America's Great Loop - Documentary

Are there different names for different routes of the loop?
I'm near Ottawa, Ontario, and was talking with people at the Rideau Canal Locks that they skip the Erie Canal by taking, the long way around, the Rideau Canal from Lake Ontario. Then they go Ottawa River to the St. Lawrence River to the Atlantic Ocean and down the East Coast to wrap around Florida to get into the Gulf.
So, how should people title their trip that take alternate routes?
