I'd reconsider the Max Belt. With the minimum amount of energies attached (1 on Espy and 2 on Char EX) you'll be doing 60 (base attack) + 60 (Char's 2 energy) + 50 (Belt) = 170 x 2 (weakness) and it's enough to KO.
Max belt can be nice for the zard match up for sure but I feel like that match up is already in the decks favor. Plus outside of that match up it doesn't allow you to hit the numbers you need most the time to one shot something. I feel like prime catcher just comes up for often and also gives you more options to pull targets that are set up to KO your giraffe. So max belt isn't bad I just think catcher is more useful more often
This meta has been tough for me to find a good deck! This seems like it's exactly what I need and have been looking for! Love Farigiraf and Espathra so definitely gonna give this one a go!
@@professorgnome I'm playing it literally right now as I'm typing this! First game with it is against a United Wings and it just *walls* it hahaha! Loving it!
Three questions regarding this deck: 1) Do you prefer going first or second as I find what while it is an evo deck, you do want a supporter first a lot of the times I feel cause you need that burst for set up? 2) Do you ever find that you want to run Pokegear or Squawkabilly in the deck just to get the deck out of the early game sometimes? I've been testing this deck and while it can wall when it gets going, I find theres a fair amount of games where the hands feel disjointed. If so what would you cut? 3) If you were to run a Mewtwo Ex for the deck what would you cut? Thanks for the content. This deck has given me something to think about
So for me I prefer going second with the deck more often so I can take advantage of the EVO TM, But overall going first does not hurt the deck. You also can want to go second because we are looking to counter things like future hands and making them go first can hurt them as well. I dont really love squakabilly in the deck just because of bench space but Pokegear could be a fine addition to the deck to the deck to help sure up some hands, I would look to cut an ultraball, one mist energy if you want, or a normal energy since 9 will work just as good as 10 Or even a copy of earthen vessel. All of these are also options to cut in order to run a mewtwo ex in the deck. You could also cut one flittle and just do a 3-3 line over a 4-3 but I personally prefer the 4-3. Hope that helps and im happy your enjoying the content!
Been playing a similar deck but using Banette ex instead of the giraffe. Something I've found that dominates Lugia is Mewtwo ex. Synergizes well with all the psychic energy you'll have using Xatu
I've been using this deck for a few days now and I'm currently in Master League just from it. So many match ups are either Charizard Ex or Future Box and this dominates against both. The greatest struggle has been against Lugia/Cinccino since they can easily one shot you and you can't slow them down. Any ideas on this?
We have talked about that a bit in the comments, some people started running a copy of mewtwo ex to be able to hit for weakness on lugia and get faster KOs there to try to take them out of the game early so have one copy could be good. Or looking for another copy of boss to try to take the arcs off the bench is kinda the best way to go but it is for sure one of the harder match ups.
I’m running 3/3 Farigiraf Ex Line with 2/2 Espathra EX line. I have 3/3 Xatu line and added Bannette ex for fun. Also have Mimikyu and MeW. Along with Cleffa and Radiant Grenenja. I added 2 Eri and 2 counter catchers. So much fun tbh

@@johnblack1877 if are saying just espathra without Farigiraf then Chien pao ex is the way to go since after it attacks it will never have energy on it and you can always attach as many energy as you want so getting past its ability is no problem. Outside of that None basics pokemon/single prize attackers can also be a strong option, or really anything that can attach energy quickly enough and is able to KO with low energy. Since you hit for weakness even using something like a basic Entai V since you can set it up pretty fast it can live one attack and as long as headquarters is not on the board.
@@professorgnome makes sense. But then Farigiraf beast Chien and Gougin Fire pretty, pretty hard. I was playing this deck, and it works well. But why Farigiraf and not Mimikyu? Why is Farigiraf better than Mimikyu? Is it about its attack? Mimikyu doesn’t do any significant damage.
@@johnblack1877 The very simple answer is that 1) Farigiraf is cool and new so i wanted to use it lol but also 2) Most people have some answer in the deck for mimikyu that can KO it pretty easy, but since Farigiraf hits harder and is much harder to KO they can use random single prizers to KO you. For example Chien pao just uses radiant greninja or baxcalibur to get past you and there is not much you can do about it. But with farigiraf its not an issue. That being said I think running one copy of Mimikyu could still be a great idea.
That one is the hardest match up for sure, I would try to focus on KOing the archeops as fast as possible to take them off the board. If you cant do that then focus on using Espathra ex in the match up but it can still be a hard.
One other option someone had talked about is if you are really struggling and running into the match up alot a copy of mewtwo ex can be really strong since you will hit lugia for weakness and it can be powered up very quickly. Can help the match up if you want to make an edit to the deck.
