Flying a Piper PA28 for the First Time in 20 Years

- I finally got to fly once again in the Piper PA28. This is the aircraft I flew many years ago, and is one of my favourite aircraft to fly. Here's my check flight on the PA28 to start flying at Gamston.
Loved that you were so engrossed in landing from the EFATO. I was the same in my Skill Test! Tuned in the find some tips on PA28, just about to differences from C152 😃. Thanks for a great vid.

Hi, I didn't finish my PPL for various reasons but I had great fun landing the PA28 at my local airport. Did have an engine fire but nothing too serious other than too rich mix on the fuel. My instructer at the time, a former RAF pilot, shouted "expidite, expidite!" I think that means get out! Good luck !
Wow that sounds like an adventure - my instructor many years ago was a former RAF Buccaneer pilot. Many similar conversations with military terminology!

Great to see you flying G-GALB, an aircraft I've been in twice. I actually live just down the road from Gamston and the part of the river you flew across on final approach was my daily walk in lockdown! I was fortunate enough to sit in on my sister's trial flying lesson a few years ago and then had a trial flying lesson of my own in November 2019. Whenever I see the aircraft fly over me now I'll wonder whether it is you flying :)
That's fantastic, yes I fly over quite a bit (I'm doing my instrument rating at the moment and G-GALB is my usual ride). I'm hoping to start flying G-AVYT soon too.

Love the vlog, random question. If you do the A 2 B 2 C 2 A flights do you have to file a flight plan or being GA do you handover from one ATC to another. Ex AATC 79-86 but not PPL so interested in the preflight arrangements. Appreciate any replies.
We don’t have to file flight plans in the UK for VFR or IFR (unless you’re going to be operating in Class A I believe). I’ve never done one. They are required to fly overseas however (if you cross an FIR boundary), and recommended if you fly over very remote areas such as mountains or open water.
