This is only acceptable if we get another HBO show in between. Why would they give us the penguin and then make us wait 3 years for a story in 2027 that takes place only a few months after the Batman 2022 events. This has done nothing but ruin the momentum that the penguin created and if he can’t keep fans invested into this world he created then it’s 100% his fault
I agree that the hype will probably go down a little bit, but once Casting news , Villain reveals and set photos starts coming out, the hype will be right back up to where it was. And that's like apparently happening next year too.
That is what Dan Murrell pointed out. If Reeves keeps going at this rate, Pattison will end his run only a couple of years younger than Affleck was when he did BVS
I don't think age matters in this case. He still looks significantly younger than anyone else who's played Batman/Bruce Wayne. He can easily pass for someone in their late 20s or early 30s.
Are they gonna produce the movie in 2027 or comes out 2027 ? If they shoot it before 2027, then Pattinson wouldn’t be looking so old. Plus he looks young anyway
In a span of 5 years James Gunn has written and directed The Suicide Squad GOTG : Christmas Special Peacemaker GOTG Vol 3 Creature Commandos Superman Peacemaker 2 So far all have been amazing, excusing Superman and Peacemaker 2
@@chadbailey7038 We’re a long way from that point. “The Batman” already happened and it was a HIT. Battinson was VERY well received overall-perhaps not by you and the rest of a vocal minority, but box office and streaming receipts suggest that he would be welcomed back upon his return, even in 2027. Brave and the Bold would likely have to be more than just a “HIT” to keep people home whenever The Batman Part 2 comes out
I 100% think if Gunn drops his Batman first and that shit SLAPS, it will heavily wound what Reeve's The Batman 2 can accomplish. I feel like a lot of people will gravitate towards an all included verse of heroes rather than sporatic releases of the same hero but unrelated to the building verse.
As much as I enjoyed The Batman, it feels like it’s been in limbo since it was released. It did over $700 million at the box office, but it was a quiet $700 mil, with people even trying to insist it underperformed. And even though it was generally well-liked, it doesn’t feel like it’s had much staying power with fans. Couple that with it being neither a part of the old DCEU or the new Gunn-verse, and it feels like it might whither away and die on the vine.
For me it’s just so good as is, a sequel almost feels unnecessary, like it would only tarnish the legacy of the film unless it is a stellar sequel, which is a difficult thing to do
In what world is a $772 million dollar box office movie, 7th highest grossing movie of 2022, well received by audiences and critics an underperformance??
This is ridiculous. I think The Dark Knight to Dark Knight Rises was about 4 years. But have to also remember that Nolan released movies in between his Batman movies. The Prestige and Inception. So in a 5 year period he did: Begins, Prestige, Dark Knight, and Inception. 4 great movies.
Yep, but Batman Begins, Prestige, The Dark Knight, and Inception were all made by a Mt Rushmore candidate-level director. The Batman 2022 was made by a good director.
@ Nolan is on a different level so not a direct comparison, but it’s still hard to understand why this thing isn’t at least ready to shoot at this point. It’s just disappointing.
At this point they need to start hiring actors at 20 for these roles so we can get a decent number of movies from them before they get too old to play these roles
I enjoyed The Batman as a lifelong Bats fan (mostly on film). I really like Reeves and I liked his take of Bats, but I wouldn’t be heartbroken if they canned this universe and just shifted to Gunns Batman. The whole realistic take angle has been done already with Nolan, and it’s still fresh in our minds. It feels like worn territory. I would really like to see a more fantastical Bats again, a Bats who can swing his grappling hook at any time, but done right and not done the Schumacher way.
If Reeves can't work in a franchise movies at the level he needs to then he should be let go. It isn't a knock on him. Not everyone can work in that environment. You have to be able to finish scripts and movies in a timely matter because you are working with people that you can't easily replace. Actors get older and they need to stay in peak physical shape which isn't easy.
@@Jack0fAllTrades You think Zaslav is looking at the 3 hour noir Batman film that made 700 million and is lead by the best actor under 40 today and thinking “yeah get rid of this”. No chance. If anything Zaslav is pressuring Gunn and Safran to get Reeves into the fold. I mean, isn’t a little bit suspect that Reeves is producing the DCU clayface film? And that his Arkham show (to be connected to the Batman) was snatched up by Gunn and will now also be a DCU show, again with reeves producing? Why are all these Batman adjacent shows and movies in the DCU being produced by Reeves if they have zero bearing on his universe? I wouldn’t be surprised if Gunn has lured reeves into the DCU by essentially making him ‘Head of all Batman content’.
We've had 4 different Batman's in a span of 11 years, Bale, Affleck, Keaton, & Pattinson. The last 3 basically played Batman simultaneously, the DCEU started in 2016 & ended in 2023, while Battinson's movie was greenlit & came in the midst of it. I'm sure the audiences don't care, as long as the movies are good.
Right before penguin aired he said the script was done and they were gonna start filming beginning of 25 . So it’s a lie . What’s gonna happen is if Superman is successful they will cancel it and start fresh . if super man fails they are going to build dc around the Batman
"When youre somebody as talented as Matt Reeves it doesn't take you three years to write a script." How do YOU know that though? You just mentioned the projects the man is producing. What we should be thinking about is rushing a talented writer to meet a deadline. Do we want a rushed product by Reeves? No. Let that man cook and put his full heart into what he loves "quality storytelling".
Where is this "everyone knows Reeves is slow" thing coming from? He finished both his Planet of the Apes sequels 3 years after the previous one. I think they're spreading this "Reeves is slow" rumor to make him the scapegoat for when/if they cancel this series. All the money they lost on Joker 2 has them scared to spend on multiple Batman projects at once. I'm guessing it all hinges on Superman 2025. If it makes 2 billion dollars, Gunn gets permission to start actually developing The Brave and the Bold. But if Superman does Flash/Joker 2/Blue Beetle/Black Adam/Aquaman 2 numbers, The Batman 2 will quickly go into production, and they'll probably tell us that The Batman was ALWAYS part of the DCU, didn't we realize, while shelving Gunn's projects and building out from the Reevesverse. If there's one thing I've learned about WB over the decades, they are incredibly fast to get cold feet and radically change direction at the first sign of trouble.
This delay destroys the momentum at the end of penguin and sets up a story that takes place weeks after the events of penguin but it will be years of real time, not a good look
I think they need to address the elephant in the room and just tell us what is going on. It's weird, there is clearly something going on, and it can't be hidden anymore.
@@Jack0fAllTrades Not true. Gunn stated that he wants DC to have strong elseworlds stories that don't tie into the DCU. Henry Cavill was part of the DCU, which was completely destroyed, so he had to fire him and recast Superman. The Batman wasn't part of the DCU, it was very successful, and Gunn has stated multiple times that he is just waiting on Reeves to complete the script - he has no intention of cancelling it.
@ I hope you’re right because I want to see part two and part three. But I don’t trust Gunn. season 5 of Superman and Lois was cancelled because the studio didn’t want it to compete with the Superman movie next year. And I’m afraid the studio won’t want to compete with two Batmans at the same timeframe. I believe they are stalling
@@Jack0fAllTrades Yeah, so why would they cancel reeves Batman? Actually think about it. The first film was a 3 hour noir film that made 770 million. The lead actor is the probably the best actor under 40 at the moment, and the penguin show was critically acclaimed with the lead being played by one of the best actors under 50. If any Batman film is cancelled, it’s brave and the bold, the one there’s been literally no news or development on. Why would reeves agree to produce the clayface DCU movie or dynamic duo? Why would reeves allow Gunn to take his Arkham Asylum show pitch and use it for the DCU and STILL remain a producer if Gunn wanted to cancel his movie? If anything, I’d say that behind closed doors Reeves was given assurances that his trilogy would be his to control, and that any Batman related stuff he could have a consulting role on and essentially be the ‘Head of Batman’ within DC studios.
@@Gino565 James Gunn already hired the Flash director to direct the brave and the bold. Yesterday James said that the movie will not be delayed. But the studio is delaying the popular and successful Matt Reeves’s sequel???
Don't get me wrong I love Matt Reeves The Batman and his Planet of the Apes films but it's frustrating because he has had the Batman property since 2017 and should have had his story outlined by now. Other directors like James Gunn and Christopher Nolan can work on multiple projects within a short time span and still maintain quality. Now I get wanting to "let him cook" but Reeves is painstakingly slow. Im more invested in Brave and the Bold at this point.
My thoughts exactly, 2017, Affleck said "Welcome to the batcave" and his departure from the role waa hearsay at the point. That's how long Reeves has had the reins. And the fact that he's still in the writing stage for the follow-up to his origin story, tells me that the man lacks actual vision. I was already disappointed with how The Batman (2022) took the character steps backwards instead of evolving it forward, imo it doesn't exceed the past two iterations. But now I can say for certain that the character is in the wrong hands, I hope Brave & the Bold picks up some steam and can spare us Reeves' relentless gatekeeping
I think reeves Batman is everything Gunn has said he wants his DCU to be. A clear distinct vision, and a focused story. I think Gunn and Reeves like each other. Both writer directors, both comic book guys. One is the CEO of DC’s first film studio. The other made the most faithful (regardless of quality) Batman film to date. I think reeves was put off shared universe filmmaking because of the MCU and where the DCEU was in 2017-2018. Remember, Reeves is producing multiple DCU Batman adjacent films/shows. Clayface, Arkham show, dynamic duo. The Arkham one was meant for the reeves-verse, now it’s DCU. I think Gunn sees the value reeves brings to their new cinematic universe. His film has style and grit, but it’s still Batman through and through. Would reeves really turn down the role of Batman Mythos Caretaker? After penguin’s success too, reeves may have been given the overseer role of all Batman content.
If the reason really is because he’s slow, then he’s probably not the right guy to run a franchise. And I’m loving everything we got so far, but 5 years is too long. Pattinson is supposed to play a young Batman, but by the time we get a part 2, he’ll be the same age as Ben Affleck was when he played an older Batman in BvS.
I'm glad you are not the one making decsions in WB let the man write and make it the best he can make he had a good run with planet of apes I have faith in him
You guys who keep bringing up age are acting as if Pattinson looks old lmao. He still looks significantly younger than any other Actor whose played Batman/Bruce Wayne. The guy can still pass for his late 20s or early 30s. This isn't like he's still playing a highschooler like Tobey McGuire or Andrew Garfield were in their Spiderman movies. Lol
Matt Reeves is a talented director, but all of his movies have involved other screenwriters. James Gunn is first and foremost a screenwriter, and I sense he didn't love The Batman. He's stated they won't start production without a finished screenplay. The problems at Marvel are emblematic of trying to fix movies after production. His policy makes good business sense.
Christopher Nolan also released The Prestige between Batman Begins and Dark Knight, and released Inception between Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises. Matt Reeves is just being lazy at this point. There’s no excuse to not have a solid script done by this point. I don’t care what anyone says.
How would you know if he’s being lazy or not for all we know he probably already wrote second one but hasn’t filmed it yet because he’s writing the third one.
Nolan directly adopted Batman Comic Stories of Batman Year One, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Knightfall and The Dark Knight Returns with Batman Myths, While Matt Reeves as a Fan adding his own layer version Of Story with Batman Myths of Batman Comic Books in his way.
@@AlternateEndings you may be right but from other sources and interviews Matt reeves has said he was done. I honestly think that it’s partially true and he’s rewriting and revising his script due to it not fully connecting to the penguin show. film makers sometimes underestimate the stories of sequels thinking that it would line up. But when they reread their work it doesn’t line up. Remember reeves wrote the Batman 2 script way before they did the penguin show.
For some reason, I'm okay with the delay because we got The Penguin series to tide us over. I strongly suspect that we might get another Batman villain limited series. By then, we'll be more than ready for another Batman film.
What makes this even more frustrating is that Matt Reeves was able to release War for the Planet of the Apes just 3 YEARS AFTER Dawn. He has the capability to make great movies without spending this much time doing so.
It sounds like there’s a ton of personal stuff that’s going on that isn’t being talked about. So it’ll just be in the air about what happens after this
You can have both no? The solos can be its only standalone story and then just have Robs Batman in the team up films or whatever. Kinda like it’s in the comics.
I honestly think they should have done a standalone superman movie before starting this universe. I don't know why this universe had to be started immediately.
@@ericdxfan511 I kind of thought the opposite. I thought they should just do a standalone superman movie and push this universe off for about 5 years. I don't know why this universe is being rushed when the standalones are doing better, and it would differentiate them from marvel.
Not sure if it has to do with Matt Reeves being slow. The Apes movies from him came in three-year intervals. Also, word is that his script is almost done and production was set to start in summer 2025 before and after the postponement. So maybe the postponement is just provisional, because a whole year seems like an extremely long time. It wouldn't take over two years to complete the movie if production actually starts in six months. But Warner really wants to stick to the October release for some reason. If the production goes according to plan, I could even imagine that the release will be moved forward again by six months.
Thats crazy, since the last batman film i got married and have a one month old born already by the time next one comes out i will be having another kid or two running around
American movies & TV series take so long for sequels & following seasons. One thing I've seen with some Asian movies & series is, if the first movie or season is successful, they'll sometimes shoot the following sequels or following seasons back-to-back, so that they can release it asap. For example, Squid Game S2 & S3 were shot back-to-back, & we're getting S3 in less than a year. Also, the Rurouni Kenshin live action movies, they made 5 movies. The 2nd & 3rd films were shot back-to-back & released just within a few months from each other, same with the 4th & 5th films. This probably makes shooting way more efficient, you hire the actors to shoot back-to-back, so you won't have to worry about delays or scheduling conflicts.
@@carloconopio6513 Yeah, in the past that was true. I was a huge Walking Dead fan, & they were releasing a new season every year. I feel like ever since Game of Thrones took 2 years to film their final season & with covid delaying a lot of series in 2020, it became a trend for major TV series to take longer now. The Boys is another series I watch, Season 1 released in 2019 & Season 2 released in 2020, then each season after that has taken 2 years. Idk why they do this now.
The Batman original was supposed to come out on 2021, and it got delayed as well. It should not take 5 years to make a Batman movie, sorry! It's not Shakespeare. And this is a sequel with the core of the main cast locked in... What's Reeves' deal...Makes me think he has trouble making up his mind or is constantly second-guessing himself and changing things...
If it takes 5 years to get another dark knight level movie. I can wait, it sucks big time. But I rather wait 5 years to have the most perfect movie ever, than wait 2 for a “good” movie.
I initially thought that Reeves' Batman could separate from the DCU because he could finish his trilogy before Batman Brave and the Bold was released. But with the delays, I wonder if James Gunn is telling Reeves that Pattinson has to be the DCU Batman and/or that the Batman Part III is not happening so rewrite Batman Part II to have a true ending.
I've realized that my problem with the 5.5-year wait is that the movie has been on the calendar and given two year-long delays. It would be different if the movie were just "in development" and we had no idea when to expect it.
Honestly with the dceu it will be really confusing with casual audiences when the gritty reeves Batman returns . It’s just too long of a gap & there might be another Batman in one of the dceu movies.
This movie is delayed because they wanna see what happens with Gunn's Superman. If it's a monster hit, Reeve's Batman maybe scrapped and the character retooled to be a part of Gunn's DC universe.
That would be a good compromise. Get a film maker extra time but get them to streamline the development of the next movie along with it. Unfortunately I don't think WB/DC studios have the cash on hand after losing so much on the last 5 movies of the DCEU.
This would be cool, like what Cameron is doing with Avatar 3 & 4. Just film two sequels at once while you have everyone together and the sets and things ready to go.
I've noticed a lot of Asian movies do this. For example, the live-action Rurouni Kenshin movies had 5 films. The 2nd & 3rd films were filmed back-to-back & released just within a few months of each other, same with the 4th & 5th films. It probably makes filming a movie more efficient, you hire the actors to shoot back-to-back, so you won't have to worry about delays or scheduling conflicts.
@lazzi2462 I think the cost savings from it depends on what kind of movie it is and how complex it is. Filming movies back-to-back could save money in the long run but you're always running the risk of what might happen if the first movie needs massive reshoots. Or maybe there was a miscalculation between production budget and box office potential, like the Horizon movies. Plus, if you save money over the long term you're still putting way more money upfront.
@@OkByeNw You're putting more money upfront, but you're also getting your money back sooner as well, since the movies are made back-to-back, the latter one can release sooner rather than 2-3 years later. Plus, I think that's why those examples I mentioned didn't do it until after their first installment was successful & made a lot of money & gained them a lot of hype. They did it on the 2nd & 3rd parts & so on.
I don't believe there was a huge demand for a sequel to T1. it wasn't a big blockbuster, just a cool movie. Also, I think the CGI special effects becoming a thing in the early 90's triggered James Cameron's imagination to make a second
Superman and Batman enter the Public Domain in 2034/35. There is definitely going to be several different versions of these characters. So I guess what I am trying to say is get use to different Superman and Batman.
We literally just had 4 different Batman's in a span of 11 years, Bale, Affleck, Keaton, & Pattinson. The last 3 played Batman simultaneously, the DCEU started in 2016 & ended in 2023, while Battinson's movie was greenlit & came in the midst of it. The only reason the DCEU's movies suffered are because they sucked, not because there were two Batmans in two different universes at the same time. Lmao
Let's just say it as it is. This movie is cancelled. It's not going to happen. Especially in this climate and movie turnover rate. Every delay reduces the chances of a movie being produced. An overwhelming amount of movies that were delayed will never get a release.
It’s James Gunn being James Gunn.. he needs to be the center of attention. Unless Patterson ends up being the new DCU Batman I don’t think it’ll ever move forward as long as it’s the Gunn show.
Yeah that'll be why he let The Penguin get made and praised that being a success (which started filming 5 months after he took over). Also it's Pattinson.
@ tomato… tamato… he can’t come outright and say “I’m canceling emo Batman”.. he’s just going to delay it until it either merges or it just fades away like dust in the wind.
@@riseofazrael Well Reeves had an Arkham show planned for his universe, that was then turned into a DCU show. With Reeves still attached as producer. Recently the Clayface DCU film was announced, with Reeves named as a producer, then the dynamic duo project, reeves listed as a producer. Now his Batman sequel has been delayed two years. + the fact that zazlav (ceo Warner bros) has said in the past he didn’t want multiple batmen in movies. + the fact Robert Pattinson is the best male actor under 40, and there’s no way Gunn and a bunch of executives aren’t wanting him to be a cornerstone of their franchise. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gunn sweetened the deal with Reeves by giving total control of his own trilogy, but also an executive producer role on any Batman related media. (So if Gunn wanted to use Pattinson as Batman, reeves would have a consulting role and say in the characterisation.
There have been many comments going around stating that it doesn’t take this long to write a script. My question, respectfully, is: how do you know? Majority of us here on this platform have not been responsible for writing a script with the nuance and amount of detail that Reeves puts into his scripts. The creative process cannot be rushed in this instance, as much as I or anyone else would like it to be otherwise. DC/WB has long been accused of not putting out a great product and meddling with other projects. Let Reeves and Mattson Tomlin do their thing so that the juice is worth the squeeze.
I agree, this is taking way too long. The ideal course of action now, would be to work with The Penguin writers to speed up the process. Complete the screenplays for both The Batman Part II and the Batman Part III (as part II is said to be close to being finished). Film both the films throughout 2026, simultaneously starting writing/pre-production on Batman Brave and the Bold. Release The Batman Part II in 2027 and the Batman Part III in Summer 2028. Clearing the slate for a late 2029 release for Batman Brave and the Bold.
Im a huge Batman fan, and liked Matt’s version but having to wait 5 years for a sequel is absolutely ridiculous. I’m willing to bet, that this movie will never come out. I can see Gunn and The WB higher ups having The Batman movie as its own stand alone elseworld movie and moving forward with a reboot for Brave and the Bold. I think by delaying the movie its becomes an easier pill to swallow when they finally announce the movie has been canned. It would ease the blow if they’d also announce who will be wearing the cape and cowl in the Brave & Bold.
You seriously think a bunch of executives and Gunn see the detective driven noir Batman, played by probably the best male actor under 40 today, and think ‘yeah scrap it”. And Matt reeves, someone who recently got announced as a producer for the clayface DCU film, and who’s producer on the Arkham asylum tv show the DCU is also developing. I’m willing to bet that Reeves was offered a sweet deal by Gunn to essentially be the head of Batman content at DC studios, but so reeves isn’t tied to something prematurely, they’re letting superman release to see the reception.
You might not be that much of a fan then lol. I despise these wait times but if the Batman 2 came out in 2047, I would still be there opening weekend. I just want to watch a good movie
This is crazy. Matt Reeves (whilst very talented) does not OWN Batman. He did not CREATE Batman. Batman is a Warner / DC Property - and so are all the villains. If he has personal or professional issues getting in the way, then just hand the reigns over to someone else. If this was Nolan midway through his trilogy then it would make sense to give him a little more time, but Nolan is a far more accomplished writer / director and time and time again delivers masterpieces. And remember, Matt Reeves was ONLY brought in to helm the Batman movie after Ben Affleck had "personal issues" that got in his way. Reeves wrote the original script to star Affleck, but after Reeves jettisoned 90% of everything Affleck had written (it was supposed to be set in Arkham Asylum with Batman fighting the inmates & the Joker); instead we got another reboot with more emphasis on Batman doing detective work and getting shot and punched A LOT! So why is Reeves "gatekeeping" this property? Makes zero sense and Warners must be insane as they are literally losing money every year this is delayed.
So hear me out cuz John you do make a great point about them running out of time & they might not do that 3rd Film...Hear Me Out: What if all the delays are cuz they know this & are gonna film Part 2 & 3 Back to Back & Matt Reeves isn't just writing Batman 2 but also 3.
The biggest issue with this is that in first movie it was second year of being Batman, and now he will be in his 40's when second movie comes out, and when Ben Affleck was Batman, he was Batman that came out of his retirement and he was in his 40's. I love the tone Matt Reeves set up, but I think someone else should continue it in that universe, he is just too slow... I also wouldn't mind if that universe continues on streaming, Penguin was great.... If You ask me, I would love to see this universe continue on HBO
He’ll BARELY be in his 40’s by the time the film’s released in 2027 (41, to be exact), which means he will have been slightly younger than that during filming. He was 36 in 2022 at the time of the first film’s release. I just don’t buy the age-thing as a good enough reason to throw away what could go down as the greatest series of Batman films we’ve gotten.
@@brandoncrockett9266 I agree, but I'm just saying they can't sell the movie as Batman's second year or year after that, they need to time skip if this is the case

My best guess is that despite how talented James Gunn is and how much we all loved that they were doing it the idea of doing the Matt Reeves universe along with the DCU might’ve been a little too much to handle in the long run, and maybe it’s a bit unfair to say that because they started the Matt Reeves universe before James Gunn was officially appointed head of DC but I do think that this is happening because doing that universe might be a little too much for him next to everything he’s doing with the actual DCU
People need to remember that Gunn isn’t a politician. He’s in business, SHOW business. People take everything he says at face value but anyone with a brain (and Gunn has one) could see that two Batman franchises running simultaneously wasn’t gonna work. For a million reasons. Zaslav has said himself he doesn’t want multiple Batmen in movies. I think Reeves is more involved in the DCU than people know. Why is taking the time to produce on projects supposedly disconnected from his films? (Clayface, the Arkham show that he originally pitched). + after the success of penguin which he didn’t direct but was his vision. I think they’re just taking it slow. Wait until superman comes, maybe there’s a tease to reeves Batman. If that’s how people found out then the excitement would be insane for the new DCU, much more exciting than if Gunn just tweeted ‘yeah pattinson’s Batman guys’.
I can’t wait to see the flip by Campea in 6 months time. They are all saying I hope Reeves’ Batman doesn’t merge now but when Gunn announces in 6 months that he will be coming over to the DCU. Campea and his team will LOVE the idea all of a sudden. Campea is too high up in the industry now to give you his honest opinion he likes the perks of early screenings and being able to drunk call James Gunn
I'm surprised you guys didn't talk about the comments James Gunn made after this was announced. The second set of comments about this being normal being especially puzzling. Also I believe the director of Brave & The Bold has said recently on a podcast that the movie is on hold for the moment.
@@SuperMayne25 I hope that is not the case. James Gunn seems to be committed to doing both the DCU & else world stuff. I also hope it's not that they plan on putting The Batman stuff into the DCU.
@@SuperMayne25 That's true but it's a bit puzzling as to why he wouldn't have just cancelled The Batverse with Matt Reeves when he came in. Or why he allowed James Gunn to announce a Brave & The Bold movie.
Hey John, I think another reason why it’s also taking so long is because he’s probably writing the third Batman. I heard a rumor that the second one could also tie really close to the third one.
Didn’t reaves take over in 2017 from Affleck? If so, that’s 1 movie in 8 years. That’s unacceptable. Say what you want about James Gunn, he’ll get the whole universe going before the Batman 2. They should just scrap it and move on.
I think with these delays if HBO gives The Penguin a 2nd season or another character receives a spinoff TV show, they should put Battison in it. I really enjoyed The Penguin, but I really wanted to see them use Battison for at least a cameo. Now with more time away from The Batman (2022), Pattison deserves more chances to play the role while we wait for Reeves to put The Batman Part II in theatres. Batman should be used like Luke Skywalker in Mando Season 2 as a key piece of a season finale battle and a looming presence when not on screen.
5 year wait between films, James Bond fans be like "first time?"

Well that’s not gonna happen that movie ain’t coming till after part 2
@ I mean it’s obvious
Reports are saying Pattinson is being meshed with Gunn now
@@titanfighter12 he's not
As much as I enjoyed The Batman, it feels like it’s been in limbo since it was released.
Or its simple he is just taking his time writing the script and movie will come out eventually. I mean you might be overthinking
For me it’s just so good as is, a sequel almost feels unnecessary, like it would only tarnish the legacy of the film unless it is a stellar sequel, which is a difficult thing to do
What the hell are you smoking my guy it doesn’t have much staying power??? What are you talking about
In what world is a $772 million dollar box office movie, 7th highest grossing movie of 2022, well received by audiences and critics an underperformance??
@@ipman127 I know. People are insane. Add the fact it was a 3 hour noir style film. 772 million is really good.
Matt isn’t even making another movie in between them. It’s just another 5 years before he makes another movie period. It’s just crazy
@ Nolan is on a different level so not a direct comparison, but it’s still hard to understand why this thing isn’t at least ready to shoot at this point. It’s just disappointing.
At this rate Batman character is going to enter the Public Domain before The Batman part 3.
At this point they need to start hiring actors at 20 for these roles so we can get a decent number of movies from them before they get too old to play these roles
i will wait for 2027 than rush the script for the fans. just please make a great movie matt i will wait 2 years
I enjoyed The Batman as a lifelong Bats fan (mostly on film).
The problem is james gunn new batman movie. They cant have both batman movies at same time.
Half a decade for a sequel is crazy to think about. 5 to 10 years old is a huge jump

Yea this wait is kind of ridiculous…
Low key matt reeves is just a perfectionist, 5 years is crazy

Yup, the studio is going to side with Gunn's version of Batman. He's going to recast Pattinson
@@Gino565 Maybe that's why they need a delay. They're trying to figure out how to fold the Reeve-verse into the DCU proper
"When youre somebody as talented as Matt Reeves it doesn't take you three years to write a script."
How do YOU know that though? You just mentioned the projects the man is producing. What we should be thinking about is rushing a talented writer to meet a deadline. Do we want a rushed product by Reeves? No. Let that man cook and put his full heart into what he loves "quality storytelling".
TDK and TDKR are 4 years apart and Inception is in-between.
lowkey the merge might happen and i am not against it as much as i once was
Me too! I'm actually open for Battinson joining the DCU if it's done right similar to how the Daredevil series is being integrated into the MCU.

@tomgu2285 its not a horrible idea

I think they need to address the elephant in the room and just tell us what is going on. It's weird, there is clearly something going on, and it can't be hidden anymore.
they're going to cancel it. Gunn is in change now. He recast Cavill and he will recast Robert

Yes, we are. I can bet on it.
Im more invested in Brave and the Bold at this point.
nobody cares what you are invested in
@@SuperMayne25exactly, he's out here replying negatively to anyone with an opinion that differs to his own.

@@REGGie-RIGHTeouseven though I love The Batman I agree with everything you said. Brave and the Bold is where it's at for me now.
James Gunn has something up his sleeve.
I think there's some behind-the-scenes drama going on between Gunn and Reeves.
Also John , Spiderman 2 isnt just one of the best cb movies all time but one of the best all time sequels , Thats hard to live up to
If the reason really is because he’s slow, then he’s probably not the right guy to run a franchise.
Lol
GTA6 before the batman 2 is CRAZY
Nolan directed movies between his Batman movies
This movie isnt coming out and you all already now it by now. Its the Batfleck situation all over again.
I don't think they'll make the third film if this one even comes out. I don't think Gunn will want 2 Batmans running around.
I heard reeves writes a draft and slowly changes things until it becomes the final version unlike most writers who do multiple drafts
@@bigat4659 I’m going off of what James Gunn has said about it. “There isn’t a finished script yet”

Funny how people were crying out for standalones and now want The Batman in Gunn's DCU.
You can have both no? The solos can be its only standalone story and then just have Robs Batman in the team up films or whatever. Kinda like it’s in the comics.
I always thought The Batman not being in the DCU was stupid
Which comes first; The Batman 2, Blade or A Song of Ice and Fire Book 6?

Past American tv series is every year there is a season show but today i dont know what happen to them?
@@carloconopio6513 Yeah, in the past that was true. I was a huge Walking Dead fan, & they were releasing a new season every year. And this is a sequel with the core of the main cast locked in... What's Reeves' deal...Makes me think he has trouble making up his mind or is constantly second-guessing himself and changing things...
He’s going thru a bitter divorce at the moment

Terminator 2 went 7 years after the original

I don't believe there was a huge demand for a sequel to T1. it wasn't a big blockbuster, just a cool movie. Also, I think the CGI special effects becoming a thing in the early 90's triggered James Cameron's imagination to make a second
A DC Cinematic Universe going 3+ years without a Batman, Wonder Woman, or Flash movie, just smellls of dumpster fire.
I genuinely believe Gunn will be integrating Battinson into the DCU, that's the real cause of the issues.
By the time the movie releases, it will be believable that Pattison is on his 4th Robin

Not really Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War of the Planet of the Apes had 3 years between (2014 and 2017h
two different Batman movies in two different universes at the same time is not a good idea. One is going to suffer at the box office for sure.
Superman and Batman enter the Public Domain in 2034/35. There is definitely going to be several different versions of these characters. So I guess what I am trying to say is get use to different Superman and Batman.
@pjpatron yeah but not at the same time

The last 3 played Batman simultaneously, the DCEU started in 2016 & ended in 2023, while Battinson's movie was greenlit & came in the midst of it. I'm sure the audiences don't care, as long as the movies are good.
I think after what happened with Joker 2, WB is making sure this sequel doesn't flop

It's a fun theory, has there been any indications from other announcements this could be the direction they are going?

Sweet child of summer, it's been 13 years since the last GRRM book.
Robert Pattinson will be 41 when this second 'young' Batman comes out.
This doesn't take 5 years to write a story about the court of owl's 😅
I'm burned out on movies or shows that have big gaps between sequels or seasons. I've quit movies/shows because my interest just goes away.
Because Matt Reeves has given one of the only profitable DC films save Joker in the past three years.
TLDR
@@ZaryasBestFriendit wasn't as profitable as they wanted it to be though
So hear me out cuz John you do make a great point about them running out of time & they might not do that 3rd Film...Hear Me Out: What if all the delays are cuz they know this & are gonna film Part 2 & 3 Back to Back & Matt Reeves isn't just writing Batman 2 but also 3.
I have a feeling they will film two and three back to back now
cmon now did reeves think his Batman film wouldn’t succeed ? How could he not has a script in mind after the release
5 years apart from a sequel is insane!!! I guess people don’t want to make money anymore
@@lordofthebricks1 I respect where you’re coming from, but I’d like to see what he looks like at the time of filming before I agree that a time-skip is necessary
You guys who keep bringing up age are acting as if Pattinson looks old lmao. He still looks significantly younger than any other Actor whose played Batman/Bruce Wayne. The guy can still pass for his late 20s or early 30s. Lol
If Warner discovery isn’t bankrupt by then
I blame Matt Reeves. It took him 3 years to start filming the first Batman. Filming.
The Batman 2 or Blade: which releases first?
I mean it’s not an Avatar gap or Top Gun. It’s getting made at least 🙃
Is this movie even happening?
There won't be a third.
@ how do you know
@@Dru2037this is a trilogy.
3 yrs is fine but 4-5 yrs is too long
I dont know what happen todays tv series and movies. They dont have long term plan or plan.
It's hilarious how this video's thumbnail title is exactly the same as his previous Batman II delay video just 9 months apart.
If it is true that personal problems are delaying Matt Reeves, it kinda shows that the sequel is not a priority for WB right now.
