Can we just talk about the music change for a second? Like instead of having all this electronic stuff in the background its acoustic and electric guitar and an actual drum set. It makes the song sound so much more mature and I hope they release a version we can get. This better be what happens live.

Man, the music in this version is even more raw than the original. The simple rock guitar in the background is so much more solemn and an angry cry out for someone to care. And the more I watch this one MV, the more I'm noticing, so that's super fun. Keep blowing me away, Bangtan Boys.~

Guys I think i finally understand what fake love is all about. This song isn’t even about love it is about self appraisal (self evaluation) and loving oneself.
The entire song is about them trying to hide a facade. From ‘for you I can pretend to be happy when I am sad’, we can see that v is ready to hide his true self, if it makes his true self happy. He is ready to hide himself for fake happiness. That is why it is fake love. He is ready to do anything to hide his true self.
When jk looks down at jimin through the mirror, it can symbolize the fact that jimin’s true personality is trapped in an emotionless room and although we(army) can’t see it., the members definitely know the true jimin.
And when v says ‘make me your doll’ he is talking about his fake personality or a facade that he has put on. He is ready to be his own prisoner if it makes his true personality happy of being hidden.
The water consuming jimin symbolizes that his true identity is being washed away. He is becoming someone he doesn’t want to be and his facade is overpowering his true self.
Suga wants his fake personality to be burnt so he is happy with the prospect of dying in the fire. That’s why he is smiling. He doesn’t want his fake personality to win over his true self. Or the fire could symbolize the inner turmoil he is going through and once again only the members know about it or are trying to know about it.
Towards the end, bts isn’t joining a cult lol. They are putting on masks to cover their true selves and are trying to escape reality but the wall closes trapping them with the duality of their lives. They are forever trapped behind the wall of reality and are forced to fight their inner demons.
Therefore, this song isn’t even about love but about self love, appraisal, and acceptance.(that is why the album is called love yourself)

I knoww i just found out yesterday and was completely dumbfounded like i am a person who loves theories and loves looking at things in different ways and even in fake love i used to look at the lyrics more without knowing the whole mv was part of something more so when i found out i was so excited and curious, so right now i have started watching The webtoon Save me then imma watch the mv then other videos explaining theories and then read the comments!!!

I highly recommend to first check out "SAVE ME" on the app Webtoon. If you want to dig a bit deeper, there's 2 books called "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: The Notes 1" and "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: The Notes 2." They're available in English, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.
In BTS albums, there's these notes that come inside with them called "花樣年華 The Notes." The thing is they're only in Korean and they're not included in every album (ex: BE, Skool Luv Affair Special Addition, BTS World OST, etc..).
Also, there's a video related to the storyline called "BTS Love Yourself Highlight Reel" posted by HYBE LABELS.

Even though no one is going to read this and this is kind of unrelated, I just wanted to talk about the two identities that RM was talking about whether or not you know I should live as Kim Namjoon or RM (in episode 6 and airplane pt 2), sometimes, I feel the same way.. I feel like I'm showing certain parts of myself to others, and other parts of myself to the rest of the people that I know. I kind of realized that people who have a multiple personality disorder - I have nothing against this - they tend to not realize you know how their emotions are like different people and not just a part of them as one emotion. I feel like most people, in a similar way, experience this. I'm not saying that we all have a problem, but you know just that sometimes, when we show ourselves a different way to different people every time, I feel like that's how we are. I took this situation as embracing it, you know, that the different times when we react to other people or present ourselves as, for example, our UA-cam username, nickname, fake name, or real name is still all a part of who our individual personality is like. In a sense, even though you know we have this thing that oh I'm in school as _____, but at home I'm ______, but in the world I'm like ______, it's still a part of the whole person and soul that we are even though their are different aspects of the person we are. I'm sorry if this sounded dumb, but I just wanted to express my opinion on this topic. Thank you, and I love you BTS.

I simply adore this particular version because it possesses more hidden things and clues we've never encountered in the original version.. Because the original was vaguely unclear with confusion..... Like for example the collapse running scene also the Object in V's hand that altered into calm dust... I love this because it more added into it instead of a being a weird experience

Omg! Now that it's an extended version and different scenes, I've noticed a lot more! Like when Jungkook opens the door with the key and is lead to a room with the guy with the robe and mask. Well, don't know if you guys already know, but it's apparently not a person behind it but just the clothes. Guys I think I finally understood the meaning of the video and the song, I wrote a whole explanation with 2 steps : 1. The video and 2. The meaning + lyrics
It's just an idea of it, sorry in advanced if I misunderstood some parts :
Video :
At first, we see Jin in a room with a flower in a kind of "box".
When Jin closes the curtain, behind this window is Jungkook.
In another scene, we see RM looking in the mirror and behind this mirror is Jungkook.
After we see J-Hope in a toy room, And behind the door is still Jungkook.
Then we see Jimin who is also in a room and Jungkook is above him and sees him.
We also see in the next scene V in a room, full of small mirrors or phone (I'm not sure) and Jungkook sees him too.
They are all locked in a room, Jungkook is in a dark room but he can see all his friends stuck, alone.
In the next scene, Jungkook is in a rather empty place but we find the "box" without the flower on sand and in the background a waterfall.
He bends down and takes the sand in his hands, lets it slip from his hands and we are shown the shadow of Jungkook, at that moment petals fly from his hands. After, a hidden door in the waterfall opened.
In Jimin's room, water comes out of the wall, that of Suga, the room burns, we see J-Hope being sucked by snickers and in that of V, "phones" start flashing and behind is a wall where its written "save me".
Jungkook enters this mysterious room that has just opened and meets a person in a black dress with a mask.
Jungkook is in another place, in black dress and join other people with masks, in turn he puts the mask and walls falls on them.

The flower represents a dream.
Everyone is locked in a room because they are stuck in another personality and because of that they do not know themselves anymore.

When Jungkook arrives in this place with the waterfall, we see that the flower is no longer in the "box" because "this dream" could never achieve . By taking the sand he opens a secret door, he meets this man who is a stranger in a black dress with a mask, after, Jungkook is in another place and will join the other people. These people are all strangers because they wear a mask, and in turn he also puts on the mask.
These people are the members of the BTS group who hide behind a mask, that is to say, their true personality. And the wall falls on them because it will be so for "always", stuck in the skin of another person they do not know.
The lyrics have a hidden message. "Fake Love" can replace "Fake Identity", they say that like looking in the mirror they do not recognize themselves , they can pretend to be happy when they are in pain etc...
We all know they are talking to one person or something but who or what? And "this dream" can represent freedom.
I think they are talking about their career because they are all ready to give up their true face for music but they're getting sick of hiding themselves.
