So i havent watched a video of yours for about 3 years since i picked up some Gel Resolution 8's off off of your extensive reviews and comparisons (flat feet, a bit wide). Wow man, your testing procedure has gotten so advanced and thoughtful. The smoke machine to show airflow, microscopes, heat guns, a slab of hard court to show grip. Kudos man. Keep going.
Can you do a short 5-8 minute comparison to the Roger Pro? You've got some additional measurements in the RP2 video that you didn't do on the Roger Pro. Also maybe a short comparison of the Roger Pro 2 and the Vapor 9.5? I think these two shoes are actually pretty similar. I use the 9.5 on hard and the RP2 on clay. Thank you
Thank you for the awesome review! I have both the Roger Pro 1 and 2 and agree with your sentiments. In terms of the fit, I do notice that the 2 is a tad bit narrower in the forefoot than the 1. Other than that, I thought they made the right improvements in terms of durability and overall usability, especially the outsole, which would literally melt in a month. Would like a tad more cushioning overall, to make it a bit more comfy.
Mainly play hoops but picked up watching tennis recently so enjoy these tennis shoe breakdowns as well, nice to get an idea of players' preferences on court!
Hi Zach 😊 Yes, the V2 is better than the original. I felt the herringbone tred was the major improvement. The shoe reminds me of the Nike Air Oscillate shoe that Sampras used to wear. The price is ridiculously high. The Asics Court FF blows this out of the water!
These are an incredibly good-looking shoe, & that, in addition to being a huge Roger fan made me really want to like them! But man, they just have absolutely no cushioning underneath the ball of the foot. And bizarrely bottom-heavy. Extremely high-quality, well-constructed shoe all the way around, but these would’ve had the balls of my feet screaming had I kept them (even being a fan of a low-to-the-ground feel). Feels like you’re wearing a wide skateboarding shoe
Yeah I love the look and the performance but man is that midsole unforgiving - too bad- maybe the 3 will intro some more forgiving slabs of foam in there
Thanks again for the indepth review. I literally bought Roger pro 1 and 2 released on the same day I received the shoes. You are right it's very unforgiving, bottom feels hard I thought it was because of the carbon fiber. But the shoe looks so good I can't resist keeping them. I hope my experience will improve in the 2s. Meanwhile still Lacoste Ultra is the best fit for me. !
I ordered some for the clay court and the hard court straight away. For me, this is the best shoe since the VaporPro (I was never satisfied with the VaporPro2). Finally a shoe that gives me the feeling of being close to the ground again.
I’m really enjoying the RP2s. I’ve had the OG Roger Pros but never felt like the performance court shoe I wanted under foot. The RP2 otoh are definitely more “athletic” and I move much more confidently in them. Your assessment was spot on with just about everything I thought. Thanks for the review and keep up the great content!
Is the weight really 436g? I play in the Coco cg1 which looks like a much bulkier shoe and I struggle to see how the Roger pro 2 could be 30 grams heavier ( The coco cg1 came in at 402g in your review) Love the channel and all the videos, whenever I'm buying tennis or running shoes this is the first review I look at.
Thanks Doctor. Been wondering about these and happy to see them featured now. I stayed away from the Roger Pros, and will likely go with asics later in the year once my vapor pros start getting a bit more worn down, but happy to know these can be an option, if you'd mentioned they had a bit more shock absorption I'd be sold, they tick the rest of the boxes that are important to me. I didn't go to the Olympics, but did go on vacations and also brought home an ilnesses (*that* virus, I suspect you also got it from saying how you felt) and man I really can relate to what you say about feeling so out of it...Can't wait to get back to the court (and it's only been 2 weeks) but I might end up waiting another just to give my body a chance and make sure I'm not inadvertently spewing out something contagious with my labored breaths haha.
Yeah if these had just a small slab of some more forgiving foam they would have been a solid option for a lot of people- actually we got Roseola which usually happens in little kids but it just pummeled my wife and I - 5 days straight of recurrent fevers then this weird bout of crazy arthritis after a whole body rash- weirdest illness I’ve ever had- lol my kid had 1.5 days of symptoms and then he was fine…
@@FootDoctorZach As a parent I can absolutely relate to both the huge relief that one sees having your kid bounce back quickly....but also the dread that kiddo is fine and energetic and us parents are just absolutely miserable and you can't in good conscience have someone take care of him/her while they still might be infectious. Hope your wife and yourself are feeling better and are fully recovered. And hopefully The Roger Pro's 3 give us that nicer foam/forgiveness, if nothing else they at least did improve massively from the OGs to the 2s. That said, it's gonna be some solution speed 3 for me.
Zach! You've got to review the The One by FrankWorks. A fairly new take on what it means to be a comfortable tennis shoe. I would try getting in touch with Rod Foley and see if he'll send you a pair or two to review on the channel!
Hello, Thank you for this new and very interesting video. Could you do a brief comparison between these Pro 2 and the Clubhouse Pro? I’m really torn between these two models, especially for table tennis. I hope your experience can help me make a decision. Thank you, and please keep up the excellent work!
Hey Zach, this is super random, but just thought of it when I saw the clip of you tying your shoes. You can tie a normal “shoelace” knot that holds way better by tying a square knot instead of the typical pulling the string through the loop. It also lays much straighter and flatter on the shoe. It’s hard to describe, but it’s a game-changer. I used to absolutely have to double knot my shoes and now I almost never double knot unless I an hiking in a bunch of brush. I think online you can find it called “ians secure shoelace knot”, but it’s just as easy as a “normal” shoelace knot.
@@FootDoctorZach yep, probably the same knot just on a bight (loops) instead of just the tag ends. It seems like a little detail but it makes a world of difference. Even if you want to double knot it just make the double knot in the same pattern (R over L, then L over right, then add another R over left for a double) and it lays way flatter, holds better and looks cleaner.
Hello FootDoctorZach, just wondering if you have ever heard of Lydiard lacing and wanted to know if it decreased stability, as I was reading ur free guide on lacing (goated btw) and saw that skipping holes decreases stability, ik im pretty much answering my question but just want to know what you think on Lydiard Lacing and if it decreases stability
looks nice but i don't understand the pricing. is this so expensive for the brand equity? because tech wise this looks like it was made by some indie shoe maker.
Hi is it good for sliding I am currently using the new ASICS solutions speeds 3 but I need a new pair of shoes and was wondering if they r a good sliding shoe?
Hey Zach, do you think the Powerstep Pinnacle Max Pulse would fit in these shoes or would a Move Game Day Pro be better suited for these? I currently use these two insoles as my tennis insoles
So would these be ok for someone with a 2E foot with medium-low arch with some plantar fasciitis? Also what orthotics would you recommend? Currently looking for something similar to Nike vapor 9.5 but using the court ff3
ON's are well constructed shoes an I want to get a pair of these as a huge Fed fan and tennis player but the price is just eye watering at $199/pair that's just too much IMHO.
These are such terrible shoes for the price tag! Coming from Lacoste ag lt 23 ultra, these are so unforgiving. I play 8-9 hours a week. They are horrible for long rallys, long matches. The lockdown isn't that great, and the thinner tongue doesn't really help at all. A big blow to my pocket :(
The Roger 2 Pro is massively uncomfortable. The toe box is too narrow for normal feet. I have blisters on both feet after 2 hours of play. It is nothing like the previous Roger Pro shoes. I do not recommend these shoes.
Watch another channel then- I haven’t been able to be upright more than 20 min for the last 2 weeks and the second I was healthy enough to actually get out and make videos I did - my deepest apologies for getting excited about a line of shoes I’ve been looking forward to trying for the last month
