I love when Rick looks up at the bridge at the end and doesn’t see Lori (where he previously saw her) Lori always appeared when he was making the wrong decision such as kicking out Tyreese’s group and gathering the wire to tie up Michonne and deliver her to the Governor.
He is making the right decision by letting the citizens of Woodbury live in the prison and he doesn’t see Lori appear this time I love that.

You're the first reactor I've seen mention that he doesn't see Lori anymore because he is saving people. That's exactly it. He's doing the right thing, so he no longer sees her. She would appear when he was making the wrong decision, and subconsciously knew he was making the wrong decision. Now, he knows he's making the right choice, so he looks up and doesn't see her. She was his own way of telling himself whether he was doing the right thing or not. Now, he's at peace with his decisions.

    Fun Fact:
Season 3 started their 1st episode with an eye of a walker.
Season 3 started their last episode with the eye of the Governor.

24.59 i love that small little look at Andrea's wrapped up body on the truck as Beth and Carol look at it, and the music. Rick just nods and silently acknowledges to Carol and beth that it is Andrea.

I've been waiting for this episode!
When I first saw this episode, I instantly and fully agreed with what Carl did. He's a younger kid than the one he shot. The guy was told to drop his gun and he didn't, instead he tried to hand it over to Carl, the kid clearly younger than him. Instead of, for example, Hershel or Beth or instead of just dropping the gun to the ground like he was told to do.
Handing the gun over to Carl, of all people, would've enabled him to get close enough to overpower him and still kill all three of them. So I can definitely see what Carl was thinking and I think he was in the right here. He weighed the risks and made his decision accordingly, probably saving his, Hershel's, and Beth's lives.
If the guy had kept his distance and went to drop his gun like asked and THEN he was shot, then I would've thought differently.

Alot of people didn’t like this episode, and sure it isn’t everything i hoped for it to be but i think it was a solid enough season finale. And i’d be much more mad if this was the final episode with The Governor which obviously isn’t the case

Since you're already into Season 4, I think it's safe to give you some interesting behind-the-scenes info about this episode. Showrunner Glen Mazzara (Seasons 2 and 3) was fired after filming was finished on Season 3 (for multiple reasons). After that, the new showrunner (Scott Gimple) re-wrote Andrea's death and brought the actors back to film a different ending for her. She still died in the original ending, but it was a lot more bleak than the one you saw in this episode.
Here's how the actor who plays Milton described it: "Originally, the beating scene that started the episode wasn’t there. Originally, I showed up and was led into the room where Andrea was…and then [The Governor] shot me in the stomach, completely unexpectedly.… There was a lot more of Milton trying to open the door and him trying to free her from the chains. And then there was a section where he was going to wrap the chain around the neck and try to choke her to death before he turned so she wouldn’t have to deal with Walker Milton, or Biter Milton, as it were.…They both desperately wanted for that to work but at that point he had bled out so much. So he pulls and pulls and pulls but he doesn’t get it done and he falls against the wall and is passed out. And he never comes back from that until he turns into a walker…And then at the end of that, it was just Tyreese and someone else who found her. Rick and Daryl and Michonne weren’t there. So it was essentially the same idea, except you saw me taking chunks out of Laurie Holden in that version.”
And here's what the actress who plays Sasha had to say about it: “Wow, that scene was something else. Sasha and Tyreese are on guard in Woodbury, everybody’s gone to the prison to do the raid where they got defeated, and we’re back behind taking care of the people that were left behind. And we hear screaming, we hear noises, and we go and we seek it out and we find her. She’s in this torture chamber. And so we walk in and we say, ‘Oh my gosh, who did this? How did this happen? Who did this to you?’ And of course, we deduce that it was the Governor. We unchain her, we see that she’s bitten. She wants a gun. She says, ‘Give me a gun. Give me one of your guns.’ Tyreese doesn’t want to do it. He’s like, ‘No, no,’ but she’s like, ‘No, I’ve made up my mind. Give me a gun. I’m going to end this.’ It was very endearing and it was quite heart-wrenching, this scene, because to find her at that point in her life, at the end, especially we were not that familiar with her-Sasha and Tyreese, I mean-so to come to someone and to find them in the most vulnerable moment of their life, it was hard. The scene, it had a serious depth to it.
The actress continued: “And it was respected, the magnitude of the moment. It was extremely heavy. And we knew this was the last moments of her life, and so we were extremely respectful. Once she talked us into giving her the gun, it was her funeral. It was a memorial service to her. We handed her the gun and we let her be. There was also a moment where Sasha’s cradling Andrea in her hands after we unchain her. And it’s a to-do to get all the chains off of her, and we’re literally cradling her and Sasha says, ‘We’re not going to leave you here,’ which is a serious arc for Sasha from the first episode where she’s ready to leave Donna, who is a part of their camp. It spoke to her journey and where she ended up. And she says, ‘No, I want you to give me the gun and I want you to leave me.’ And so we do, and Sasha and Tyreese stand outside of the door and hear the gun shot and share a look with each other, and that was the end of the scene. It was extremely powerful.”
Personally, I'm really glad they changed the original ending. As frustrated as I got with Andrea, she didn't deserve to die alone that way. I'm glad Michonne, Rick and Daryl were there for her at the end, and she got that bit of closure with them.

  • @BenRai2k
    @BenRai2k 2 роки тому +2

In the original ending there were no pliers. Andrea asked Milton to strangle her with the chains, before he died so she wouldn't have to be bitten. Milton died mid-way through. Milton came back and rips a chunk off of her arm. Eventually, Sasha and Ty find her, and she begs Sasha to give her her gun, so she can kill herself. Andrea never met Michonne or Rick again. This episode was partially re-written by the next showrunner, to alter the Andrea scenes as a favour to Laurie Holden that plays Andrea, as she wasnt happy with Andrea being a complete victim in the original ending. There used to be a behind the scenes clip on here where you could see Andrea physically bitten.

Unlike most I actually loved Andrea and was gutted she was killed off Season 4 has some great character development and plots and I’d have loved to have seen her growth I liked how the small piano jingle that played during her death was also the same music as Dale’s death theme uniting them Andrea’s final words of I tried not only means she tried to prevent the Governor and Prison war but she also tried at life instead of just committing suicide She died now she had purpose to save Woodbury It was sad to lose 2 original female characters in one season both Lori and Andrea whom both died never having killed another human being ultimately making them some of the most innocent characters to die and still holding on to some of their humanity.

In the comics, Lori is still alive and runs away with the baby. The Governor sees that and shoots her which in turn ends up killing the baby as well (collateral). Members of Woodbury that participated in the attack see this and lose respect for him so they decided to kill him instead and the war ends. * I mightve forgot some details cuz I haven't read the comics in years*

I still miss Andrea she was never meant to die in the finale the showrunner Glenn Mazzara who obviously didn’t know what to do with her just decided to kill her off for shock value which I thought was a dumb idea I was happy they fired him for that the actress Laurie Holden admitted that she hated how they wrote her character in Season 3 plus she admitted what happened with Andrea’s death behind the scenes she is still alive in the comics at this point and Andrea and Rick end up together in the comics Andrea was originally gonna make it to Season 8 but sadly what happened behind the scenes towards the end of this Season prevented that from happening today I still think killing her off was an awful decision and still to this day I still miss Andrea.

Sidenote, this is one of my favorite episodes because it ends on a wholesome note vs. a strong cliffhanger-type, where there's episode resolution, they saved everyone, Lori's spirit conflict is resolved, and the group is making good decisions again in the eyes of their humanity and I love it

    • @roseofthegarden_

True but Carl is just a kid, seeing things through black and white eyes. He isn't wrong.
He _didn't_ kill that walker --> it killed Dale.
Rick _didn't_ kill Andrew --> his mom Lori died
Rick _didn't_ kill the Governor --> Merle got killed
Carl has several examples in which choosing _not_ to take out those that have been shown to be dangerous or ops, has come back to bite them in painful and devestating ways. So he wasn't going to let it happen again. And that kid was older than Carl. Carl knows what he himself can be capable of at his age, what makes anyone think that kid isn't just as capable?

    Bro you gotta watch LOST.
Breaking Bad is definitely an OG player that showed how GOOD TV shows could be, production wise, story wise. When compared to movies TV shows were after thoughts when it came to like, big blockbuster production values.
However LOST predates BB , and I won’t say it’s better. But it’s up there, and it is the OG OG, that helped set the standards for what a series could be. Before Game of Thrones, before Breaking Bad, before Walking Dead, There was Lost. It was THE FIRST contemporary show to capture the screens of people all around the country, maybe the world.
    (Hope you liked my pitch.)

The people of the one-eyed were the most common robbers, so they fled when they met resistance. The characters from the second series encountered far more dangerous people, such as drug cartel killers, military, crazy religious fanatics, and what not psychopaths and power lovers. Rick got lucky with the Governor. Seriously.

Love the music at the end of this episode. So poignant. Sad for what's been lost, yet full of hope for what lies ahead. Bear McCreary is a boss and deserves all the recognition for his awesome TWD scores.
Just some fun trivia...some fans put together a detailed timeline for the series. Starting with finding the prison in 3x1 and ending with bringing the Woodbury survivors there to join Team Family, Season 3 covered about 21 days. TWD sure knows how to pack a lot of action and drama into a short amount of time (at least from the characters' perspective). In fact, the show usually feels like it covers a much longer period of time than it actually does. It blew my mind to realize that, by the end of Season 3, it's been just under nine months since Rick woke up in the hospital. And about seven of those months passed off screen during the time jump between Seasons 2 and 3. 😂

Like a lot of times you think “what a shane thing to do” and I have no doubt Rick thinks the same thing when trying to make a decision. I.e. do I kill these prisoners rn no question? Okay, I have to get it out of my system. I wanted Andrea to go. I could not stand her. When the Governor chased her down a couple of episodes before this, I was rooting for him, not her. From the beginning, when she couldn’t turn a gun safety off, when she shot Daryl, caused Beth to almost kill herself, got with the Governor, and whined, and whined, and WHINED. So much of her dialogue was “woe is me.” I saw this as a new beginning when I first watched it. She was dumb, annoying, naive, and manipulated. This is my favorite show, but she is my least favorite character, maybe of all time from anything. From her first line to her last, she’s just a depressing, depressed, hopeless, turd. “I tried.”
I loved your thing about her not freeing what was probably her dominant hand first. Even in her final moments, she was slow, not intelligent enough to hurry or free her right hand.
“We’re dead, all of us… because of you.” -Andrea to Rick
    If she only knew…
