I was born and raised in Blue Island My father worked for St Benedict church, I have been to that station many many times, When the video starts out you see a brick structure on the left That was Rolls Coal Yard when I was a kid ( 78) On the right you can see the Illinois Central ( IC) electric rail road platform.
I think the slow ride would get me. Was never a fan of the stop and go like that. When I ride the NE I look for the express trains. Also when I was in NY used them in the subway when I could.
@rodhard688 Oh that's cool. This was the Beverly Branch part. So that's why trains were going the max speed of about 25mph until the departure from Gresham.
Stations are too close. Trains are very slow. I could walk faster especially on the outer limits of the line. This video must have been taken on on a Sunday morning.
This was taken back on 11/24/23 (Friday afternoon). Since this was the “Beverly Branch” part, that’s why trains were going about the max speed of 25mph due to stations being so close to each other.
OMG just knowing I couldn’t go past probably 30 or 40mph for 3-4 blocks at a time and listening to that stupid bell every 5 minutes for my whole shift would make me say no to that job. It’s as boring of a ride on film as it was in real life!

I’ve taken both lines to blue island & back to downtown. I’d have to say the RID is definitely my favorite but the electric was a very smooth ride!
Love the video, but that bell is driving me crazy.
Thanks and it can be annoying sometimes.
