My biggest gripe about this wave is no new Archetypal Spells, the monsters are actually decent for once, and if Unchained in the TCG and Fire Kings in the OCG weren't tearing house and the Lab matchup wasn't still kind of a headache(not unwinnable compared to those two but pretty annoying and usually lengthy if you aren't on Bystials or Ashing their Welcomes), that Engage Zero thing would actually be kinda cracked. What the deck probably needs to be competitive now is more of its own spells with actual GY effects, or ways to recover banished ones that aren't gimmicky like the Sages were, that effect is actually REALLY rare and I can't think of many potential staples that can do that(Ariseheart is dead in the TCG and outside of Kashtira matchups, Necroface is mid, etc.). It's also pretty annoying how much better DRNM is than Droplet now thanks to Thrust making that a search option. Those three decks mentioned above float like crazy off Destruction, so your best answers to them are typically non-engine like Nibiru(which is a lot better to run now with all these "Chaos Links" and/or Ty-Phon you can go into with your 3k rock), Evenly Matched, other cancerous Normal Trap cards to search with Trap Tracks when going first(fun fact: the Link-3/4 and H.A.M.P. work as EEV targets for outing obnoxious Trap decks, and if you're crazy enough to set up an Amblowhale line that floats into the new Azalea you can set up EEV with that, though Trap Stun is fine if you're forced to run something a little more "fair"), and of course Ty-Phon(didn't kill everything with EZ and need to get it off the field? Got a Kurikara or Nibiru stuck in the MMZ after Tributing off a negate board? You can Ty-Phon now and Linkage/Tracks later). Yay staples. At least Triple Thrust and Small World make all of these easy to go into while putting more spells in grave. Having to resort to those more often than other decks does leave you less consistent at times though and they mean less room for Talents/Change of Heart copies so you're going to have to board pretty carefully(more as a go first/second pivot than for targeted counters). Cyanos means you don't NEED more than 1 Roze, but opening it also becomes a bit brickier since you're actually using it for setup more often now. You can actually use Chaos Angel for spot banishes if you run Bystials by eating the Roze in GY and then specialing it off the Cyanos GY effect from Banished, then pivot back to engine if the opponent's on backrow or can OTK through a 1500-2500 Atk battle immune Link monster that you probably still have face-up on the field after doing this stuff(you can also self-tribute with H.A.M.P. to put it in Defense but that's BIG DUMB outside of Tracks plays SPECIFICALLY and cuts off its floating effect too). Roze also triggers from hand off ANY Sky Striker Ace monster that hits the field(including the token), which is more funny than useful, though if Spright Engine goes into Camellia AFTER using Gigantic that obviously won't work. But it can make for some funny interactions if you have an I:P on the field for some reason(i.e. To make an Effect Destruction proof Temp Azalea and equip one of their remaining monsters for example). You really only want to use Temp Azalea over S:P that way if the opponent's on some strategy that floats off banishes or uses them as a resource though (i.e. Flooandereeze), it really feels more like a go second tool to force out more interactions while climbing, and intentionally crashing it in BP to get to Hayate if you still need/want a Raye or Spell dump has its uses.
Ye I agree with most of it. The support is nice sure but is it really like a deck defining thing like maybe what the new ritual beast support? Nope. It’s like really okie and that’s unfortunate in modern yugioh when everything is so fast.
This new wave gives me hope that konami will actualy print something to make sky striker great again. Not tier 1 or anything, just something you you can comfortably play without getting destroyed by the average power creep deck.
Engage Zero is the only one of them, which would be an auto one off in the extra. The other cars are meh in real play. Cyanos looks great, but you would require to many deck slots to use it. If she could summon Raye, she would be amazing. The Link 3 is just a maybe on the extra, but the extra has like 3 flex spots and there much better options. Therefore EZ it is the best one.
actually cyanos gives the deck a ton of consistency it didn't have before. you can just normal summon cyanos and thats already a 1 card combo to get to search engage going first and end on shizuku + multirole + anchor, but could be pivoted to also just dump raye in the GY instead to have raye + roze setup and end on shizuku as normal, depending on what else you opened. Its also a really strong send off hayate in the mid game since it enables 0 cards in hand recovery if your board is wiped.
I feel like sky striker needs more high impact spells more than anything. Spell that GET YOU THERE rather than helping you win when youre already there (like the bonus effect they have when you already have 3 spells in gy). Also more recursion and recycling, a in archytipe pot of avarice would go brazy. Often times when i break a board going second i end on NOTHING so im basically at the mercy of my opponent having no fallowup or topdecking a one card starter. Tho maybe thats just a problem with me idk.
engage zero definitely solves the issue of being unable to OTK because you didn't open raigeki + raye + linkage, notably linkage just cares about having a light & dark sky striker *ace* not specifically raye & roze, so you can do the full linkage line without ever having raye & roze since this thing counts as your light ace.

Every new deck has a 1 card starter now, if you go second and break the board they can just run it back and kill you next turn
