- Eugene has a strain in his neck as result of continously using his mouse stick to the left while accessing a computer, book or remote control.
A motorised arm was used to move the wheelchair controller to the back of his wheelchair when he accessed things like the computer. This meany he did not have to turn to the left constantly and helped his neck.
The swing away mount came from a company called "HMC Products"
The main parts of the system are:
MOUNT-001 www.hmc-product...
0013-7004a www.hmc-product...
The relay box is activated by a momentary switch. To attach the mount to the wheelchair we used some brackets from the Daessy mounting system.
Hi James, thanks for the comment. There is never just one solution that suits everyone. As you said, your solution is simpler and from my experience the simpler solution the more successful in the long term (less can go wrong). This was Eugene's solution and it has also been successful for him despite being more complex. Whatever works :)
I'm in a similar situation to Eugene. My solution to the chin control being in the way whilst using a mouthstick is a bit simpler than the one shown in the video...I just have the chin control mounted lower down, so I can type over the top of it (as I am now). If I'm going outside where I'll need to use the control for an extended period, I just ask my carer to lift the control up a few centimeters on its adjustable bracket so it's easier to reach, & I don't strain my neck.
Hi, the main parts of the system are MOUNT-001 ( the swing away mount) and0013-7004a (which is the relay box to operate the motor of the MOUNT-001)
See the links provided in the video description.
