As promised, the dial mod video here: 👇
• This is as close as it...
I was gifted a Seiko Captain Willard homage watch and suddenly my head is filled with temptations.
Rdunae R2X
For any questions regarding anything that's in the video, please leave a comment.
So apparently the brand name is an acronym for "Rome was not build in a day" in Latin (Roma Non Uno Die Aedificata Est), which is their company motto according to their website. Although I still don't really like their brand name, I gotta admit that's pretty neat/creative!
Wow, that's actually an interesting name. They really thought about it. But as you say, it's not a good sounding or looking name, but the meaning is there.
Thanks for this info!
Then it would be RNUDAE not RDUNAE.
I have one of these. I am in the UK and I bought it from Ali Express a few months ago for about £150. My research also suggested that this was about the closest form factor to the original Willard 6105. They even homaged the crown with the word "lock" inscribed. It's a great watch - it is beautifully finished, has a firm and precise bezel and is very comfortable to wear. The resin strap is flexible and seems strong.
Hi James! Yes! Isn't it crazy how far they went with getting some of these details right! I agree! The quality is outstanding for the price! Yes, the resin strap is absolutely fine and definitely gets the job done (looks pretty dang good as well!)! By the way, I like your blue Revstar! I've looked into getting one with p90s in the past but never got around it! Excellent playing as well!
@@zikandesu Thank you so much. The blue Revstar is an RS420 - the pickups are called Alnico. It's a refined machine and the neck is super-comfy. The RS320 (my yellow guitar) shares the comfortable neck profile, but it has more raucous humbuckers. I recommend both of them.
I bought one and the resin chocolate bar strap cracked after about 6 months of use. I left it on bedside table for a couple of weeks. When I picked it up again, the strap had cracked in a *second* place. Not sure if I got a bad one, or if it's a general problem. It did look good, but I actually prefer the cheap waffle strap I replaced it with.
@@matthewmcdonald8624 Thanks for the heads up on the supplied strap.
@@matthewmcdonald8624 Was the cheap waffle strap replacement at 19mm?
It's a looker for sure, I'm not keen on the strap, it looks spot on but lacks comfort, probably ok if you're only wearing it for a few hours, but after a day or so I had to change it for an FKM. I've ordered a 19mm Chocolate Bar from Uncle Seiko. I've got a Rdunae Seahorse too, they all seem to have the whitest lume, this is where many ofthe homage watches fail, with very green looking lume which (and ceramic bezel inserts) which don't look right on these older dive watches. The 19mm strap makes a difference too, side by side with any of the 20mm Willard homages, it's very obvious. There are plenty of straps and bracelets available in 19mm. If you want an original looking Willard, look no further.
I love it. Excited to check this out. Thanks
Much appreciated Charlie! Thanks and best of Luck!
I'm enjoyed the Captain Willard Rdunae R2X. It's a great watch. i like the Black dial the best.
I'm really enjoying your commentary on the Captain Willard Rdunae R2X. Awesome pruduct. I would like to get the Black dial. You also mentioned that you would be able to provide your viewers where we can find this product for a good price. You also mentioned this product is cheaper on cowbell (?) so i would appreciate you sending me the website for this. I have also enjoyed all your videos on modifications. thank you.
Great Video. I bought the RDUNAE 6105-8000 a few years back and think it's one of the best homages to the slim case turtle.
I do not like the bezel action. The lume on the hands is not strong enough and the brand logo is kind of bugging me.
The lume on the dial is good though. So I was hesitant to swap in another dial.
Do you know if the lume on the Seikosis dials is at least as good as on the RDUNAE?
Thanks a lot! The RDUNAE slim turtle looks really nice! I was just eyeing that model (6105-8000)! I totally get you regarding the brand logo. Actually I've just placed an order for the Seikosis dial and a set of 6105 hands with white lumes. I think it should get here sometime after the Chinese New Year (Probably in a week or two). I'm not sure if it's as good as the lume on the original dial (I sort of doubt it) but I'll be sure to check and let you know! Thanks again for the comment!
@@zikandesu Thank you! Very cool. Looking forward to your mod.
I received the seikosis dial today and I did a side by side comparison with the original dial. The lume on the original dial is considerably brighter and longer lasting. I'll upload a video of the dial swap process and include a short clip of lume comparison maybe sometime later tonight if you're interested (probably 10hrs from now).
Nice video and nice watch. What are the diameter and lug to lug dimensions?
Thanks so much for your kind words and also for asking! It's 44mm case size (excluding crown), 46.5mm (including crown) and 48mm lug to lug!
Thank your for the enjoyable review. I have 2 of them. The watch case is top notch. The resin straps are too hard for my liking.. plan to replace them..
Thanks a lot Junjie! I 100% agree about the R2X! I am also contemplating on getting my second one as well! Hope you can find an excellent strap that fits you! :D
its a great watch have been wearing mine since I received it 2-3 seconds plus a day.
Hey Sean! It really is a great watch! That's aweseome! You got lucky with your nh35!
Can you please do a pressure test with the R2X!?
I really don't think the SEC is going to raid your house if you decide to change the dial. I'd take the risk if I were you.
Thanks man for your opinion! I totally agree that they most likely will not raid my place because of it! 🤣
Nice video! ^^
What was the name of the shop he bought it from? 😊
Seems to have everything… so why no drilled lugs?
Judging from all the design choices that are faithful to the late 70's 6105-8110, i'd be hard pressed if they had drilled lugs on this model.
What's the website?
I got one about six months ago but it's just recently started to lose around 20 minutes a day, very disappointed in it
I'm really sorry to hear about yours acting up!
If it worked fine for around 6 month, and if it's not from water seeping into the watch, I'm thinking maybe
1. the stud carrier or the regulator (or both) settings moved (shock applied to the watch) in this case you'll need to re-regulate the watch.
2. dust or some particles may have been inside the watch when you received it and after sometime it found it's way into the movement. (QC related) You can have the movement taken apart and serviced but it'd be faster and cheaper to have the movement replaced.
3. watch somehow got magnetized. You'll need de-magnetize the watch.
Do you have anyone in mind who could help you look at it?
Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you could find a way to get it back to proper working condition. @thinredline2795
Magnetism I reckon.
Could just order a new nh35 movement 🤔
@@chriskelly509 The point is I shouldn't have to order a new movement for a watch that's less than 6 months old.
Do it!
is it 19mm or 20mm?
The R2X has a 19mm lug width. I hope this helps!
@@zikandesu ok! Like the original one 19mm. 💪
I would mod this watch but would rather have a face where the feet fit the movement/case and not use dots or tape.
Hi Fred! Yeah, I can see how that could be a deal breaker for some! It would've been super if Seikosis made a version of this dial with the dial feet matching the 4o'clock crown position. Thanks so much for sharing your view!!
RIght, my Steeldive looks good with a Sikosis dial mod. Not the same bezel as the one you have.
That's really awesome!! I think that's an awesome look! For me, what I was looking-for for this mod required the details of the R2X. In the end, it's really all about what makes you happy and want to wear the watch right! :)
@@FermiFred
Hi there. I might do something like that for a steeldive. Which 1605 dial is the correct one to order over at Seikosis? It apparently has to do with the crown position?
@@WH250398 Steeldive 1970 needs a Seikosis dial with crown at 4.2. They work very fell and fit the NH35 without cutting feet.
