- We visited Rock City & Rock City Gardens and were very impressed by this natural wonder perched on the top of Lookout Mountain. It is located nearby Chattanooga Tennessee though is officially in Georgia. Ticket prices range from $22 to $25 for adults, and $9 to $14 for kids, depending on the date of visit.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable 1 hour hike through whimsical surroundings with rock bridges, a fun and shaky swing bridge, gnomes, waterfalls, an extensive fairy tale display called Fairyland Caverns, plus beautiful views where you can see 7 states on a clear day. Definitely plan on spending around 2 hours or more there, and bring plenty of water because it can get HOT during the summer.

We highly recommend visiting Rock City Gardens if you are ever visiting Chattanooga Tennessee/Lookout Mountain. This was from our July 2019 visit of the area, which included Ruby Falls ( • Ruby Falls Cave Tour i... ) and the Lookout Mountain Incline Rail Train ride
( • Lookout Mountain Incli... ).
I visited this place as a little kid with my family 50 years ago. I would like to return!
You got to see Rock City without a big group. Then you can enjoy it at your own pace. We let many people pass us up on trail so we could admire the sights & sounds at our pace.
I'm actually looking for a place to go for a day and dig for.gem stones locally. I was hoping that this would be such place. It appears as tho it more than likely is not
Yup I don't think they have that
Okay thank you! Arkansas is where I've heard of being able to go do that. Wish I'd have gone when I was in IA.. It was only 4 hours away
Anytime- good luck!
What am I missing here? It doesn't look worth the long drive from ATL?🏳️🌈
It’s totally worth the hour and a half drive! We are in Atlanta and just went today! It’s stunningly beautiful!
I'm 64 years old and I saw Rock City when I was ten. I am eagerly waiting for next year when I am planning on going back there next year and taking my son.
This is one of my favorite places
Was the singing gnome animatronic at the entrance still there? I can’t seem to find it in anything I’ve looked up about Rock City recently.
The world was so different before Covid 😕
So when you get to the top of the mountain you're overlooking a subdivision
how long is total walk
If you go at a leisurely pace, 2 hours is probably good
Nothing like actually being there in person. I went as a kid and never forgot it 20 years later.
💯!
I remember going here on a field trip in 2014 in 7th grade looks exactly the same
Great place to go and see.. I walked that hanging bridge and held on for dear life... Beautiful ❤❤❤
💯 Yeah thankfully they had that other non-shaky bridge as well.
Great video! We are going this July (2020). Thank you!
Thanks! It's a beautiful place- have a great time!
Are there alternative routes where there's a tight squeeze???
I don't believe so. I imagine you could do a fast hike through it.
Yes, there is a straight shot to the See Seven States area that bypasses the narrow spots (and most of the gardens).
what month was this was it hot?
If I remember correctly it was in June and the weather was pretty comfy
Dog friendly?
Actually it is!
Then I saw this! This is too awesome
It’s a really nice and scenic place to visit for sure! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I was uploading a video
Of what? 🏳️🌈
Do you have to to get on the bridge?
I believe so, but you can go on either the suspension bridge or the regular rock bridge.
There are two different bridges you can go on, a rock bridge and the swinging bridge ☺️ but you not forced to go on either, you can get off the trail at anytime you like at the few bypass sections
