I find it VERY cool that elderly people would be interested in Mahjong, Akagi AND Washizu. You guys rock.

I've got an image in my head now of Washizu in an old-folks home, playing his original Mahjong game against old Dutch people. He's trying to act all scary and evil, but everyone else just rolls their eyes and beats him at his own game!

It's so cool that old people (apparently) read the manga but what sucks it's that without a machine and gloves people would learn how to cheat. They'll intuitively spend more time trying to choose out of anxiety at one point, you can maybe counter that with a limit to draw but it's possible you can still leave marks (like Hyodou x Kaiji).

Really good job ! I think a lower table would be more comfortable for the player, but this is great. It seems difficult to see the tiles of the players seated next to you...
I hope there will be videos of the tournament itself !

@SlapdashCarpenter We're not that smart in reading the tiles with our thumbs. Besides, the tiles are very small and one should take one from the 'dead wall' within 1 or 2 secs.
The ura dora is picked by East after a winner is declared.

little bumps can be added to the tiles that are all the same and obscure the feel. I think feeling them out is a part of this style of game though, depends on your level of initiation( in a way)

  • @dragonriderjc9874

What's weird in my opinion is that they are playing with 2-8 characters in 3 player and calling chii.
The 3 player default rules said that you shouldn't play with 2-8 characters or call chii.
Having no kita dora or north triplet yaku allowed in 3 player is ok for me
