  • This time, I'm making some picture frames from some reclaimed barn wood. Picture frames are a great project that you can customize very easily, to suit your needs. Its also a good project if you've been wanting to try using and cutting glass. Just be safe and don't cut yourself.

Nice work. I do alot of these style frames and the best ones i have the material came from a 30 year old ceder deck i replaced.the wood was very weathered and the wide grain looked good. Some of the bigger frames i use composite deck screws to draw the miters together.

Love it! Simple, to the point -- I'm not even a woodworker and I was able to follow along without having to sit through a 45-minute video. But it would be nice if you did a follow up of how to create those splines for larger pieces. Also, it looked like the inside cuts are not the same color as the frame surface? That would have to be remedied.

      Here's a frame where I splined the corners. ua-cam.com/video/W2TdcUUHHHY/v-deo.html

Nice job Jeff. That wood is beautiful. Thanks for talking about glass. I am one of those people that is a little leery of using glass but your demonstration was nice and straight to the point so I feel like I can handle it now. I enjoy your videos Jeff and thanks for sharing!

Thanks. I felt the same way about glass. I decided to just go for it and it wasn't bad. Just be safe and you can do it. 👍

It's a Craftsman model. I've had it for quite a while. Not sure if it's still made though.

Nice video jeff. I do a lot of my projects in my shop with barnwood, as I have a very large supply. I noticed that you said it may be hemlock. I think mine is old growth southern yellow pine, but because we are geographically close, I am reconsidering which species it actually is. Maybe you can help identify it. I have a couple build videos in this playlist ua-cam.com/play/PL887xDBJae9MAA5YesDbgEO4cJ8SH_Mq7.html
