In many ways, Nick Foles’ 2018 run was even more magical than his 2017 run - Super Bowl MVP and all!
Instead of taking over for an 11-2 powerhouse, in 2018 Foles got a badly banged up, left for dead 6-7 Eagles team. He went on the road, back to LA of all places, and knocked off the eventual NFC Champion Rams, on a prime time game no one thought Philly would win.
Then versus the playoff bound Texans, playing for the no.2 seed, with Deshaun Watson firing on all cylinders, Nick went out and set a franchise record 471 yards passing, 4 TDs, and even after getting speared in the chest by Jadeveon Clowny, Foles still pulled off a game wining drive, setting up a short, walkoff FG for Jake Elliott.
Week 17, the Eagles dominated the Redskins, with Foles tying the NFL record for consecutive completions, allowing Philly to sneak into the playoffs, where they ran straight into the team with the number one defense in the league, Chicago. Despite it not being one of Foles’ best games, he led a last minute, game wining drive, capped off by a 4th and Goal TD pass to Golden Tate. The Double Doink did the rest.
The divisional loss the no.1 seed Saints in the Superdome, was still incredible. Just a few weeks earlier, this team, led by Carson Wentz, had played this exact Saints squad in the Dome as well, and got annihilated 48-7, setting an NFL record for the worst defeat of a reigning SB Champion. Nick Foles takes them on in the divisional, with an even more banged up Eagles squad, makes some big plays early for TDs, coming within a last minute, dropped pass of perhaps knocking off the NFC’s top seed on the road. All things considered, It was incredible.

Foles was his own run. 27-2 TD-INT season. Tied most TDs in a game record. Won a SB from the backup position and the SB MVP. Linsanity was what a week long?

Kind of an irrelevant player but…: Jerome Harrison in 2009. He was pretty much a nobody. Although the browns sucked that year, he was on fire the final 3 games of the season and one of those games having 286 rush yards. If he would’ve had 11 more, he would’ve broken AP’s record. After that, never the same and out of the NFL after 2011. U should make a part 2 :)

Just wanted to add a note that Foles did not look good as the season closed out. He had one decent game vs the giants and then played like complete garbage vs the raiders and cowboys. When you look at the context, it makes those 2 games vs the Vikings and Patriots that much more amazing

If Alshon doesn’t drop that pass, and obv the Eagles go on to win against the Saints, I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually move on from Wentz right then and there

Omfg 😂 I forgot Tebow was on the Eagles. Think that’s when I got an autographed Foles picture. My mom was excited when she told me “You want to go and see Tim Tebow?” (Not verbatim) but I think she heard his name a lot & associated him with being good. 😂
