We are moving back to our tiny house in the end of January! When I got pregnant I felt a need to live a bit more comfortable (running water, indoor shower etc) but now our son is soon 6 months and we want to be home with him both me and my partner, so to afford that we will move back to cut costs and be closer to nature again, we never really felt at home in a newly built appartement anyway. So it means we need to declutter again, and now we are 3 (or 4 if you count our cat) so we need to be even more brutal with our stuff so his stuff fits. So I will follow along and love to be inspired by you! Good work!
This is so much more then a declutter video. I love that you are being so honest about how you feel and the way you think this. It really inspires me. Thank you so much for this video!
Ah I can’t express enough gratitude for you making really honest declutter videos like this. I the same, have decluttered my spaces and just sooner or later it just builds up to so much stuff. So to have this actually being shown as something that’s realistic and will happen and even the process being ALSO VERY ME HAHA of starting and then just running out of steam, this was such a warm reminder that it’s okay for it to be this way and really helps get rid of a lot of unhealthy ideals shown through other declutter videos. I feel so ready to take on some of my cupboards today after this video so thanks again ❤
Thankyou for your honesty Kay. I find decluttering very stressful. It takes me days before I feel good about a decluttered area. And yet I struggle with living with clutter!! To watch your video and see that you required some time out from it all has really helped me. I also don't like just throwing things away. There is no such place as 'away'.I have used environmentally products for years. Lots of refills. But occasionally I do have to use a stronger product and I have learnt not to feel guilty about it. Thankyou again Kay. X
Amazing job and very relatable and realistic, which is what I love about your videos! At the very end you dropped a really good tip, start small! Do the one area/cupboard you use daily and it will inspire you/motivate you to tackle more! I sincerely don’t understand why people give backlash for choices you make for your life. The entire concept of your channel, is in the name… love the life YOU love! Not love the life others demand of you. I am proud of you Kay! It’s about finding a balance that works for you! On to the next! Best way I have spend Christmas in a while!🤗🙏🏽
We did this is November too, instead of a honeymoon (married in july) we took a week off in November, booked a mini moon night away to see a theatre show, and hired a skip for a week and did sooo many charity runs! We decluttered our entire two bed bungalow after we hugely downsized last year, and the chaos garage. Honestly we feel so much calmer and happier in our small space now, ready to start our journey for a family ❤️ a small cozy organised space is so so rewarding and logical! Xox
I am just watching your declutter series and it is like a breath of fresh air. I am just starting on a journey to a more sustainable lifestyle. I have used up most of my chemical based cleaning products (mostly several bottles of zoflora) and body care products. I have also made a promise to myself to cut out fast fashion, buy from places like vinted or buy more sustainable brands. I have hit a bit of a brick wall trying to do this in-between working full time and taking care of my family. This video has given me a new found energy to get this done. thanks so much for this content. xx
I use smol for laundry and cleaning products, they're sent through the post in cardboard so no plastic bottles and you can even buy in Sainsburys now I think.
You make a very good point; I have definitely noticed that in the past, if my home is cluttered or I feel a need to constantly shop, there is something bigger going on and mindfully and intentionally decluttering got me to start sorting things out. Looking forward to the entire series and I hope you had a good start into 2023
Thanks for sharing your experience with minimalism. I’m a newbie, but I do so enjoy a decluttered space. It’s amazing how much we bring in our homes only to have to take it all out. Sending love and hugs to you sweet Kay 🥰❤️❌⭕️🎄
Well done Kay, as you say it is a battle but a battle worth doing and it makes you feel so much better, we had a new kitchen put in a year ago and l had a huge clear out and l sent six bags to the charity shop, let someone else enjoy those things and it makes getting round the kitchen so much easier x
Really excited to follow along on your decluttering journey. I try to be as minimal as possible but I think it’s a constant process of evaluating as your life, goals and circumstances change.
Thanks Kay I really needed this! Dont feel guilty for clearing the products you no longer feel you can use. Its a brilliant idea to pass them on to people who love them. Just off to tackle my first cupboard but before I go thankyou for the amazing year you have shared with us. Wishing you, Dom, Echo and Rory a very Happy and peaceful Christmas 💕xx
I love this! I am decluttering everything in my home as well and it is the best feeling to remove all the 'heaviness' that has accumulated over the years. Send so much love and happiness your way!
This video was perfectly timed. Many of us will be home the week between Christmas and New years, which is the perfect time to declutter. It's always nice to start the new year fresh. I completely relate to a cabinet full of cleaning products under the kitchen sink. I don't even know what I have under there at this point. Thanks for being so relatable!
I’ve been decluttering for about 3 weeks now. Just doing bits when I have the steam, as you said. So much more enjoyable that way. And you’re so right: having decluttered certain areas, it then gives you motivation to do more. I feel so much more clear in my mind, happy in my home, and that in turn has helped me stay on top of regular housework as well as given me inspiration to redecorate next year. The under sink cupboard is a constant fail no matter how I reorganise it. I think I need to try some of your storage solutions!
I totally get you on the house feeling heavy. Were on a big declutter here too. Giving things a dedicated home post declutter seems to be the key for us. Our dog has a dedicated cupboard now and it's just helped us not use that as a dumping ground
i love watching your videos! I know exactly how you feel with the decluttering. I recently moved house, i had to go through my old kitchen cupboards and my cleaning cupboard was just the same as yours, if not worse! I tried to get rid of a lot of things and i have downsized in kitchen space so I'm having to be ruthless again and I'm in the process of trying to find what i want to keep and get rid of. I've also started to purchase more eco friendly products and its such a good feeling starting a new journey with being a bit more mindful of the products i purchase. This video is helping motivate me again so thank you!
I have been decluttering different sections of the house for a few months now as ours is a old family house and we only have so much bin space and time to take a trip to the op shop. As I speak there is 2 bags waiting to go lol. But yeah I started my journey with the linen cupboard which ended up with 4 bags of towels going to RSPCA and lots of linen for single or double beds we no longer have getting donated think it was 6 - 8 bags of linen donations. We were a 6 person family once upon time before everyone moved out. I have been slowly going through the kitchen cupboards and then I shall make my way to the hallway cupboards, its a journey for sure. But good job on the decluttering it feels so much nicer to have a clear space. I did the fridge a few days ago so we would have some space before Christmas and it feels so much nicer :) :)
Your first videos on decluttering is what got me Into minimalism (as best I can) and I'm obsessed with decluttering videos lol they bring me so much peace!
Omg this was me over the last few weeks I decluttered all products and stuck to a couple vinegar and bi carb lemon juice and dish washing liquid! And I use thieves cleaner. My house smells fresher with out all the chemicals! And doors and windows open! Love these new videos 🙂 very well on my way to minimilst, I have decluttered so much I'm down to the nitty gritty do I really need this ?! Definitely makes cleaning more enjoyable when you have only what's needed.
Great video, need more of these.😍 I clean everyday for my clients and do use Eco products mainly, but good cloths and scourers are key! Use Ecover,Alkimi, and even Sainsbury’s do reasonably priced.
Great job Kay! It doesn’t really matter that you didn’t get everything done in one huge sweep. You had a lot to make decisions about. And taking some time to do that shows you’re serious about a new life change. :-)
Hi Kay the soap nuts will be fine. I put mine in a jar as they don’t stick as much. When I converted to natural and homemade products I ended up with loads of space. I don’t even go down the cleaning isles in the supermarket so it saves me time and is good for my families health and my two fur babies. Good luck 🧚🏻♀️
I have been working on decluttering. I did a cupboard yesterday and I need to do another today. Rory 🥰I am enjoying your journeys!! Thank you for sharing with us!!
Oh Kay .. I m so happy for you..I am on the same wavelength at the moment...and yes we have for too many products in our lives....when I look back and hear my mum say.... Elbow grease ...is the movement from your arms and muscles...and not the spray bottle....!! And she was right... I have two cleaners ... antibacterial...and a de greaser.... pink stuff....I don't use furniture polish...it just gets engrained in the wood ...I used a lighter damp cloth then I dry dust... And it works.. here's to the less clutter in the cupboard....👍😊
Very excited to see this and so pleased you showed the real view where overwhelm can hit us. I’m doing a 2023 in 2023 declutter and will take inspiration from you. 😘
Great video, I think rehoming your cleaning supplies is a good thing as I think it would have taken forever to get through them, I use vinegar to do a lot of cleaning and as a fabric softner and no I can't smell it on the clothes, I did a big declutter 2 years ago and my home feels calmer yet cosy as i also love hygge style, I have a small 2 up 2 down and it's a breeze to clean and tidy now, only have what I use, every few weeks I try to walk around to find some bits to declutter and I'm always gutted because there never is. 😀
My job as chaplain is being eliminated on December 31 at the hospital I work at so I am using January to declutter my home, get organized and begin to use eco friendly products. I love your videos!! ❤️
Oh gosh Kay, we all have cupboards like that lol. Such an inspiration, because I find after Christmas you seem to have even more stuff!!! Declutter here I come.
I need to clean my bedroom, I find the state of my bedroom is a reflection on the state of my mind, it's only ever clean if I'm doing really well mentally. I'd started by clearing my desk area, but I ran out of steam and motivation when I found out I might end up homeless if I can't find a new place to live that I can afford (I'm disabled and my income is very limited). My room will be tidy at some point, even if it is when I move out 🤣
So excited for your decluttering series of vlogs. You inspired me to do my kitchen under sink cupboard. I'm gonna try and do each room with you 😊 I'm serious about decluttering this time too xx
I feel inspired to go through my cleaning products today. Did your local homeless shelter want them? Also I’d love an update on the plastic free sponges. I’ve tried lots of different eco friendly tools for washing dishes but nothing does the job of a sponge and I’ve had to balance my sanity with my morals on this one. Dishes are the bane of my existence 😂
Declutter..uggh. I need to do this too everywhere in my house.. I think we all get to a stage when this becomes a requirement in our closets & cupboards. My husband & I have more space in this house we are living in, than we have in any other home. Somehow, We without kids under our roof have managed to fill nearly 4 bedroom closets & we have a crawl space that if one more brick, I at 5'1" could completely stand up in and it is 60% full of boxes & some holiday decorations. However, one bedroom closet is from my Moms. I was gifted alot of my Moms decorations & family keepsakes when she passed away in 2017. I think decluttering really does benefit because there could be alot of items that can be condensed. Which would of course make more space. It really does become overwhelming. I start looking through pictures..and something that should have taken minutes evolves to hours. Good job Kay! Really looks wonderful.
Everything looks great Kay! Quick suggestion: You may not want to leave the cat kibble in a low cabinet like that (unless you put a child safe latch on it) because cats can and will chew through the bag to eat it - I learned this the hard way, LOL!
I'm going to do a pre Christmas declutter and clean so perfect timing also check out smol iv used them for the last couple of years love them abd you get your first few washes for free as a trial xx
So nice to watch! I think you have the same wooden salt & pepper grinder as we have 😜 I will be moving in the new year so I have been doing some decluttering myself and it feels sooo good. Love seeing your progress 😊
Hi Kay, great video ! Can you please recommend any cleaning products that are especially safe for use with cats? Like your self I live in an old cottage with two ragdoll cats?
Great vlog today and like you I have been decluttering and wanting live less "influenced" i remember when all the cleaning influencers told us we needed this product and that product... not good and we all fell for it. Now I buy minimal. As for clothes for every 1 item I buy 2 go in the bag for charity. I do olio aswell and you'll be surprised what is of interest to someone else.
I did this last week Kay , I took some loverly donations to Salvation Army some beautiful pieces but unfortunately they said I had to have an appointment and didn’t take donations after 3pm, which was the only time we could get there so I ended up donating everything to a homeless charity they were so very grateful. It’s amazing the stuff we hold in our homes , I think of my home as a container now and try not to overfill it. Under my sink was like yours as well I’m on the same journey. I’m intending on trying to make my own cleaning products a future 0:03 video on this would be very helpful. Xx
It's better to use up.the products gradually than have the whole bottle end up in a landfill. Does your local municipality have collections to dispose of toxic chemicals responsibly? I have one bottom cupboard of cleaning products & one of pots & pans. After years, I finally figured out that I need to integrate the cupboards so I don't have to crawl into the pots & pans cupboard.
Decluttering is so satisfying. Don’t be ashamed, many of us have been there. I would caution being careful of “only all natural”, some chemicals are safer than natural alternatives.
If you have an animal shelter locally they may be glad to have the cleaning products. I have donated cleaning products, old towels and blankets to my local shelter.
I also have a problem collecting cleaning supplies. Can't explain it. Tge only positive of severe chemical sensitivity due to my lupus means I've been increasingly replacing products with more earth and human friendly products. I'm not 100% there but it's much better.
Don't be embarrassed Kay...think of it like donating clothes to a charity shop...its a way of giving back 💖 p.s I'm obsessed with decluttering videos!! 😁
Olio and Freecycle are good resources for giving away items for free (facebook marketplace can be as well) Also, if you are looking for plastic free options for the kitchen, we have been using Good Club (recently rebranded as Dizzie) for over a year now and they have a great selection of sustainable products and a scheme where they send products out in their own containers which you can send back for them to re-use.
If you are interested in homemade natural cleaners I found great recipes on Melissa Maker (Canadian site), search for DIY cleaners on her youtube channel). For an all-purpose cleaner use 1 cup water, 1/2 tsp. dish soap and 5 drops essential oil (I used lemon grass). This cleaned my quartz countertops without leaving any residue. There are other receipes on that site if you are interested.
Be brave and pass on the Lenor products to the food bank and don't keep them. They will appreciate them and less head clutter for you. Maybe you could have a carry basket to take your own cleaning products to your dad's so you don't have to use his and absorb them. Microfibre cloths shed nanoplastics into the water system. I buy pure cotton cloths from dollar type stores. They wash up well and last ages. Love a clean and organised cupboard!
I'm amazed how much came out of a small press. Go you. There's a saying my nana used to say....when you pay peanuts, you get monkey's. When you wake up and go down the rabbit hole it can be overwhelming. Try connect with people who share your same ideologies. I meet up with 4 ladies 4 times a year. We bulk buy....make all our cleaning products together. Good luck
If you are the one cleaning your Dad's house I wouldn't take those cleaners to his house as you will be the one using them. Maybe you could take your natural cleaners with you when you go to his house to clean...
Wow hun thank you I so need to do this and find it overwhelming so glad you showed the truth how it is xx going to do just one of mine and start from there 🫶🏻 x
Hi Kay hope you are well. Have you tried Smol have a look at there web page.i have been using them for about 3yrs and I am very happy with them .take care .x
Very inspiring video. Under my sink looks similar. When everyone was focused on cleaning and products were hard to find, I overbought. Now I have ones I do not want to use anymore. I started dealing with it a few weeks ago. My only issue is finding something for kitchen scrubbing that is not plastic but works. I tried some plant based ones, but they do not hold up well. Thank you for being real as always.
Nice job Kay I would put the kibble in that glass jar
Ah I can’t express enough gratitude for you making really honest declutter videos like this. I the same, have decluttered my spaces and just sooner or later it just builds up to so much stuff. Amazing job and very relatable and realistic, which is what I love about your videos! At the very end you dropped a really good tip, start small! We did this is November too, instead of a honeymoon (married in july) we took a week off in November, booked a mini moon night away to see a theatre show, and hired a skip for a week and did sooo many charity runs!
Good old fashioned cream cleaner is good!
Great job at decluttering. I have to do the same and keep postponing.
Great video,need more of these.😍
I clean everyday for my clients and do use Eco products mainly, but good cloths and scourers are key!
This is one of my goals for the new year. You’ve made me feel very motivated ❤. Thank you so much for your wonderful content xx
Love these kind of videos. Such a huge progress. Well done Kay! ❤

I remember buying my bag of soap-nuts because of one of your videos. Waay waaay back in time :) it helped my hair back then.
So excited for your decluttering series of vlogs. You inspired me to do my kitchen under sink cupboard. I'm gonna try and do each room with you 😊 I'm serious about decluttering this time too xx
I hav literally just dun every cupboard draw and wardrobe in our house luv a gud clear out x

I am trying the plastic free sponges from Seep and so far they are brilliant!! Once used up they can be composted!😊 Highly recommended xx
@@karenharris3123 awesome. Thanks for the recommendation. Did you just get them on Amazon?

Cant wait to see the rest of your series!!
I'm going to do a pre Christmas declutter and clean so perfect timing also check out smol iv used them for the last couple of years love them abd you get your first few washes for free as a trial xx
Well done! You did great. 🎉
i used to buy every product when it came out too. I chose to only use method cleaning products!
Could you link the under the sink storage? ❤️
Such a good job Kay👍🏼👍🏼
So nice to watch! I think you have the same wooden salt & pepper grinder as we have 😜 I will be moving in the new year so I have been doing some decluttering myself and it feels sooo good. Love seeing your progress 😊
Very interested to know what harms the chemical cleaners/fabric softeners etc do Kay?? Why have you changed? I need to learn more about this x
Hi Kay, great video ! Can you please recommend any cleaning products that are especially safe for use with cats? Like your self I live in an old cottage with two ragdoll cats?
I am with you on this!! ❤
This is me! My home felt suffocating all of a sudden. I've been decluttering like a mad woman
If you have an animal shelter locally they may be glad to have the cleaning products. I have donated cleaning products, old towels and blankets to my local shelter.
Fantastic idea!!!!
Olio and Freecycle are good resources for giving away items for free (facebook marketplace can be as well)
Also, if you are looking for plastic free options for the kitchen, we have been using Good Club (recently rebranded as Dizzie) for over a year now and they have a great selection of sustainable products and a scheme where they send products out in their own containers which you can send back for them to re-use.
really nice
If you are interested in homemade natural cleaners I found great recipes on Melissa Maker (Canadian site), search for DIY cleaners on her youtube channel). For an all-purpose cleaner use 1 cup water, 1/2 tsp. dish soap and 5 drops essential oil (I used lemon grass). This cleaned my quartz countertops without leaving any residue. There are other receipes on that site if you are interested.
Why not put the soap nuts in the big glass jar? They’re less likely to get wet in that
Doesn't it make u feel better when u declutter xx
Be brave and pass on the Lenor products to the food bank and don't keep them. They will appreciate them and less head clutter for you. Maybe you could have a carry basket to take your own cleaning products to your dad's so you don't have to use his and absorb them. Microfibre cloths shed nanoplastics into the water system. I buy pure cotton cloths from dollar type stores. They wash up well and last ages. Love a clean and organised cupboard!
The problem with cleaning stuff is it keeps coming back... 😔 they make it so tempting!
💚
What are soap 🧼 nuts? X
I'm intrigued by these too...I've heard of them before but have no idea how they work xx
Yes, what the heck are they lol
@Cathryn Suarez they are an organic tree nut that release a soap, you can wash clothes, windows etc and can be used to wash you hair.
Donate to a food bank. I'm sure they would appreciate x
Wow type before you said @ 5 mins in xxx
No need to be embarrassed at all xxx
6th year of following minimalism. Ducluttering? Rarely anymore.
Royal Canine food isnt very food vets say it is but its not very good maybe have a look for a better alterative
Turn your wounds into wisdom. Oprah Winfrey

Good luck
Animal shelters will take used cleaning supplies
They re not a dumping side either
Use baking soda - vinegar etc. Just stop buying cleaning products.
Try Seep. Absolutely brilliant! Been using ours for a few months. Compostable when finished.
