matter right into my garden beds and save the trouble. I think I'll go back to my regular compost tumbler instead and compost properly. Also, all that heat can't be leaving me with a very nutritive soil... the machine sterilizes it!

    • @CancerArpegius
      @CancerArpegius 3 роки тому

      Heat is good for composting but only if you put it under heat all the time and not drying it. Hot composting is much more effective than cold composting, and if they designed the machine to not dry things up it could actually possibly be effective for composting, in theory.

    So, it's not composting, it's cutting and drying... making food into something like a sterile mulch. Is that right?

    I am confused it keeps saying decompose but that is not what's going on here. It dehydrated and then crushes it up. Couldn't you basickley do the same thing with a food dehydrator and a food processor. Dry it then grind it up?

      It was quite useful because our greenbin was small and at certain period of time we had a lot of food waste. This machine can reduce the volumn food waste takes in the greenbin.

    Not really a fair comparison: 1/2 pound of compost in the Food Cycler compared to dumping a five pound bucket on a mound. I'd have to fill that little gadget up 10 times a day to get rid of all my compost.

      If you are really interested in disposing kitchen waste by composting in a smart way, I can give you a method. For trial you may have to spend Indian Rs. 200.00. I am sure that you will be happy to spend another Rs. 2000.00 to purchase requirements locally. No, dry leaves, no bad smell, no leachate, no worms, no fruit flys, no recurring expenditure, no accelerator, least investment , least attention required. I have already seen all the methods of composting in you tube. They are not useful to common men. Only some foolish enthusiasts may do if they have lot of time and some money. tsnarayan@yahoo.in or call. 9449025576, I am sure you will be happy to do this.

    I got some queries are as follows:-
    1.) Do we need to add any wormy composite powder etc... into it for faster result.
    2.) What about the pathetic smell which will come out from garbage?
    3.) For that do we need to put some other chemical?
    4.) Will it help us to compose chicken bones also?
    5.) Maximum how long it will take to compose garbages to soil.

      What Sam said and this device uses electricity (bad for environment). After using this device, you still need to dispose of it whether you're using it in your garden or giving it to someone. It sounds like you don't do a lot of gardening. You can save your food waste and give it to a gardener, they would appreciate it. This device is totally unnecessary and is waste of electricity and kitchen space.
