That last final approach was so fast I was certain the pilot was overflying and not landing. Slowing down that quickly & smoothly without gaining altitude, wow. And the passenger was so chill too
When I flew a B206 on the Tuna Boat I always made faster then normal approaches becouse my AC had a small 206A tail router. My first time landing I couldn’t keep it straight. You learn fast out there. I also changed to landing downwind becouse of turbulence caused by the wind coming over the pilot house. When you do that it causes a 0 wind condition becouse of the forward motion of the boat.
@@straightfaceguy7966 Exactly. People usually think that since it doesn't have wings, you can't glide, but you can in fact feather the blades and get some decent glide, and potentially land it "safely" considering many factors are in your favor.
In a car at 80 MPH, you are also one mistake away from death... if you make a deadly mistake. There are plenty of non-deadly mistakes and the pilot could, for a lot of mistakes, simply abort the landing and try again.

I must admit I don’t think I was ever quite so smooth as you are in this vid and really enjoyed watching where you were going and simply went, sideways lol, at pace lol, nice mate, nice lol 11 out of 10

Holy moly, the ship was travelling almost perpendicular to the approach! I was looking for a stern LZ but couldn’t see it, then all of a sudden the pilot headed for the bow… NO WAY!!! Amazing stuff 🫢👍🏻

That's some real experienced professional piloting there. And it's like it was completely automatic. Just wow. I've seen military helicopters land with less precision than this. Give this pilot a raise!
Very smooth. The funny thing that stood out for me was seeing the old Garmin GPS152. I remember selling those when I used to work in a Yacht Chandler, later, I ended working for Garmin.

The title makes you think this is going to be at least a little sketchy, the reality is he made it look like he might as well have been landing it in an open field with no wind. Dude has some skills.
Very nice landing... I thought you were gonna do a fly by but then you landed it like on a dime lol, My faith is growing again in the Helicopter after watching to many mishap video's, amazing machines when flown well.
A little bit risky coming in from that angle, there’s no room to bail out if you need to ditch at the last moment, better would be to hover first and then settle. This approach was almost too aggressive - don’t want to end up on the nightly news 🚁 🔥 stay safe !
This reminds me of an episode of Magnum PI. Where TC lands his MD500 on a ship in the night with no fuel to spare. And then gets arrested on his way back to the island by a Cobra helicopter at that! Top That Mr I need daylight to see where I’m landing 😅
My initial question was... "why wouldn't they just stop?"..... but after seeing you do this I realized the better question was.... "why would they stop?"

I've watched Blackhawks bottom out their landing gear travel flopping on a carrier deck several times. Being military doesn't mean being the best.
