Memories Of Ice It’s interesting that the Darujhistan stuff was your least favorite part of Toll The Hounds and the andii stuff was your favorite. I find that usually people think the opposite. Even though it took me a couple hundred pages to warm up to Nimander and the Tiste, once i did i found their stuff almost as good as the Darujhistan stuff. Especially the stuff with the Bridgeburners. Probably my single favorite action scene in the series is one that happens in the middle of Toll The Hounds involving The Bridgeburners. And the last few hundred pages are just the icing on the cake for me. Truly one of the best climaxes i’ve read in a book. Honestly it’s probably only topped by other books in the Malazan series.
Nice to see your passion, 9+ rereads is nuts. I am currently on my 3rd read through. My buddy started reading it for the first time, which inspired me to do it again. i've already left him in the dust. When is start, i have to consume them incessantly. I love that I am still picking up things that I missed from my previous reads. I will be reading in a different order this time, mixing in ICE's books at the suggested orders. I am excited for the Karsa trilogy, but kinda wish the Kharkanas trilogy would have wrapped up first.
I'm currently reading WoT. But after that, Malazan is definitely coming first in my list of TBR. Although, maybe I will need a different series to refresh myself from Fantasy. So the other posibility is The Culture series. But Malazan is really calling my attention. Have you already read the books of Esslemont?
My top 10: 1-Midnight Tides 2-Memories of Ice 3-The Bonehunters 4-Desdhouse Gates 5-Dust of Dreams 6-Gardens of the Moon 7-The Crippled God 8-House of Chains 9-Toll the Hounds 10-Reaper’s Gale I am impressed by RG being your favourite one. It’s my least favourite because of his first half, that I think is the worst part of the series. But the second half is awesome.
absolutely loved the video!! I'm currently going through HOUSE OF CHAINS and cannot wait to create my ranking list (and to finish the series of course). there's nothing like this series in the genre
@@BooksRebound I'm back again!! I've finished MT and I must admitt: didn't like it as much as I thought I would. it took me quite a while to connect with the characters, I didn't much care for the Edur plotline until the expedition to find the sword, I still don't understand what was going on in the Azath... I enjoyed the thoughts on empire, politics, expansion, economy and colonization much more than the plot sometimes. I laughed so hard with Tehol and Bugg, they're phenomenal. Loved the scenes with the Crippled God, I didn't expect him to show up as much as he did on this book. overall, I enjoyed it, but I prefer HOC because of Felisin's heart-breaking ending, and of Karsa, I guess. I'm about to start TBH because I really wanna see how the plots are finally coming together
Books Rebound you certainly hyped me up, thanks!!!!! Omg, I loved Hellian in the prologue, I’m glad she’s going to return. I’m also looking foward to reading Tavore’s inner monologue after everything she’s been through. Make her shine, Erikson!!!
Books Rebound yeah, I’ve heard Erikson talking about her being really important for the endgame of the series. I just hope I get to connect and care about her before we get there

I come back to this list every time I finish a book. In a way, it's comforting that you've experienced what I am experienced & that I have so much more to enjoy! I just finished Karsa's adventure in the first quarter of 'House of Chains.' SO GOOD!!! Again, thanks for your awesome list!
@@BooksRebound He is really great! That's a great way to describe his character arc throughout House of Chains. (Slight Spoilers for character development) It's that subtle change from murdering anybody & everybody out of ignorance vs. judicially exerting punishment to those who have earned their reprimand. Karsa was enjoyable to read all throughout the novel (well, so was everyone else lol). I'm currently hallway through Midnight Tides, & I'm also loving it, even more that House of Chains!! Just finished Deadhouse Gates and that ten year gap is obvious. Soooo much better. Also, what version is that ASOIAF book you have at the right? I assume it’s another language?
Books Rebound Yeah, the ending blew me away, particularly Coltaine’s. I was amazed at how overwhelmed I was with his end even though there’s so little we really know about him. I don’t understand how Erikson made Coltaine SO likeable without ever explicitly explaining his thoughts or motivations, but I suppose the mysteriousness is part of what makes him so great. Also, loved Kalam’s finish, was super happy to see Laseen wasn’t just another cliche dark lord and was actually morally grey like the rest of the cast. I’m glad Kalam had an open enough mind to reconsider despite such a huge journey - I’ve never been so satisfied by an anticlimax. Also, I really hope Pearl is a recurring character! Can’t wait to return to Darujhistan, keep up the great content!
deadhouse gate is number one for me, but i would put gardens of the moon higher. i loved all the assassin stuff in it. i would love more assassin guild stuff, oh and thieft guild
While I don't have the time to go through and make a top 10 myself, I agree with a lot of your broad strokes. Your complaints about the bottom ranked ones are definitely things I disliked as well. Toll the Hounds and Dust of Dreams feel like such slogs and they have some of the grimmest content, even if their conclusions are some of the best in the series (like jaw on the floor insanity!). Plus Reaper's Gale is also my favorite, even if it does kill off several of my favorite characters.
