I actually do like the compilation books. I’m just getting started with the adult coloring hobby. It’s really nice to get one book that has pages from several different books to try out. I can decide from there if I want to buy more books & which ones from that artist. I also don’t mind having a second chance if I mess one up because I color the pictures I really like first. It’s good to have options. I’m glad for that.
I have several Maria Trolle books. I actually like her older books more as well. I did still get her new book because I do enjoy coloring more simple pages in between the more detailed ones. Beautiful pages Shelly!

I totally agree! Compilation books seem to be the trend this past year. I don't know why one would want another book with the same pics, especially if you're a fan and have bought most books. I don't like being enticed to purchase by a few new pics and the rest old ones already in print. I'm not going to be buying her stars book either because I found it too simple. It reminds me of pics geared more towards a small child's level. Was disappointed in a flip thru of it. I don't feel these two books are going to sell very well for her. I don't see the reasoning behind compilation books. I love her older style. I have so many books now that I've become particularly selective on future book purchases and I also want to see a flip thru of all pages first. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Amazon would let us see all the pages before preordering! Your finished pics are beautiful!!

I guess compilation books are good for this who want to test out the art style or for someone who doesn’t want to get all the books. I had one Maria Trolle book in the past: Luna but it wasn't my cup of tea. I think indeed because of the very small elements. But Flora is on my wishlist for a while now!

Oh thank you! With regards to soft pastels, layering them up helps and used to use cotton pads which worked fine, but now I am using blender tools and they feel so smooth with them, so that might help too. 🤗💗
I do like her books but have struggled with the paper. I didn't love how Polychromos turned out. They did not blend/layer well. I will need to try again with my Albrecht Durer pencils

Polychromos are the best for small detailed items. You may have luck trying them
How do you apply pastel background so smoothly and uniform? As much as I’ve tried, it’s never uniform and smooth. Love your artistry!

I did not realise that poly boron is didn’t work well (I have never tried). Yes, definitely try out the Albrecht Dürers, they work good for me 🤗💗
