Two things Zatch Bell had over other "partner" fighting shows was the humans had to get in the fight too and there was a big focus on having a battle plan making use of the environment, ability interactions, target focus between human and mamodo/demon, and exploiting weaknesses. It wasn't always just about strong-arming your opponent to win.
Zatch bell had some great moments, if the stuck to the more serious parts of the story and didn't make so many fillers. The anime could have done better.
Higly recomend Konjiki no Gash Bell It can be very cliche sometimes, but it's an old shounen, you have to expect that It's great anyway, it can easily make you laugh and cry and the panels... Jesus i had to download some of them because they were too 🔥🔥
