I'm so happy and excited to share this with all of you! I had such a wonderful time with Kamilah & Prince! 😊
Come chill, hang out, and listen to 3 friends talk all about DECORA (my personal favorite style)! My friends Kamilah (@harddecora) & Prince (@mahouprince) both combined have many many years of experience with Decora and are both extremely passionate about it. We talk about the difference between Decora and Kidcore, the evolution of Decora fashion, whether anyone can wear Decora, and so much more about this fun and colorful community. Recently, I and many others have noticed a ton of misinformation being spread about various alternative J-Fashion (short for Japanese Fashion) styles and kawaii culture so I came up with the idea on Twitter one day to start a video series where I sit down and talk to people who have been part of these communities either for more than a decade or who are extremely active in their communities. Through this series, I am hoping to share the knowledge that these J-Fashion veterans have with others about the rich history & culture of this global J-Fashion community as well those wanting to try out these fashions for themselves. Spending time with all these wonderful people has been such a delight and I have learned so much as well! We go over the history, the evolution, advice for newbies, misconceptions, and a ton of other stuff about these various styles. I really hope that this is helpful, informative, and that you have a good time learning with all of us! o((*^▽^*))o

i wear decora to school and the teachers stand waiting to see my outfit every day... it's embarrassing and overwhelming
Well i think that is super cute! Like imagine getting a compliment every day, i would be so happy
I have a uniform but as a emo person I still get those awkward/feared confrontations of walking into a room. My advice is to just ignore it, ask the teachers to back off a bit or just make a fun conversation to make it seem like that doesn’t effect you.
To the replies, guys please keep in mind that just because YOU would like the attention doesn't mean OP has to as well, don't invalidate their feelings and make this about you by saying things like, "I would like that" or stuff along the lines of "You should enjoy it because I would".
To Op, I think you should tell your teachers that they are making you feel overwhelmed and embarrassed and how they can alleviate that feeling for you. If they really do care about you they would understand and do their best to stop making you feel that way.

oh man, this brings me so much comfort, especially the section where you were talking about being perceived as childlike. For me it has nothing to do with trying to look like a child, it's embracing my entire self and all of my interests & being powerful while also being cute! Hard decora especially is such a good aesthetic, I grew up wearing all black and band shirts so bringing it back around to that hardcore don't-fuck-with-me vibe makes me so happy!
A lot of quote on quote "normal" society likes to say all of things like decora is for children, as if when you grow up you can't like things like bright colors and fun cute barrets and whatever, and it doesn't make sense, because they say when your grown you can do whatever, but when we get grown there are limits to what we can and can't like, it's such a contradiction. I'm near 24 and I love things like decora, I have always loved so many types of fashion, I love bright colors, my room is basically all cute pastel colors, I need to get a new dresser and such, so its slowly becoming more and more cute, and even my mom knows I like cute things, I like plushies and stuff like that, my interests just evolved over time and branched out.

I've started wearing decora when I was about 18 or so and I still do wear it for events now at 30. I always enjoyed Gothic fashion but also always liked colors so I just do all of that whenever I feel like it. Decora and all of those rainbows and stuff are just really good for my mental health and it also tends to make other people very happy. It makes me happy looking into my closet and seing these very distinct sides and I mix them too and I've gotten some other people to dress in decora too and they had just as much fun as me because it's just really hard to not be happy if you are a walking rainbow.
This makes me feel better ✨😊✨ I LOVE being colorful and wearing fun accessories, but I got sensory issues, so I can't wear, like, 20 hair clips and 15 bracelets, so I thought I couldn't do decora 😞

One thing I find interesting is how kid core is kind of.. completely misunderstood even by people who claim to wear/like it. For example, a HUGE part of kid core is "I'm not a child. Having 'childish' interests as an adult is okay and we need to normalize that" -- plus in the beginning it wasn't even about fashion at all, mainly toys and personal things (similar to nostalgiacore used to be super personal to each person) and didn't always include bright colours. Honestly for a long time the aesthetic was about toys, TV shows, arcadesx and /sometimes/ clothes and hair, but it got taken up in a few aesthetic booms that happened in recent years and basically was stripped of any of the aesthetics true... aesthetic? Meaning? I'm not sure what word to use honestly. If we're talking about Actual kidcore vs decora, they really aren't similar at all, besides toys being common in both. Also kidcore lifestyle isn't really a thing, I didn't know people thought it was 😭
so, this is how i found out decora. once i was scrolling through tiktok, then i came across one of your videos. and the style, i hated it at the moment. i left TT and went to youtube aand THEN i came across one if your videos! i just quitted and took a nap. 1 month later. i started to become rainbow, and stopped being goth and started to like you. i started to collect rainbow 🌈 stuff, and decora stuff, and finally a year later i’m decora.
oh man decora is such an odd jfashion for me, not cuz of the style itself but i remember the early 2010s and harajuku fashion being super popular in the west. specifically the crazy fits nicki minaj and katy perry would wear (mostly nicki). i didnt know it was a harajuku thing, or rather that it was a… wearable thing? i just thought it was kinda like high fashion, being all unwearable and impractical but still super fun to look at. decora fashion is probably what i knew harajuku fashion to be at the time. i was around 12? when all that was going down. i miss that era of celeb culture tbh, and now im old enough to have my own money and collect my own things, and live out my barely realized harajuku barbie dreams lolol. im mostly a fairy kei gal but learning about the styles that peaked around the same period is always great.
solarsherbet for example, i adore their fairy coords a lot, and im p sure they combined decora and fairy into this rlly cool fairy decora type style?
im trying to look more into older fairy/decora/jfashion influences and styles and influences, so hearing abt the 90s and 00s was super great too. i was not a cognitive human being in those periods (not even a human in the 90s) so a lot of that information is almost like… lost knowledge to me H
also omg!! wearing jfashion to cons before properly wearing it out is me rn, except ive still not been to a convention yet ;-; ill get a chance someday.

I am definitely a fan of Decora but I don’t wear it myself. From an outsiders perspective I would describe it as wearing a whole collection of things that make you happy at the same time. Some people use display cases while you display your treasures on your body
Hi cybr.grl! I Also love decora fashion! Right now I have just created a decora outfit. I have just started wearing decora fashion and I create most of my bracelets and necklaces. Im blonde and in the first days it was really hard to find stuff that match whit my hair colour. You are such an inspiration to me and I love ur channel so much! Also I’m eleven years old so sometimes it’s hard to have the money to buy accessories. Thank god I have a mother that loves clothes so she always pays for clothes I want !!!! Luv ya cybr.grl

the part where you talked about your ages was surprisingly uplifting and cheered me up to know im watching people in my same age group, i also keep assuming everyone is younger (especially in the fashion sphere)
I really want to wear decora fashion so I'm starting to experiment with wearing bright colours. I have anxiety so I may never be confident enough to wear as many accessories as you guys. I wore a colourful outfit and some Kandi necklaces on Monday. A lady in McDonald's looked at my outfit and smiled so I smiled back and she came over to chat which was nerve wracking (social anxiety wise) but also nice.

Decora has really evolved a lot over the years and I definitely agree that a lot of us are really creative and crafty with the fashion when putting together fits! 🌈💖

i am more pastel but started with decora now i am pastel with elements of decora and vice-vesa, like what you said about diy/randomness....i smiled because that is what i do.....i have been making my own hairbows and accessories with stickers and paper and randomness

Oh man. I need to get into my dekora inspired style. I miss it. I kinda get inspired to decorate my empty adhd medicine bottles in a dekora and/or manhera style.
I've known and loved decora style since high school, however I have frizzy hair and I only saw refs of decora people having straight/wavy hair (just like scene style, it was basically based on the straightness of the hair, or at least in the 2000's), which is suitable for hairclips...I always refused to straighten my hair and wearing a wig on everyday basis was not practical...even clipping hairclips on the front of my hair to flatten it and create a kind of bang looked weird because all the rest was not flat...and when I had my braids the hairpins wouldn't hold v well and on my natural hair, most accessories are hidden inside :( so I tried to create accessories adapted to my type of hair, "cheating" creating a big one that would be visible and making long accessories that would fall on the sides of my hair but I didn't really feel legitimate because no representation of decora peopel w my type of hair existed :( but when I found out hadeko style it was a relief, I was like, wow it's so suitable and practical for me! :D I love this style and I'm happy that a japanese style falls as close as my everyday style ! style trying to try to innovate w my type of hair in decora style though ! :p

on the topic of posting, i relate. i take pics when i can cuz i love documenting this stuff. worst case my mom can have the pics cuz she emphasizes taking pics, smth i never liked doing before getting into jfashion. i dont post anywhere except fairy kei discord and tumblr, and both is cuz i dont feel v percieved in either location, which is v nice. its great when a post does well, ive had a couple on tumblr get a handful of notes, but its not my focus. besides, i alr started getting affected by those notes, so im good w limiting my posts to those places for now.
