  • I built a shelter for the night in an area where wild boars and wolves live. This shelter is known as the underground shelter. Maybe dugout shelter... I made a bad ground smooth by digging it. I built a fireplace inside the shelter for cooking and warmth. Then, I sheltered the top of the shelter using tree branches. There is a small stream next to the shelter. There is a lot of water in this season; But water decreases in summer. We are in a cold season. The viper I saw surprised me. Under normal circumstances, snakes hibernate at this time. This snake either never hibernated or woke up very early. I took the hunting rifle with me for safety. I did not hunt any animals. I feel safer when I have my rifle with me. I hope you like the video. Enjoy watching.

    It really depends on where you live whether or not you’d want to build a shelter on a riverbank.

    When you dig below surface, how do you keep rain out?

      Hello. I built this shelter to pass the time for a few days. I follow the weather forecast. There is no chance of rain while I will be here. There is very little rain in this region anyway. If there was a surprise rain, I would use tarp. I always have a tarp in my bag. I would cover it on the roof and block the rain. If it had been a rainy day I would have built a different shelter. Thanks again. :-)

      Hello. Thank you for your useful comment. When I build a shelter, I build it according to the conditions of the region. But the most important thing is the weather on the days when I will spend time in that shelter. This region where I camped is one of the regions with the least rainfall in my country. Therefore, I do not need to make a lot of effort to protect the roof from rain. If I were to stay on a rainy day, I would shelter the roof with a tarpaulin or tree barks. It's just a shelter I built to stay for a few days. I knew the weather. If there was a surprise rain though, I had my tarp with me. I would cover the tarp on the roof. Thanks again.

      @cindysoop, dua ile olsaydı ülkemiz hiç kuraklık geçirmezdi. :-) Duayla ne yağmur yağdırılır ne de yağmur engellenir. Hava durumunu önceden bildiğim için problem yoktu. Diyelim ki yağdı... Tarpımı açar çatıyı örterdim.

    how did you store your meat?

    • @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors
      @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors  6 місяців тому

      The weather is sunny but very cold. The temperature drops below zero at night. During the day, it is shaded and the ground is very cool. I bring frozen water bottles when I come to camp. I put the meat and ice in the same container and bury it under the ground in a shady place. The ice only thaws in the first 24 hours. Then the meat can remain underground for two more days. I've had no problems.

    Poor fireplace design. Way to much smoke in the interior. add a foot or 2 of chimney to the top to improve the draw.

    • @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors
      @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors  6 місяців тому

      Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, you are right. I didn't have enough time to build a chimney. Since I was temporarily using it without a chimney, the smoke bothered me a bit. A good chimney will be built at the top. :-) I would also like to say that you are a good observer. I thought no one would understand the cause of the smoke. :-)
