The black and white Showcase and Essential formats were great for aspiring comic artists. I even learned a few Terry Austin tricks through an Uncanny X-Men Essential!
Gil Kane my favourite artist ever.Bought this when it came out but hardly looked at it since I thought the colours were too bright and had most of the originals. That What If issue with the Avengers is the best art I have ever seen and my favourite comic art ever.Great review!
marvel visionaries and the essential lines two reprint lines I miss. I love Kane's anatomy sketches and layouts.

Love Gil Kane, especially his Spider-Man and Atom. Can always spot his style. So good.
In the 70s he did hundreds of Marvel covers but not enough interiors, which was maddening to me.

Thanks! :)
When I first started drawing as a kid, What If issue #3 was my Holy Grail for anatomy reference. More so than my anatomy text books. Good video Drew.
Thanks! I didn't realize I was yammering for four minutes until I finally opened the darn book to show!
