Great tutorial, final result is fantastic - I followed this for one of the cav riders. I printed up a slew of these for use as elves in Kings of War. For anyone else printing them, they are scaled by default to the same 28mm scale as GW's MESBG models - which is to say, not 32mm heroic, but actually 28mm.
I absolutely love this tutorial. I've got a sprue of LOTR elves that someone gave me ages ago that I haven't known what to do with...And now I do. Thanks!!!
Haldir: I bring word from Lord Elrond of Rivendell. An Alliance once existed between Elves and Men. Long ago we fought and died together. We come to honor that allegiance. Aragorn: Mae govannen, Haldir. You are most welcome. Haldir: We are proud to fight alongside Men once more.
The figure looks fantastic! I am impressed with your ability to make thin lines with a brush. I wish I could, mine are always too thick. Thanks for sharing this.
This looks amazing. I'd love to see you do a Rohan tutorial if possible? All the best and thank you for all your great videos, they've helped me out a lot!
Almost 20 years ago there was a magazine that gave out LotR sculpts (those from GW's Middle-Earth wargame), I have a lot of them and sometimes think about painting some. Somehow most often I think about the elves, as they are quite different from what I'm used to. And here I have an efficient, nice looking scheme. It seems that this week you are absolutely on fire in terms of schemes for what I'm considering picking up :). Also, generally sculpts from Quartermaster 3D looks so much better printed than on renders. Those that you showed here are amazing. And on "regular" 28mm size, I'd say, which is nice for weary eyes
I gotta say, this paint job is utterly fabulous. It's like one of those pulp fiction characters jumped out of the pages onto the table. I like the sculpt as well; I find some of games workshop stuff a little too much, yet this seems both ornamental and practical. I don't really do 3D printing atm, but I'll keep my eyes on the campaign because I really dig that style.
The style is something I really like as well. It's got enough visual cues which tie it to what we've seen on-screen, but there's little tweaks and shifts which make sense to elaborate on the themes without going overboard. A miniature which actually fits in a case? Definitely more to my taste.
Retributor Armor Spray is expensive! Now going for $33 here in the states. Thankfully, The Army Painter is releasing their own Greedy Gold spray in October for $22.50.
Huh, I was just looking at getting into the MESBG - with Lothlorien, but your video should work wonderfully for them as well. Lovely use of the blues. What I like to use for gold armor is a black primer and an all-over drybrush with the AK Interactive Wax metals. (followed by a coat of varnish, if other colors need to go over this). Free metallic "zenithal" highlight, for cheaper than a gold rattlecan.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio yep. Tbh I am considering getting them mainly for parts to use with other models, pushing them towards more Late Roman/Byzantine look than the Medieval Western Europe one.
I did some zombies fairly recently, as it happens. Past a point they're all much the same - a grimy green primer, a few block colours, then give them a shade. Zombie hordes don't have to be too fancy!
These new figs are beautiful, I hope that the humans will be of the same quality. What will be your next? You could try to alternate btw sci-fi & fantasy. p.s. this guy's helm could pass for some retro sci-fi soldier, the maker could sell these ones in separate packs!
Well, there comes a point when you'd have to start explaining things to the Saul Zaentz Company, Games Workshop, and the Tolkien estate if you want to make it any more accurate.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio i meant the paint scheme for the movie. xD I like the model, what im trying to say is id like to see you paint a movie prolouge elf, do it on any model you like, i just wanna see your technique! x
Your timing is extraordinary. I just found a set of Twin Towers era miniatures in storage last week. Are you spying on me, Troy?
The enemy has many spies in his service; birds, and beasts.

amazing as usual!
Wooo Lotr is my jam. They are absolutly beautiful man, will totally get some of these.
Incredible definitely stealing some of this for my vampiric undead !
Oooh, this would look swish with a nice grim red!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio definitely also that armor with a red contrast/speed paint over it would create a rich metallic red armor !
Fantastic work, you made it look really easy!

There's nothing quite beats actually printing something to see how it'll really look. Renders can only show you so much!

Excellent for Lumineth also
Elves is elves past a point, for sure!

I'm very keen to see how that Greedy Gold works out! I quite like the metallic primers from Army Painter so far, so I've got high hopes.

Neat paint job, are you also going to paint the men from the same kickstarter?
Once they're out, sure! There's some neat conversion parts already in the works that I think are going to make those guys extremely versatile.

They’re really cool! Do u remember the settings of/or the 3d printer you used?
Fantastic as always. I would be interested on your take with yhe deadwalker zombies. Any plans for this on your channel or any "undead"?

That looks great. Did you put a gloss varnish on the gem, or is that just a really good 3D paint job?
I like to think in part it's a really good paint job, but there's a gloss varnish on there as well to make it shine!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Haha. Well I'm sure it's both. Nice work! Makes me want to get back into Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game.
pity its not more accurate ngl
