I think it's a matter of a concept taking over an artist. She seems self conscious in some of the costumes. I've seen her live and not found this to be the case. Perhaps too much direction and a zealous art department?

I've started to really like her music but there's something about this video that bothers me.. It seems plastic in comparison. (not to be a hater!)
