  • Disclaimer: This is a bad quality video! :-)
Here are my videos from inside the bus all stitched together. The video is bad, but I feel the stories are great and make up for it! :o)
On November 4th, 2019, Melissa Etheridge took a few of her #EtheridgeNation fans on a tour of her beloved hometown of Leavenworth, Kansas. As always, she was gracious, patient & incredibly generous with her time. And her wife, TV writer/producer Linda Wallem-Etheridge, was her adorable & hilarious self as usual.

Evident that she is grateful to her fans and quite genuine. Not many artists take the time to appreciate their fans.

I'm a little younger than Melissa and I always loved Power & Life. But Lester Dalton
10:30 .. Lol. In 1989 I was a KU student and exploring Lawrence KS and found myself in a park that served as a gay hookup spot. And there was Lester Dalton behind the wheel of a van. We knew each other from Leav High. And boy was he pleased to see me! He introduced me to a teenage boy he had in the back of his van who wasn't quite conscious. He was able to slur a few words, that was all. I was only 19 at the time so what the hell did I care?

11:10 She says "There's the Catholic high school .. all good." no. The Catholic high school closed its doors in 2017. But Melissa is correct when she says Leavenworth was diverse. It was amazingly diverse when i was there. Since there was only one public high school, kids from all walks attended it. And then there were American kids from the fort who were from all parts of the US. But on top of that there were international kids, children of foreign students to the military school on ft Leavenworth. I went to school with rich kids, poor kids, black kids, mexican, but also Japanese and Iranian and Finnish and German and you name it. Really .. astounding. And we took it all for granted.

@@frederickburke9944 My dad was stationed at Fort Leavenworth, so I went to the high school for my sophomore and junior years. When I was in the 10th grade, my boyfriend tripped me at school and I fell and broke my kneecap. I hobbled straight to the office, where Mr. Spigorelli told me to get back to class, that I just had a bruise. Two hours later, the swelling in my knee caused the seam of my pants to rip. Went to Munson Army Hospital and was in a cast for over 3 months. But I so LOVED Leavenworth High School! I got a good education there. Took journalism there for two years and when dad retired, we moved to Kansas City. My new school was so impressed with what I learned from Jo Baker in Journalism that they made me the editor of their school newspaper AND yearbook! And do you remember the juke box in the cafeteria??? Loved it! I still make "hamburgers" in my home like they made in the cafeteria, too. Such a wonderful school!!!

I always get the feeling Melissa is annoyed with Linda. My observations.
