I am a drainage engineer myself never used that drop scraper ever even when I were teaching myself how to clear drains they are pointless them things keep up the good work mate
Couldn’t agree more mate. I have fished many out of the drain with our equipment but not every technician can easily. Don’t use them or risk your garden or driveway being dug up 👍👍
Obviously designed by someone that envisaged that all pipes in the UK are completely smooth and seemless, not realising we have some very old drainage systems. 👍
Thanks for the advice, coukd have saved some carnage town the line! Regarding the head unscrewing, i guess a reminder to always twist to the right (clock wise) so the rods and heads do not uncrew, is useful. From Selsdon, South London.
Tried that at home and a rod somewhere down the drain snapped , getting a guy in tomorrow to try to get it out , so stressful, got the rods from a tool hire , bastard shouldn't have given us the scooper , the person I called said it always happens.
Thanks for that tip mate I was considering getting one like that and I have Victorian pipes under my land now partly blocked with a gritty silt which looks like builders aggregate . Is there another end piece you would recommend ?
@@drain-unblocker oh is there’s reason why so I don’t make a mistake I have a downstairs shower the the kitchen sink connected to the line so when I use the kitchen sink it backs up in the shower pan so the Blockage must be near there about i say 15 feet
Hi Tony, Dave here from California, love watching your videos, love how you explain things that you do to clear a drain. Sure wouldn't have believed you found a weight lifting weight in the sewer, would love to know how that got into it, hehe, have a wonderful day
Hi Sgt Dave thank you so much and hello California. That weight was a strange thing to find but I think it may have been knocked off the side at some point, I cant understand how that would happen. Thanks again 👍👍👍
Sorry to hear that, very difficult situation if your on standard screw together rods as potentially they will unscrew. You need a drain camera and another set of rods in there to move the scraper out of the joint.
Some engineer got millions of dollars to come up with that useless bit of equipment. If a person wants to rod a blockage, they'd be safer just to send in the rods with no tip and poke about. sometimes that all it takes. If not, call you. Cheers from Ontario, Canada.
Good thing with the internet you learn something new everyday

Ha ha yes the theorists strike again and then theory met reality 😄

Silt is a difficult thing to move. I normally blast it backwards with a jetter.
Thanks for that mate. @@drain-unblocker
Do they have one with an arrow type head so if you hit the blockage it can pierce it most of them or blunt
There is a spear but I don't use it

bought a rubber plunger set and it came with a drop scraper so i googled what its for then found this video and now im throwing it away 😆 🤣

Safest bet IMHO is the Cork screw
Yes the worm is relatively safe but ive seen drains damaged by them.
I’m lucky here in Birmingham, one of our neighbors used cotton buds and wet wipes to clean our sewers out …. 🥴🤣🤣
Ha ha sounds a bit ocd mate
@@drain-unblocker I think he means they flushed them all down the loo.
Clay tile (pipe). That stuff is pre-ww2.
I like the steam cleaner, turn up the heat and cook the tree roots. For some reason they don't grow back.
Make some sewer root soup lol

@@drain-unblocker You other skills would come in handy there.
I would use a jetter
Great choice 👌
@@drain-unblocker As you know well by now even a jetter can get catched up on something but you can that back with out digging up the ground.
