Not enough passenger is not the problem, it is the high cost of maintaining both the driver and driverless system causing so many problematic issue. If the lines keep having problems and delaying people from getting to their destination, of course people would avoid the trains. From the early days of the LRT I have always said they should drop the driverless system. It does not give any added advantage and why take away people's job anyway. They should learn from Japan, the country with one of the most, if not the most, profitable rail system in the world. They do not waste money on fancy futuristic looking station or fancy trains. Their trains are generic and practical. Their station look like they are from the 1940's and yes some of them really are that old but still in good shape due to the excellent engineering and material they used. Yes it looks old but it has character. I feel sad when I recall how KTM replaced its old train station with new ones. Japan do have fancy trains but those are specialized premium trains with tickets that make airplanes look like bus rides. These trains are like 6 star hotels on rail.
I divide the loss RM 8941 millions by 365 days. Everyday loss RM 24 millions for Kajang MRT line due to not enough passengers. Would it be possible total loss become double with this new putrajaya MRT line?
