  • Carressa Christian entered the Chrysalis House in Crownsville, MD in 2001. At the time, she was struggling with her addiction to crack cocaine and heroin. Carressa has been sober for over 18 years now. She's the Program Director and Director of Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Supportive Housing at the Chrysalis House. As a certified Addictions Counselor, Carressa is now helping other women fight addiction. She has also started her own company, Streets 2 Executive Suites (S2ES). In this short story, her journey is told through the lens of family and close friends, specifically her daughter, sister and longtime friend.
