for those people that are stuck in the "loop load"(mii maker extra data) do this: 1- let just the Nintendo 3DS original folder on the microSD 2- put the microSD on the 3ds 3- go settings and format now try again i got it, this video helped me a lot
📢📢UPDATE 📢📢 There has been changed to the guide as of earlier today and I will be releasing a remade video of the process in the coming days. Please be sure to follow the written guide if there are any differences between the video and that guide. They changed the "finalizing" section and now you need to download "finalize_helper.firm", open your Luma folder and create a folder called "payloads": Place it there. Lastly, Download "finalize.romfs" and place it on the root of your sd. Everything else is the same with running the script. I'm working on making an updated video, I apologize for the confusion!
EDIT: SOLVED! If the finalize option isn't detected in Godmode9 > Scripts directory it states "no usable entries found". You need to locate the finalize.gm9 file in the SD card and copy it to the gm9 > scripts folder. (mine was located in the finalize folder itself). Reinsert SD card and it should be there.
I usually don't comment on videos but before I tried to mod my 3ds I read every comment on every video I could find to make sure it's safe. And I want to give things back and also give my feedback. I can't describe how grateful I am. I always wanted to play yo kai watch 3 but never got the chance because this game costs over 300€. That's how I came up with the idea of modding my 3ds. 2 days ago I bought a new SD card with more storage and this night I finally modded my 3ds. And it worked. I used the guide for the new 3ds and 2ds Models and it worked perfectly. I had zero issues and it was a fast process. I'm currently downloading ykw3 while writing this comment and I can't wait to play this game after waiting for so long. Thank you so so much. You're a real life saver 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I think my experience with this has taught me how to be patient. I was having so many problems and was starting to get frustrated. I then took a deep breath and took my time. All the probelms I had just went away. I'm still finallizing everything but it seems to be going well. This video made it so much easier (I follow better watching videos than I do following a written guide) even though I did make it difficult for myself. Great guide that definitely deserves a like.

My New 3DS XL Majora's Mask edition has had cartridge reader problems but now it apparently stopped reading them at all. I'll back those save files and hopefully get the console repaired soon. Or is it complicated to fix that reader? Can't do it at home it seems... Thanks for the reminder, though. :)

This is definitely a better method than the previous one with the Mario Kart 7 version. My previous 2DS got completely destroyed and I had to get a new one, which gave me an opportunity to try this method out. So much better in my opinion!

My New 3DS XL came with Luma Pre Installed, but didn't have the finalized part. This was the only video and that was able to help me understand where the problem was. My console is at version 19 instead of 17 and the installation/configuration still worked. Thank you so much.
you weren't able to find the finalize files too? I guess they chanced the website, I followed the steps but in HOME scripts there's only 2 options (GM9Manascript) and NANDManager ):
I did every steps properly but for some reason can't pass the part where you need to re-insert the micro SD card while the console is still powered on. It kept loading forever. I've tried both with a 32GB and 128GB card. After a few more attempts it currently won't even load whenever I insert the microSD back in after successfully injecting MSET9. It just freezes. Anyone running into the same issue? I've got a N3DS XL with the latest 11.07 firmware. Edit: nvm got it to work. Removed MSET9 and tried again, finally worked out of the blue. Not sure what step I did differently.
@@Grillvogel91 Probably 4-5 times lol. Literally spent hours then I was about to give up. Had dinner then decided to try again. Anytime you mess up a step make sure you remove MSET9 before attempting again.

thank you so much! this was really helpful a few days ago I found out there were a handful of retro stores in my country and theres even one close to me thanks to someone from my school and I was instantly interested and wanted a portable device so I was wondering if I should get a dsi or a 3ds and eventually decided 3ds because I can mod it and download lots of things on it and this is the start to my homebrewing journey :D this tutorial was really easy to follow and very intuitive and I never ever got anything like this to work for me and I was so excited just seeing black screens with white debugging text on my screen especially because I didnt trust myself at first to do it correctly and somehow screw it up but this was super helpful if I ever need another tutorial, I will definitely have you be my first source
this was a great guide!!! I had some issues with stucking in the loading loop (Mii icon check), but a comment here who said to format the sd card within the 3DS settings made it work! I have no experience in CFW consoles, but your guide rocked it for me. Thanks! :)
@@Kaylebb I was also confused, but there is literally a setting on the 3DS called "Format System Memory." So make sure you only have the Nintendo 3DS folder inside the SD card, then go to settings -> other settings -> format system memory. This will factory reset the 3DS so make sure you have backed up your original 3DS folder somewhere safe.
Duude, this is literally the most perfect tutorial video I've probably ever watched! I always tend to run into issues when trying to follow along with things like this, so naturally I was ecstatic when I got to that first boot screen and realized "holy crap, I am ACTUALLY getting this thing to work for me exactly as it's supposed to the very first try!!" Honestly didn't expect to *actually* have my 3DS 100% modded with homebrew when spontaneously setting out to do this approximately an hour and a half ago, but here we are, and I couldn't be more glad to be wrong, lol. Super awesome stuff man, keep it up!

In fact, in the process of putting the sd back in the Nintendo with the exploit, I failed 2 times because my Nintendo didn't launch it. But the third time I managed to do it! Gonna do it for a friend soon.

She asked if I could do it to her 2dsxl but when it comes to someone elses property I'm VERY carefull. I had to tell her that I can't becuase I don't have enough knowledge and her console is a limited Edition so I coudn't replace it if something goes pretty wrong. This is a beautiful guide, one thing worth mentioning is that Windows 11 has built in .rar and .7z support now. So you don't need WinRAR or 7Zip at all. The only reason you might need 7Zip is if you want to create a .7z file, otherwise you can do everything else with the built in extraction tool from Windows 11.
Even months after this, it still worked! This was my first time, and it was easy thanks to you! The pinned comment is also true, and personally, i think it's better if you read the directions on the guide.

Hey scott, i got a little problem when it reaches the "finalizing step". Whenever i use the script in GM9, it loads perfectly without any issues, but when it reboots after downloading the homebrew apps, it doesnt show any of the apps on the HOME menu, any idea of what that could be the cause?
I got stuck on 8:40 when I pressed 1 (which was my correct 3ds model) an error screen popped up saying "You don't have 1 IDO in you Nintendo 3DS folders" Please help 😢
@GangsterGato ITS ok thanks I realized that it was my SD card, it had to much gb and my 3ds couldn't handle it so I got one with less gb and it worked and now my 3ds is modded, thanks anyways
I was modding my friend's 3ds for him and upon looking into the sd card, it was FULL of custom wii firmware and mods, but it obviously never indicated this was there on the system. So i asked him about how that happened and apparently he got it at a thrift shop and someone's modded wii sd card was put into it like 10 years ago. Wild stuff

This comment is for everyone who got stuck on the loading screen after reinserting the SD card, for me personally I am using a new 3DS XL and i got stuck but after awhile i ended up taking the SD card out and formating it then put it back into my DS completely blank. After that I followed the same exact steps including ressetting the SD card through the DS settings and it worked perfectly fine!!!
@@minidraco169 no no just the sd card. Plug it into the computer, format it, then put it back in the ds. Open up the mii maker and settings open up the sd settings on the DS and do whatever the video says.
for anyone doing this at this point and later its been updated and the files are a little different later on so you can follow this guide mostly but will have to read the guide a bit bc some steps are a little different. despite that was still able to jailbrake my old 3ds

I've probably watched this video like 10 times. I'm not very techy so I don't want to mess up visual guide helped. nearly messed up this time on the new 2ds model. worked first time on my 3ds. its great that this can be so easily done
My best suggestion is to re-do the modding. There's probably a step you've done wrong or missed. It's a very difficult process sometimes, so it may take awhile before you get it correct
@@chaeeeeeyoung2114 Pretty much, just keep your original Nintendo folder and restart. If you encounter any problems that aren't in this video there's a good chance they're on the official written guide for you to fix

The Nintendo switch will be just like this in the future, mark my words, after the switch 2 launches next year and Nintendo drops the eshop and online services just like they did for the 3ds and Wii U, the modding community will find a way to hack the switch and be able to access custom firmware on the build in Nintendo web browser that not many people know how to access. The only reason why it has not been done yet is because Nintendo is constantly updating its service and maintenance’s the switch for hacks, but once these services are down, modders will do their part to make the hacks accessible to all switch owners. 😊

If I get a larger SD card (greater than 32gb) after utilizing this method to homebrew, could I just copy all files from the old SD to the new one and plug and play? I’d probably need to format the new card first using your steps, but then I would be good to go, right?

Just to add some confidence for anyone. This did work for me and this is a more recent tutorial. Keep in mind the pinned comment its in the guide for the 3ds hacks site too so follow along that.
This helped a lot I thought my hacked 3ds was useless cause every time I downloaded something it would remove the homebrew but this helped me know how to bring it back up without having to reformat the whole card
I don't think it works on the new 3ds XL anymore. After re-inserting the micro SD card, I'm stuck in the system menu because it keeps loading forever. I checked what was linked, but it still doesn't work, even though I did and followed everything correctly.

My whole screen is frozen, the music is still playing, the screen is on but for some reason it's just not moving at all and it won't turn off

So make sure you only have the Nintendo 3DS folder inside the SD card, then go to settings -> other settings -> format system memory. This will factory reset the 3DS so make sure you have backed up your original 3DS folder somewhere safe.
Duude, this is literally the most perfect tutorial video I've probably ever watched! I always tend to run into issues when trying to follow along with things like this, so naturally I was ecstatic when I got to that first boot screen and realized "holy crap, I am ACTUALLY getting this thing to work for me exactly as it's supposed to the very first try!!"
Honestly didn't expect to *actually* have my 3DS 100% modded with homebrew when spontaneously setting out to do this approximately an hour and a half ago, but here we are, and I couldn't be more glad to be wrong, lol. Super awesome stuff man, keep it up!

In fact, in the process of putting the sd back in the Nintendo with the exploit, I failed 2 times because my Nintendo didn't launch it. But the third time I managed to do it! Gonna do it for a friend soon.

JOO, very cool, easy, and straight Guide! I installed homebrew on my Wii and a friend of mine got a bit jealous hahaha. She asked if I could do it to her 2dsxl but when it comes to someone elses property I'm VERY carefull. I had to tell her that I can't becuase I don't have enough knowledge and her console is a limited Edition so I coudn't replace it if something goes pretty wrong. This is a beautiful guide, one thing worth mentioning is that Windows 11 has built in .rar and .7z support now. So you don't need WinRAR or 7Zip at all. The only reason you might need 7Zip is if you want to create a .7z file, otherwise you can do everything else with the built in extraction tool from Windows 11.
Even months after this, it still worked! This was my first time, and it was easy thanks to you! The pinned comment is also true, and personally, i think it's better if you read the directions on the guide.

Hey scott, i got a little problem when it reaches the "finalizing step".
Whenever i use the script in GM9, it loads perfectly without any issues, but when it reboots after downloading the homebrew apps, it doesnt show any of the apps on the HOME menu, any idea of what that could be the cause?
I got stuck on 8:40 when I pressed 1 (which was my correct 3ds model) an error screen popped up saying "You don't have 1 IDO in you Nintendo 3DS folders" Please help 😢

@GangsterGato ITS ok thanks I realized that it was my SD card, it had to much gb and my 3ds couldn't handle it so I got one with less gb and it worked and now my 3ds is modded, thanks anyways

I was modding my friend's 3ds for him and upon looking into the sd card, it was FULL of custom wii firmware and mods, but it obviously never indicated this was there on the system. So i asked him about how that happened and apparently he got it at a thrift shop and someone's modded wii sd card was put into it like 10 years ago. Wild stuff

This comment is for everyone who got stuck on the loading screen after reinserting the SD card, for me personally I am using a new 3DS XL and i got stuck but after awhile i ended up taking the SD card out and formating it then put it back into my DS completely blank. After that I followed the same exact steps including ressetting the SD card through the DS settings and it worked perfectly fine!!!

So what you are saying is to factory reset the ds? And have nothing on the sd card anymore

@@minidraco169 no no just the sd card. Plug it into the computer, format it, then put it back in the ds. Open up the mii maker and settings open up the sd settings on the DS and do whatever the video says.

for anyone doing this at this point and later its been updated and the files are a little different later on so you can follow this guide mostly but will have to read the guide a bit bc some steps are a little different. despite that was still able to jailbrake my old 3ds

My best suggestion is to re-do the modding. There's probably a step you've done wrong or missed. It's a very difficult process sometimes, so it may take awhile before you get it correct

@@chaeeeeeyoung2114 Pretty much, just keep your original Nintendo folder and restart. If you encounter any problems that aren't in this video there's a good chance they're on the official written guide for you to fix

The Nintendo switch will be just like this in the future, mark my words, after the switch 2 launches next year and Nintendo drops the eshop and online services just like they did for the 3ds and Wii U, the modding community will find a way to hack the switch and be able to access custom firmware on the build in Nintendo web browser that not many people know how to access. The only reason why it has not been done yet is because Nintendo is constantly updating its service and maintenance’s the switch for hacks, but once these services are down, modders will do their part to make the hacks accessible to all switch owners. 😊

If I get a larger SD card (greater than 32gb) after utilizing this method to homebrew, could I just copy all files from the old SD to the new one and plug and play?
I’d probably need to format the new card first using your steps, but then I would be good to go, right?
The new card needs to be formatted to fat32 for the 3ds to recognise it, but yes it's just a copy-and-paste job.

This helped a lot I thought my hacked 3ds was useless cause every time I downloaded something it would remove the homebrew but this helped me know how to bring it back up without having to reformat the whole card

The "Load MSET9" step doesn't work for me😔 It just keeps loading without booting the GodMode software. Does anyone know how to to fix it?
How do i do it without a pc? I found a guide where i could do it with just 3ds but it was update 11.13 instead of 11.17
I don't think it works on the new 3ds XL anymore. After re-inserting the micro SD card, I'm stuck in the system menu because it keeps loading forever. I checked what was linked, but it still doesn't work, even though I did and followed everything correctly.
