I don’t know which stories are the best, but there is one thing I know for sure: If you are not capable of writing your own story, other people will write it for you.
"Give the audience 2 + 2 and not 4" - it reminds me of how almost every story is also a narrative of wanting, and once a sense of fulfillment is reached (or not in some cases, of course), the story ends. It's similar with life; we are never fully satisfied, we're always lifted by more longing, wonder, curiosity. In reality, the best stories seem to be the unfinished ones. Then again, we can't really define those things, since one person sees a beginning where another sees an end. It's this constant loop of catch and release, layers and hooks, that somehow bind us together, even though we interpret everything in such different ways.
That's brilliant! This reminds me of one of Jordan Peterson's lectures where he said that humans don't experience positive emotion unless we have an aim and can see us progressing towards that aim. But, he says, it's not exactly attaining the aim that makes us happy (or at least not miserable), but the pursuit of that aim, because once we attain it we're eager to find another one. And the bigger claim that he makes is that having an aim is the only thing that truly fights suffering. And we see this in some of the best stories where the main character is surrounded by tragedy, yet the narrative progresses anyways by the protagonists central goal.
I like how you worded this. I recently read a book that stayed on my mind heavily and it was because to me, the story was unfinished. The characters received an ending they didn't want.
the mind discovers reality through sensory perception and historical physiological exposure. people live in a state of hypnosis, zoned out fantasizing about better version of a similar experience that they previously had. the mind filling in the 4 from the 2 + 2 illusion... the mind makes things more then what really is, whether it's scarier or happier, it will amplify the baseline reality into to something more then what it really is, leading to disappointment. also people want make surplus, so after they reach a new surplus, they are finish with that piece and what to gain more, so they want to put that one away and search for a new better version or something novelty altogether. maximize your genetic copies into the future generation and self preservation are big forces in human life. life is all about = (hypnotic state: search/explore, find/discover, play/repeat) hedonic adaptation is why you get tired of an experience, it helps keeping you going forward. you would have less experiences if you were hypnotized in place over a mud puddle for years on end. hope is dopamine, without hope, no dopamine... no dopamine, no motivation = starve to death
My toddler usually story tells. He is just 3 years old. And the way he expresses, his words are powerful, very vivid. Sometimes I capture it in video, but mostly not because he gets the camera and the story telling is interrupted. Just uploaded one.
I was hearing a podcast and the way he was telling stories i fell in love with his storytelling and that's made me to come here and learn that amazing art too

I’ve been trying to create my own storyline, but it’s so difficult to decide what it should be about, what characters and type of world should my story have. I was extremely inspired by the realistic and detailed story of Attack On Titan, and I’ve been wanting to create my own Anime, but writing a story is so much more difficult than I imagined.
It's definitely hardest to get started, I completely understand and agree but if you have the passion and inspiration to even attempt a story on the scale of AoT then that's amazing! Keep focused, never give up and believe in your self and your decisions, this is your story and your world, just give it the right care and attention and I'm sure you'll reach your goal :)
Start by recording daily things. Give yourself a simple topic and write about it. Be in a room or sometimes take a walk and talk to yourself. That's how you learn.
Fun Fact: AoT has also brought me to this video! I think you shouldn’t give up on that dream and that you should pursue that goal! Have you any idea by now of what your story will be about?
Excellent video! I am a Grant Writing professor and a Business expert. Storytelling is a critical element to long-term success. For business there is a little known formula that dramatically increases success. It's called The Romance-Finance factor. The Romance part is to engage the audience and can include your "Why". But that is not enough. You have to show the Finance part. That is, proof that you have a viable business or business idea. Many people focus on only one part, thereby losing the trust of their audience (bankers and investors).
It’s about captivating people you meet and talk with. Get them to visualise your story and paint pictures about what you saw how you felt. Draw them in to your world! Transport them into another universe.

He sucks at defending capitalism and continusly uses weird dog whistle words like 'western civilization' to 'other' minorities and signal that they are the superior race. He literally believes in the race IQ. Says a lot of dumb shit about female pshycology, based on tradcon philosophy rather than research. overall, he's a messy guy with 10 bad ideas for every good idea he has. your videos are really great but i don't see why you need to cite peterson when there are better psychologists out there that make the same point, and probably better articulated.

I do agree JP is very intelligent and even open minded. When I first discovered JP, it was from his talks on how to take control of your life, so my intro to him was pretty good. I used to like a lot of his work, and still appreciate what he gives in terms of organizing one’s life. A lot of the quotes you cite from peterson are his better works, like the one about realizing life is a struggle and accepting that (you cited that one in the shadow vid), and the vid you made about him (stand for your truth) again, is his better side so I understand your point in bringing him up. But JP is polarizing because outside of his self improvement and talks on archetypes, he’s very general and hyperbolic and contributes a lot of unnecessary commentary in regards to the ‘culture war’ in North America. Yes he’s open minded, but he also never outrightly disagrees with a lot of the white supremacist / sexist talking points his followers agree with, out of fear of alienating his audience. One example is the MGTOW thing; once JP was asked about MGTOW, and he harshly criticized MGTOW as a pathetic group. Which was fine, but then he got a lot of backlash from his audience for that, so he quickly went on air and denounced his previous criticisms of the group and said he actually sympathized with them. He never pointed out the flaws in their ideology, he just went along with them. When asked about the race IQ, he never talked about the obvious shortcomings of that study, and instead danced around the subject, too afraid of touching on the topic yet showing people he agreed with it. He talks about 'speaking your truth,' but always conforms to what his extremist audience wants to hear. For me personally, my problem with him comes a lot from his fans. What skyrocketed JP to fame was his fear mongering regarding trans pronouns in Canada, so it’s not wrong to say that a big portion of his audience is very conservative (not all obv, but the loudest sure are). You are a fan of JP because of his self improvement talks so obv. I’m not talking about fans like you, but many, many people like him because he affirms their bias against trans people or women. A lot of people hate him because specifically of that, and that’s why there are some people who don’t want to hear him cited. But you know, there is nothing wrong with being inspired from him, I would be very hypocritical to say there is, since I literally started cleaning my room wayyy more often after hearing him (lol), but yeah Sorry this was so long, I just wanted to clarify my position from my 1st comment! :D

Which was fine, but then he got a lot of backlash from his audience for that, so he quickly went on air and denounced his previous criticisms of the group and said he actually sympathized with them. He never pointed out the flaws in their ideology, he just went along with them. When asked about the race IQ, he never talked about the obvious shortcomings of that study, and instead danced around the subject, too afraid of touching on the topic yet showing people he agreed with it. He talks about 'speaking your truth,' but always conforms to what his extremist audience wants to hear.
For me personally, my problem with him comes a lot from his fans. What skyrocketed JP to fame was his fear mongering regarding trans pronouns in Canada, so it’s not wrong to say that a big portion of his audience is very conservative (not all obv, but the loudest sure are). You are a fan of JP because of his self improvement talks so obv. I’m not talking about fans like you, but many, many people like him because he affirms their bias against trans people or women. A lot of people hate him because specifically of that, and that’s why there are some people who don’t want to hear him cited.
But you know, there is nothing wrong with being inspired from him, I would be very hypocritical to say there is, since I literally started cleaning my room wayyy more often after hearing him (lol), but yeah Sorry this was so long, I just wanted to clarify my position from my 1st comment! :D
