2:02:38 apparently that rule isn't consistent, because I happened to look at the vod at 1:04:05 and saw a green car start on its pre-calculated journey back to its garage, only to do a complete u-turn and take the motorway Dan had JUST built. Apparently they ARE capable of changing their journey, but the game chooses not to if it hasn't disappeared yet. Either that or they'll take motorways over normal roads if given the option.
@@Lucifer_Crowe that's true for the road tiles as well, but I've also seen the motorway not move after the car on it has left it, because another car (that had yet to be on it) takes it about 3 seconds later. The game will continue to send cars on it if it hasn't moved & it determines it to be the best route, meaning the motorway might sit for over a minute before moving (in the previous vod one didn't move for ~90 seconds). This is troublesome when you need it to change asap or you lose. This seems to be why it's best to pause it if you want your changes to be implemented sooner, because the game doesn't seem to calculate routes while paused.
Yeah, to me the traffic lights seem useless. Even if you can manually change them, all they do is further impede car journeys ("trying" to help others) on an already tight window to complete them, given the demand by the destinations.
I think there are a few good places for them, but they should be used very seldom. For example, if you have a five or six way street with heavy traffic, a traffic sign is better than a roundabout because it keeps the flow for more cars. Usually a roundabout is better, but under heavy traffic a roundabout gets slowed down every time a car needs to cross to another road.
Good video but you should make cul-de-sacs for residential areas. It’ll help the flow getting onto the main roads not have everybody bottlenecked out a huge intersection.
I feel that Dan's attempts at enforcing segregation between the colours is problematic. Much like in real life, though here we're only referring to prospective traffic flow.

Mini Metro actually generated GIFs of how the stage progressed in a timelapse. I hope this game does the same thing, I absolutely loved saving those.

Cars take the shortest route. Except for motorways. which due to increased car speed are weighted more favorably.

I think the only real use is a high density crossroads where two different colours are crossing each other.
