- DUMC Music Ministry is excited to announce the talented Fernando Ortega will be performing in the Sanctuary on Friday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m. Juan Fernando Ortega is a singer-songwriter in contemporary Christian music. He is noted both for his interpretations of many traditional hymns and songs, such as "Give Me Jesus," "Be Thou My Vision" and "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty," and for writing clear and easily understood songs such as "This Good Day." Our musicians at DUMC have sung some of his music in worship.
Just a brief story…In 1995 my husband of 31 years was in a horrible tractor accident and died 30 days later after being in an ICU in the medical center of Houston. During that 30 days I got to see the church of Jesus Christ up close and personal. People from every walk, Denomination and persuasion came and expressed their concern. There was so much food catered right there in the waiting room to our family and just the most beautiful expressions of gratitude for a life well lived. During the months ahead in some of the darkest days of my life at some point I heard the song “Give me Jesus” by you, Fernando Ortega. The Holy Spirit has ministered to me through this song ever since and I don’t wanna hear anyone else sing it b/c you bring such warmth and genuine feeling to this old spiritual. During those years of grieving I was blessed to minister in my church through music every Sunday and one week it was obvious that this was the song we were to use but because there were no instrumentalists, I used your recording of Give me Jesus and had a dear lady friend in our church on her knees praying on stage before the small congregation. It was so powerful as I harmonized along with you and people heard this amazing heartfelt rendering. Jesus is more real to me because of this song…thank you for keeping it alive♥️🙏♥️

All Glory & Praise for your Music Ministry Fernando! Praising God for His Faithfulness to His children! This song has kept me alive and in the Arms of Jesus thru many many suicidal moments. As one who in a 'past life' was a music minister for 30 years, just hearing this Heavenly Music has birthed a spark within me to get my Guild out of its case, invest in some fresh strings, and strum away to the Heavenly Realms! Praise God for His Faithfulness to His children! 🤗🙌🙏🏻🎶🎼🎵🥰🌻
God also used his music to comfort me during times of loss. In 2006 our daughter Sarah was killed by a drunk driver when she was just 19. I listened constantly to the hymns by Fernando. One that most comforted me was "IF I FLY" I always turn on the hymns especially when I am feeling like darkness is closing in from all around us in this fallen world. Only Jesus can deliver us from this world full of sickness, pain, death, destruction and everything evil. We have no other HOPE but HIS Promise to return.
Grew up in Africa listening to Fernando Ortega...I know most of his songs by heart but 2024 is the first time I'm putting a face to the name and songs....this is a testament to the power of the songs and God's praise. God bless you for touching so many lives and leading many to God.

I remember when I was a young woman in my early 20's in south Florida... all those years ago... I rode my bicycle to the Christian store and picked up a few CDs. I am so glad, so eternally grateful one of them was Fernando Ortega. He has been a major blessing and influence on my entire life. I love you!

I have been touched by Fernando's sensitivity and command of material he uses his hands his heart and the instrument he uses and then his voice is like maple syrup flowing gently over a plate of pancakes perfectly in all directions

Fernando, your worship songs are by far the best ones I’ve ever known in my generation! I always have your music streaming when I want to sing to the Lord, or to contemplate how to love the Lord, and particularly when trying days happen, I play your albums and instantly have a serenity, peace, and closeness to God. Your music soothes my soul where I am transported to a place where there are no worries or concerns-just a place of peace to praise our Savior. Thank you most earnestly for sharing your gift with the world! Heaven knows how much we all need such times to be with our Father in worship and prayer.

I thank God for all the beautiful, biblically sound music Fernando Ortega has produced. I tend to be easily distracted and music can slow me down so I can listen... truly listen. His music has helped me so much. We sing several of his songs at my church. "Let the Words of My Mouth", "Grace and Peace", "Open My Lips", "Children of the Living God", "Jesus, King of Angels", "Lord of Eternity"...I guess there are quite a few. I wish I could play and sing "Creation Song" for this week because it goes with the lectionary so well. May God continue to bless this man and his music.
Thank for sharing this video. Fernando Ortega is one of the greatest of all time. He is a throw back to the way Christian Artist use to minister in churches. Now its all about the money. Shortly this will change when Christians will be persecuted and only the ones who truly love the Lord will be signing without the show biz, glamor and fame. I saw Fernando about 10 years ago with my father just before he died of cancer. One day Fernando, my father and I will signing to Jesus in heaven. Can't wait.

Yes. When our parents passed it was very different for my siblings because I was first born. They were born when I was 13, 14, 16 years old. So I had 13 more years with my parents than my siblings did. So it was different for them than it was for me.

I am thankful that your church has shared this concert with all of us. Presently I am bluetoothing this video through my Echo Dot while preparing tomorrows message. Fernando is one of my (few) early Sunday morning companions who's music I stream while getting myself ready for church. Hearing that your congregation utilizes his compositions in worship makes me wish that I were in a position to visit and join with y'all in worship. you are my favorite artist, pianist, and singer of christian songs .no one sings give me jesus like you do! i am loving reading your bird book and looking at your photography. i was very surprised to read on page 18 of you believing the earth is millions of years old. i am not an expert but have learned much from reading the scriptures, listening to ken ham, and visiting the creation museum in kentucky. you might want to take your daughter ruby to the creation museum and ark exhibit for a learning vacation. genesis is the foundation of our christianity and the young earth is very fundamental to what we believe. hope to see and hear you again near bath, n.y. for another concert. keep on singing and using photography for GOd's glory.

Thank you. His songs are so Scripturally accurate, and I did not realize he had a couple of RAPTURE songs- 1 Thessalonians 4. SO many Christian songs are not using the name of JESUS, and they are singing about a different god. Stay close to Jesus daily because He is coming for His bride/church though we don't know the day and hour. We are in the Passover season, and Jesus is risen and alive in heaven at the throne of God- sitting at the right hand of the Father. The Bible says that if you get divorced, you are to remain single or else reconcile with your spouse- 1 Corinthians 7:10-11, and I hope that Fernando is doing that like I am. Come quickly Lord Jesus.

Fernando is real, like him or not, telling it like it is -- based on his current experiences & perceptions. I appreciate his self-effacing humor and humility. I'm sorry to hear him say he's divorced now. That's always a terrible trauma for all involved, including his little girl.

Where was this concert?
After reading historical biography on Fernando, he is not really grounded in the truth. He has been floating over the years from church denominations. But he gives the impression that he is a very nice simple person. I hope that he will ready for the coming of Jesus.

All those people really look pathetic with those masks. I really wished that all the religious institutions around the world would have put a lock down on the governments and would have continued to worship God according to their conscious. It nice to listen to nice music, but the sad reality is that the music is soon to end on planet earth. This are about to get much worst because people have fallen into a massive deception and have bow down to the Antichrist system who runs the show behind the scenes. Enjoy the music, but seek not only the Kingdom of God, but all It's righteousness also. We live in a lawless world that have forgotten God's precepts. You can love music, but love more the truth and seek it while the breath of life is in you so that you will partake of the FIRST RESURRECTION.

His faith shines through his incredibly beautiful music. There are more ways to spread the faith than “words” or talking. God gives us all different and unique gifts to share His Good News with others.

I am very disappointed in Fernando...I think his monologue was distasteful in the terms he used and was very shocked how far down he has come from truly ministering the Gospel and truth in his concerts and music 😔Revelation 2: 5 ❤
