when I said that the z 906 sounds better, I meant that it has a better bass, it means that it outputs 104 db compared to the z5500, which outputs 97. a speaker, a system, etc. is measured in decibels, not in how many watts it outputs
Still using Z5500's in 2024 and they work great with all original parts, I've only had to replace the Amp fuse once several years ago, bought them new Dec 28 2004 for $269 shipped.. 20 years ago that's crazy lol. I think the stock Z5500 sub could be better especially with the lower end response, we have a newer & cheaper Logitech Z623 2.1 setup on another PC here and the 8" sub actually digs deeper than the Z5500's 10" but I'm guessing this is a reason its popular to replace the Z550's sub with something better. Worth noting the build quality on the Z623 isnt the best as the volume control is starting to have a lot of static when adjusting especially when first powering them up, they're only 5 yrs old.
@@N1NJAKIDDi wanna upgrade the subwoofer but not sure how it'll perform with movies and at different sound levels. Would it be possible to get a sound test from you?
@@tibby1239 I won't be able to do a sound test. But to be fair, I'm not sure you can get these subs anymore. I purchased mine in 2015. Try something like Skar Audio EVL-10 D4 which is still available. I'm thinking about upgrading to this
If your an OG you know z-5500 is far superior and the replacement z906 was a let down in many ways but did improve on some other minor things. All said & done 5500 is still better and I still have my set!
Dude do you have any idea about Edifier S550, currently I'm using it and very curious to know how it'd stand against these two (Z906 & Z5500) if possible please try to bring any Edifier S series S550/S730D/S760D
i would recommend the edifier, i recently bought my first set of Edifier R2000DB and they are really crisp and sound really well out the box, peronal perference go for the edifier. you wouldnt regret it
For my headphones the Z-5500 has better bass, but its satellites are heard low, the Z906 have more clarity and sharpness, I put a tweeter on mine and replaced the original subwoofer with a 12-inch JBL one at 4 ohms (the amplifier supports 4-8 ohms), this Z906 system could have been better honestly, for movies it is excellent but for music I had to make those changes, even my Jbl bar 5.1 if it is better than the Logitech Z906.
For music, if you want a more clear bass I recommend you a sealed box. The sealed box gives you a clear bass for all type of activities. But you loose a little of bass power.
Z5500 should be in stereo 2x mode, Because in movie mode only the center works at full power and the other 2 satellites accompany it at low volume, the comparison is not fair

I have both systems the Z-5500 is way better is has a digital screen boost options +volume options not just the regular volume it has so many options and easter eggs it's bigger it's more powerful than the Z 906 but the Z 5500 is just way older but it's better quality it's from 1996 to 2002 or 2006 back than it was $1500 but this 2012 Z 906 is only $400
the 5500 was only like $500. each system that came out i think went a little higher on price but i have the 680, never got a chance to get the 5500's because i was dipping into real speakers at that time. but for computer/console speakers to me, the logitech's are all unmatched. (longevity)
@@caliginousmoira8565 i have both th ez680 and the z5500. im using the satellites and the amp of the z680 with the control pod of the z5500 with a 1000watt active jbl sub. yes with some hacking. the reason is i prefer the older looks. it looks professional compared to the z5500- but the control pod has more features and supports 192/24 bit over digital.
Altough it’s not surround, the Z2300 still sounds best. Un-very-unfortunately it sounds even better then my premium samsung/harman kardon soundbar: Q950A
@@SubscriberswithanEgg Yea it’s really hard to beat the Z-2300 all tones come alive and the music sounds great too. everything is crystal clear without losing clarity in base or anything really on higher volumes. just to be fair to my soundbar, the sound does get way better at higher volumes, and the atmos effect only then is slightly noticeable, but i don’t want to crank up to volume too often for my neighbor 🤓

It's because it has a deeper bass. The z5500 os better for low frequencies. For this reason it has a little less decibel's.
Used to have the Z5500 when it first came out wish i never sold it the bass was crazy good for computer speakers it also got me into hifi gear
