generally i find most folks i have spoken to about their savings and investments are clueless about any details of their holdings, whether it's tax efficient,it's performance against it's benchmark or index, fees, risk, or any level of competence to self manage. I have a 65 year old nephew who asked me last week if he had $10,000 is a CD a good investment or a retired friend last year who took money earning 8% to pay off a 1.12% mortgage loan. I did my best to educate them and be helpful. Thanks to you,Clark, and a former radio show host Bob Brinker (RIP) I also listen too for 37 years, I now live in the land of critical mass since retiring 6 years ago.

Clark, here's the advice that made me realize the importance of accepting compliments... When someone gives you a compliment, it may be the only thing they have to give - it's a gift - so recognize every compliment with an expression of thanks! It doesn't mean you necessarily agree with their opinion, but saying THANK YOU means you acknowledge the gift. On the flip side, responding to a compliment (ie, "I love your shirt!") with a denial ("This old thing?") rejects their gift, insults their opinion, and squashes their kindness. Don't be that guy. Just say thank you.

When I ask people what their retirement savings is invested in. Answer often is: An IRA or 401K. Folks those are shells that hold the money. Those are not investments. Know what you're doing. Remember: "Money Doesn't Grow on Fees."

PA does .. I check it every few months
Lock in a rate in early October … minimum 6 months gets you thru the winter …
Then again in April or early may before summer air conditioning kicks in
At times I’ve locked in for 24 months because rate was so good

There was just very recently an announcement that a very large database/broker that kept large amounts of medical records for many healthcare businesses got hacked. Possibly some months before the announcement was made. So records that your doctor or a hospital have on your health or your identity for billing are not very secure.

Instead VSP asking members to provide their SSN, Home address, telephone number, employment details, family member details, DOB, and so on to access any service from any facility. This facilitates easy to hackers to seal private information and easy for identity theft.

I agree; however, I shop at Shoprite in NYC. Their receipts are so convoluted that I always have to go home and set up an Excel spreadsheet to check to see if I've gotten the correct price/discount. Then, if something is incorrect, I have to go back to Customer Service at the store. Stop N Shop down the block is more expensive - although they sometimes have good promos. Because of their inflated prices, I only shop their sales, but their receipts tell you exactly what you paid unlike Shoprite!

I'm don't consider myself financially savvy but I'm far from finacially uninformed compared to many people I've personally worked with. I was older than most before i got my first pensioned job. Unfortunately, 6 mo after i got that job...the dropped pensions and went with 401k! Boy, did i jump on it because I knew i needed something to supplement SS due to low wages for many years! I was amazed at the number of people that wouldn't participate (both then and now!) 7 years into that job the company sold. The first thing i did was put that 401k into a IRA...no way I was leaving it there! Ive had 3 other places of employment with 401k and did the same...rolled them over. Even though i really didn't know what i was doing I did know I was not leaving a nickel in the control of any hands connected to a past employer! I still marvel in amazement at all the people that refuse to take advantage of 401k! That company match is free money in my pocket and i value it!

Risk going to jail to work for free in the grocery store. You’re taking the job of the bagger and cashier. Do what we did in the past: get the receipt and go over it before leaving the store. Save a job and don’t end up being branded a shoplifter.

Although I prefer to have a human check out my purchases, at least the self checkout kiosk says THANK YOU, as opposed to the human bar code scanner personnel who simply throw the receipt and change at me with a HERE YOU GO. Customer service agents should always close the transaction with a heartfelt THANK YOU, as in “thank you for shopping here so that I have a job”.

Clark clearly does not understand the utility business and asking for deregulation would be a disaster for ratepayers in GA. The free market is a good thing but a kWh is not the same as a hot dog. You can choose where to go to get your hot dog but the wires connected to your home are set. If you choose to buy power from another entity other than the connected utility, there is a mark up. Deregulation is a guaranteed mark up on all power purchased. GA has some of the lowest rates because we're NOT deregulated.

Sorry Clark. I watch your videos several times a week and have received good information. But.....to think that a person using self checkout at a grocery store, with 15 or 20 items, is going to recognize that the item scanned has the same price as on the shelf, is believing in the tooth fairy. Maybe one or two, but not the whole shopping package. Same with watching your items being scanned by a checkout clerk. You might notice a glaring discrepancy, but that is all.

Speaking of the Atlanta Falcons, I recently heard a bit of NFL news here in Wisconsin, home of the Green Bay Packers. It seems that every year the governor of the state of Iowa sends a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell making the case for Iowa to get an NFL franchise and every year the NFL turns Iowa down, and it's always for the same reason: "If we give Iowa a professional football team the next thing you know Georgia is going to want one, too."
