As an Aussie, we know fires… if you are asked to evacuate… follow the instructions. Fires will be on you within minutes. Fires can spot anywhere from 30 to 60 miles ahead of the main fire and can create their own weather patterns. Like a tornado of fire. Remember, houses are just things and can be replaced. It's a tragedy for EVERYONE and many people won't have money to afford a room to stay even for one night. The people have lost their home the people that are serving meals, etc. because no one is unaffected by responding to a traumatic event. Trust me I know I’ve done six mass disasters. I feel a little heartless saying this, but I don't feel terrible that celebs are losing their homes and belongings. Not when average people were dropped by their insurance providers just a month or more ago. They have no money to rebuild or replace belongings. Even if celebs faced the same with their insurance providers, they at least have money in the bank to rebuild and replace. They will not be homeless. They will move to one of their other houses until they can rebuild.

My heart goes to everyone, in particular those first responders deeply involved in this. I live in WA State - a lot of firefighters and volunteers are on their way down there to assist.

Unfortunately, this situation seems to happen about every 10 years or so around southern California. As a kid, I recall how fancy neighborhoods in the hills and canyons would catch fire while we watched from our middle-class streets in the valley below. After the fire, the bulldozers would clear the burnt remnants, and then lots of new homes would be built in the exact same location. Hopefully, this pattern will finally be altered. God bless and stop the madness.

It's California and global warming and climate change. It has gotten so bad that home combust spontaneously right in the middle of the night with very hot wind blowing during winter. It happens every year just like clock work.
Start with global warming, add a little climate change, and there you go.....no way to stop it from happening with hurricane-force winds, last year with rain (so lots of brush growth) and this year with no rain.....
there was a video I watched about forestry which you go to collage for and he was comparing public lands with private, public lands were disaster, you can look it up on youtube dont remember the title tho it was a few years ago. the hands off approach of forest care on public lands may not have been a accident. even here in ohio I was walking at a park and I noticed the trees all looked so tightly together and so holey and their bark seems a bit off and they just looked stresses. hands off approach is not working. maybe they know that?
I read where State Farm had canceled fire ins on many of these homes. That would be hard even for wealthy people to come back from. On a side note, I also saw where the mayor of Los Angeles is not even in town. 😮

Unfortunately, this situation seems to happen about every 10 years or so around southern California. As a kid, I recall how fancy neighborhoods in the hills and canyons would catch fire while we watched from our middle-class streets in the valley below. After the fire, the bulldozers would clear the burnt remnants, and then lots of new homes would be built in the exact same location. Hopefully, this pattern will finally be altered. God bless and stop the madness.
Well hopefully they get the same kind of awesome assistance from FEMA as the victims of Hurricane Helene have.

Well those people have the money to rebuild, they have money to pay for renting another home, they have food and shelter where their kids are safe… some people don’t have that luxury. They lost precious memories to an unpredictable weather event while their country is predictably raining down destruction on Gaxa where people have not sheltered, no way to rebuild, no memories left and no hope for the present or future of their children.
When this fire stops we the tax payers are going to foot most of the bill.....most of the money to rebuild will come from Federal Money..

Extreme drought, high wind storms and sometimes arson.
It's California and global warming and climate change. It has gotten so bad that home combust spontaneously right in the middle of the night with very hot wind blowing during winter. It happens every year just like clock work.

Start with global warming, add a little climate change, and there you go.....no way to stop it from happening with hurricane-force winds, last year with rain (so lots of brush growth) and this year with no rain.....

there was a video I watched about forestry which you go to collage for and he was comparing public lands with private, public lands were disaster, you can look it up on youtube dont remember the title tho it was a few years ago. the hands off approach of forest care on public lands may not have been a accident. even here in ohio I was walking at a park and I noticed the trees all looked so tightly together and so holey and their bark seems a bit off and they just looked stresses. hands off approach is not working. maybe they know that?

I read where State Farm had canceled fire ins on many of these homes. That would be hard even for wealthy people to come back from. On a side note, I also saw where the mayor of Los Angeles is not even in town. 😮
