Rough Walked Up Pheasant Shooting With Cocker Spaniels

This week the COT are in deepest Oxfordshire rough shooting on a World War Two aerodrome. The lads are on top form and the banter is in full swing. I managed to get a bit of shooting and learnt a lesson or two about trusting my dog's nose ! Hope you enjoy this as much as we did, it was a cracking day. I use Hull 20 bore 28 gram 5's

I always use a 20 bore for walked up shooting as they are easier and lighter to carry and the birds tend to be shot at a closer range so a smaller bore is more than capable. A couple of the guys shooting use 28 bores. Cheers Nick

20 bore is a lot lighter and quicker to point. It is also very capable of doing everything a 12g can. I use my beretta silver pigeon on everything from rabbit, grouse, woodcock, Turkey and even deer with slugs.
