  • Kevin Costner is one of the biggest names in Hollywood and his career only flourishes as years go by. That being said, we cannot deny the positive impact that Yellowstone had on Costner's success over the past few years, as he basically has entered a renaissance period in his career thanks to the show. He even won a Golden Globe recently, which is the highest achievement any TV actor can get. Then, why has he decided to leave the show behind? Is he sick of Yellowstone or acting in general?
    What are your thoughts on Costner leaving the series? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

    It's difficult to imagine Yellowstone without Costner. He's the reason my husband and I started watching Yellowstone. Costner has made this character his own. I am not sure if the series works without him but guess we'll have to wait and see. We do hope and prefer that he stays to the end.

      matthew mcconaughey Would destroy Yellowstone, especially his little speech against the second amendment he’s already made himself clear he’s a democrat he would not fit in Yellowstone. It would be terrible. They might as well just leave it on a good note McConaughey would just destroy yellow stone. It would just make a lot of people mad.

    While I understand what Kevin is doing and why he wants to move onto his own projects, he should put himself “all in” his character that everyone has come to love and look forward to seeing … As for the spin-off shows, 1883 was really incredible, 1923 leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth because of the Native American scenes! Being Native myself, I have the knowledge of what went on in Native schools, I have friends who their own Mothers and Grandmothers went thru this same atrocities … But with that said, I m glad Taylor has brought this to the surface because history books will NEVER do it, and admit to it …

Granted by the time the 20s ending the main enemy of most tribes was simply poverty, depression, and alcoholism. I agree at times it's inflated into hyperbole, but there were such instances as tying children to radiators, forced haircuts, conversion and forced baptism. It's certainly an issue not talked about amongst people. In hindsight though we certainly are ten times better 100 years later if people don't get sucked into mainstream tabloids

  • @imscanon
    @imscanon Рік тому +22

    I get it. It wasn't anticipated to go for 5 seasons. Costner has other things he's been putting off, but has to get to them. It was a privilege to have him on Yellowstone as long as they did. Personally, I feel like they backed the plot into a corner here anyway so there's not a believable place for it to go and it's time for it to end gracefully. They'd have to kill Jaime and Sarah both and that would raise too many eyebrows. They never should have made John a Governor. So it makes sense to me that a big change needs to happen so let's wish Costner well and hope what comes next is great.
    That said, I don't have P+ so I can't watch the rest of 1923. If they can't even put it on the regular Paramount channel so that the people who actually watch Yellowstone can watch the prequels, it doesn't really matter how many prequels they make. Most of the audience won't be able to watch it. I'm pretty salty about that. C'mon, we have Prime, Netflix and Hulu already, we're not paying for yet another streaming service just for one show. Not happening. So, if it stays as is and they're on P+, there's no reason to get excited about any of the shows because we won't be able to watch them.

    I think it's pretty clear Costner had a lot of love for Yellowstone but now he feels it's been cheapened by the ridiculous number of spinoff projects happening simultaneously. Costner is a true artist. He's always chosen roles & stories that appeal to him. Not for the paycheck. Taylor Sheridan turned this into a money grab & I think Costner is just not interested in being part of that. It's also pretty likely they've had to mess with Costner's schedule on multiple occasions because of various production delays & having to juggle all these other spinoffs around the Yellowstone universe.

      Do you realize that Sheridan has moved the goalpost midway through the game, and expects a veteran actor like Costner to dance to his tune? Their contract for season 5 was for 65 days of filming for Costner. Then midway through that season Sheridan decided to make season 5 a two part season doubling the work and filming time. Costner already shot 55 days and is fully within his rights to only film 10 more days. Sheridan is being greedy by attempting to double the money on his cash cow, Yellowstone.
      Meanwhile he has a half dozen spin off shows that are also taking away his time and focus from Yellowstone.
      This media kerfuffle is totally orchestrated to keep Yellowstone and Sheridan in everyone's mind. Therecis no such thing as bad press. This BS should not tarnish Costner's long and successful career.

    John Dutton does NOT have to die for Costner to take a break from the show. Bonanza. and many other older successful shows, even daytime Soaps, kept a character alive for years while rarely showing them on camera. Costner could do all of his shoots in two weeks and the rest of the crew complete the next two or even three seasons that way. Introducing a new character, especially a cousin, played by someone like Matthew McConaughey (who is only 53 years old), to fill the screen time would be a new treat. This would leave Costner free to do the things he wants to do and still able to come back for episodes as he desires. Only small minded and spiteful writers and producers kill off a beloved character and damage the show when the death is totally unnecessary.

    The whole of Yellowstone will have problems if not done in such a way that if Costner does decides to exit and is not replaced by one that can fill his position, it will go down hill quickly. McConaughey might be able to fill that hole, but it's a "will see?" Situation...?

    I think 5-7 seasons is about as long as any show should run. In my opinion, the last couple seasons are just okay, and I'm honestly a lot more interested in the prequels anyway. I live in Montana and have always found Yellowstone a little over-the-top compared to what it's actually like to live here. I'll watch the prequels, but could honestly care less about more Yellowstone seasons. Wrap it up and let Kevin move on to other projects.
    And for all of you Yellowstone fans hoping to move to Montana for some idyllic cowboy dream... Get another dream. Unless you inherited a family ranch like Dutton, you're part of the problem. Come here and work and get to know the people and land first. We're overrun with rich out of staters trying to do the Yellowstone thing. If there's one thing that show gets right it's earn it, don't buy it.
