Adjusting the head from wobbling! You are awesome. You have given my mixer new life. And now I can bake again. Thank you!
you are my hero today! i thought the stand mixer waa broken forever, but now this ol girl is running smooth as butter! thank you so much
Thank you so much! I have been keeping a small hammer in my kitchen to push the pin back in, and now I can return it to the tool box. Plus, I have been mixing a lot of sourdough recipes, and now the wobble problem is also fixed. My mixer is about 25 years old, and now it works like new!
Thank you! I have a 92 year old friend whose mixer has a problem with the pin coming out and now I will be able to fix it for her. I am thrilled!!
This is what I like about these KitchenAid mixers. Parts are generally easy to acquire and repairs are often quite simple to make once you see the instructions (particularly videos like this). Being able to make these kind of repairs at home save money as well as having to ship the mixer back to KitchenAid to be repaired. Thanks for a great video That Dad Mike.
Oh. My. Gosh. You just saved me from throwing our KitchenAide out the window! It has been shaking and the stupid pin always coming out since a few months after we bought it. Not it is sitting perfectly still! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment - I am so glad the video was helpful!
Pin slippage was an issue for a year, and then locking issues and vigorous wobbling made me consider replacement. Your tutorial saved the day!
Wow! Thank you so much for the tutorial. You're a very excellent instructor. I appreciate the time you took to help all of us out here in bakers land.
Thank you so much for the kind words and taking the time to watch the video! I am glad it helped!
Thank you so much for this video. I didn’t realize my pin was loose until I flipped over the mixer. Finally fixed!! 😀
Isn't the screw in the hinge for adjusting the height of the beater. If the head is moving up and down while mixing the beater is rubbing the bottom of the bowl, this is why people break the glass bowl because it's thicker than the stainless steel bowl and has to be adjusted.
In these models, it is to prevent the head of the mixer from bouncing by raising its stop point slightly. When adjusted correctly, it works in tandem with the lock on the side of the machine to prevent bouncing.
I wish you would have turned it on before replacing the brushes. Still a very good video.
Thank you!!! Your 10 minute video gave me everything I needed to get my 20+ year mixer back to working like new. :) Thanks so much!
Thank you for this fix, you saved my wife’s Christmas baking !🎄🎄🎄
Awesome! Great video. My mixer head was wobbling like crazy and was sitting to low to where the paddle was hitting the bottom of the bowl. I adjusted the adjusting screw and also found the pin was nearly half out. Pushed back in and tighten the screw underneath and I'm back in business. It's tight as a drum now. Thank you so much. I was about to find a small appliance repair shop. No need now.👍😁
Thank you for taking the time to comment - I am so glad the video helped!
Holy kitchenaid, batman!! Thank you so much! My 20 year old mixer is now fixed! Awesome, you saved my family hundreds to replace my beloved kitchen helper😁
You had the perfect video for the two issues for my slightly older, but so capable mixer. Just needing a tune up, and now it's perfect again. Thank you!
Great job, have not seen these quick fixes before. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge! Love how you break it down and make it seem doable!
Thank you so much! Your first 5min was so helpful with the issues I have with my kitchenaid of 20+ years (a gift from my sons). Now I have to get a larger mixing bowl.😄
I sat down 15 minutes ago to search and dig through manuals re: wobble issue but I'm good to go now! The pin had nearly worked itself out of the machine; thought that was part of the design for some accessory I don't have lol.. Onto the next! Thanks so much!
Thank you for the tutorial! Very well explained.
I was randomly watching this then I realized the entire time I've had my artisan mixer that it was loose on its hinge, it bounced up and down while mixing thick doughs. I thought that's just the way it was but the screw was loose this whole time. Thanks!
Great teacher, your pace is excellent and you don’t get me all confused with peripheral info, right to where the problem is. Thanks!
Just came across this very helpful video that saved me from tossing my 20 year old Classic model. Thank you so much for helping me fix the few annoying things (quite a severe wobble and holding the hinge pin in place constantly, haha) that my mixer was doing the past couple of years. I do have a Bosch that I use for bread and pizza dough because I can do bigger batches in it. But I love this little mixer for a simple cake or some cookies or a batch of icing. I just told my husband last week that I thought I needed a new one and I was so sad about it because it was purchased when we had our first child and there a so many memories attached to it. So thanks! Off to order a new plate for the bottom and some new bushings so when those need to be replaced, I'll be ready:)
Thank you for your great tutorial. I fixed the wobble problem. My wife has no excuse to buy a new mixer.
Thank you! The section on the loose hinge pin helped myself and my mom fix her mixer where the pin had totally fallen out!
So glad you were able to get them fixed - thanks for taking the time to comment!
I cannot thank you enough for this video! I am so grateful I found it through a Google search because now I can use my mixer again without an expensive repair!!
Thank you for this video. I was recently given a KitchenAid same model and first problem was in leaked so I took it apart and repacked the grease. I was having a problem with the Tilt head bouncing up and down while mixing pizza dough and now I know why. I've got it nice and tight now thanks to the video. Cheers!
I was terrified I'd broken my late aunt's kitchenaid mixer, bless you for this video 😭💓
That was awesome. I looked up other videos for the issue I was having with replacing the brushes and could not follow them. Your video is perfect. Thank you very much. The bouncing was also an issue which I can now fix. Thank you very much for that, too.
Why do we need to replace the brushes? My kitchenaid mixer is weak. I don’t know if the motor not good or gear is going to break or other reasons. Any ideas? Thanks
You just saved me $200 - I was ready to throw away my mixer - Thank you,
Thanks for an explainer! I had no idea the screw at the top of the neck was to adjust the head tilt. I thought that secured the neck, not that turning left would solve the problem.
Thank you this was extremely helpful! I made the mistake of tightening the screw where the mixer pivots as it looked loose. I had to really loosen it to make it stable again!
Thank you so much for saving me so much money!!!!! I was on the brink of looking into replacing my mixer, now I'm keeping it and saving $$$!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Such a helpful video! My mixer is about 7 or 8 years old and has been wobbly and the bowl has been sticking. Definitely going to look into ordering a new plate and possibly change out the brushes too.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! Glad the video was helpful!
Perfect. Thank you for explaining how to adjust that screw to stop the up and down motion of the mixer. Now all we need is a new plate below the bowl so we don't have to put cooking oil on the plate every time.
Thank you for posting this and linking the products in the description. This is super valuable content!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment!
thank you so much for this video. I was hitting the pin back in and didn't know why the bowl would get stuck my husband said something about brushes. I didn't even know that was there. this was so very helpful
Thanks, I just went through the same process, and got it relatively tight.
However on advice from an old retired repair guy ,he said some that were the same age as ours , had some tolerance issues at hinge .. his fix, and has never been an issue since, was to use a set of feeler gauges to measure that end play in hinge, and he gave me several shim washers that required drilling out to match the pin diameter after selecting correct thickness and insert them .. result though a bit fiddly to do, is a perfect fit .. and never had to adjust it in 2 yrs, despite heavy Covid baking sessions ..
Another issue when we first got it , during an Xmas baking marathon, the mixer at the front threw out the grease, or most of it .. That was fixed by my now retired repair guy ..he suspected that it had been over stuffed with grease .. or that the heat built up to a point it became thinner and leaked out .. High heat /pressure grease for industrial machines never been a problem..
Thank you so much! You were so helpful! I was able to fix the issues with my kitchen aid-you didn’t rush through each step and I appreciate that so much!
Thank you so much for showing and explained so clearly. I should be able to fix problems with Kitchen Aid,
Thank you
I’m so happy with this video. Thank you🙏🏼
Thank you for sharing this! My mixer has been shaking with the dough hook attachment and the bowl is not easy to remove. The pin was popping out and now I know how to tighten it. Running smooth again and I’m ordering new parts
Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Thanks for the video! The tip about orienting the brushes correctly saved me a lot of time and headache. I thought I broke my wife's machine because it wasn't turning back on but turned out I had just installed one of the brushes incorrectly. THANK YOU!
Very helpful!
Nice work!
It's really help thank u I thought I'm gonna buy a new one because the pin is sticking out
Thanks for posting this. I had never really thought about my bowl until it stopped fitting in to the turn plate. After looking at your video, I realized that the plastic ring had come off my bowl and was seated in the well above the plate. So obvious but until I viewed your video with the plastic attachment missing from the top of the plate, I didn’t see the obvious. Got pliers and unscrewed the plastic ring from the plate and screwed it back on to the bowls . I had actually thought of buying a newer mixer!
That's great to hear! I am so glad the video helped and appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Youre a genious. Unscrewing the hidden adjustment screw was what i needed!! THANK YOU! everyone says tighten or never correlated the shaking with loosening the screw!! Ty ty ty! Im missing half my spine snd need this to bake.❤❤
Great tutorial, your a genius. You just saved me a few hundred bucks with showing how simple it is to do a simple tune up.
Thanks soooooo much. BTW, your a great teacher/ mentor.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I am so glad the video was helpful!
Thank you thank you thank you! That pin information was a game changer. Mine wasn't even connected to the head!!! Don't ask me how it was 2nd hand but once I connected it and tightened it the shaking stopped. I adjusted the wobble with the under head screw and voila nice and strong. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for showing me how to fix vertical wobble. I was turning the screw the wrong way!
Thank you soo much!!! You were detailed and informative, now I'm not that intimidated to make these tune ups myself!!!
Thank you much! I thought I was going to need to send my 15 year old mixer to a repair shop…
Thank you.
This is an awesome video. I will try these fixes as it’s been driving me crazy having to chase my mixer around the countertop 🤣🤣🤣. Not really but the pin is loose and the head wobbles. Thanks sooo much!!
Thank you kind man for saving life and money, for warbling I was turning right direction so badly 😅and it was getting worse and worse
I just purchased my first KitchenAid stand mixer which will be delivered today. I now know what to do and what to buy should anything go wrong. Thank you 😊
Congratulations, you will love it! It's been the best purchase I have made. Lots of pizza and bread have been made in ours over the years 🙂
Oh my oh my !!!!!!Thank you so much. This was so easy to understand and it worked .
I thought my mixer was dying. It wobbled and that also helped work the hinge pin loose. that hinge pin came out one day and the top came loose. I've been holding it when using for a while worrying about it getting worse and today decided to look into it and it's fixed with a couple of screwdriver turns!!!
You replaced the bowl plate because it was locked into position but isn't that what's its supposed to do? Great video. Shiw us the bowl removal with new plate.
Thank you! The bowl plate had worn and was making it extremely difficult to remove the bowl as it would get jammed further in the lock position. The new one solved that problem and locks it perfectly and is much easier to remove.
Thank you SOOO much!!!
Thank you! The hinge pin popped out of my mixer! I figured out how to put it back, but now I know how to tighten it! Also, I'm going to fix the wobble. (p.s. It's "BOWL" not "BOWEL".)
Glad the video helped!!!! Sorry about the typo on the video, I caught it after it was published and could not edit it without taking the video down, re-rendering and then re-uploading :(
Good & clear presentation. could show how to adjust the dough hook NOT to scrape the bowl. Thanks.
KitchenAid has a YT video referencing "The dime test". In that video the screw he adjusted for the wobble is used to adjust the beater height. I found both his and their videos heloful, maybe you will too.
After watching this video I tightened up the set screw to stop the pin from working its way out. I also adjusted the screw to prevent the back to front wobbling. It took less than 3 minutes and my wife is happy. Thanks for the tutorial. Great job.
Thank you so much! Glad the video helped and I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
