I am a photographer living just east of London, I shoot day and night imagery, the night imagery is with a tripod, I have been to New York several times and in my opinion its safer than London, no issues, I travel widely in Europe and my view is that London and England is just an utter mess, complete breakdown in law and order, an anything goes society, I spend a lot of time in turkey and its safe, now i feel happier away from England, the main difference i see in all European country's and the Americas is police visibility, you see the police they are proactive here the police arrive after the crime and then decide they cant or wont do anything, responsibility for law and order country wide and London is down to the home secretary, 14 years of multiple incompetent home secretary's and the CPS that must be paid a bonus to ensure any offences are downgraded or not going to court

Ireland already is. I went to Dublin last year and its now worse than London. Its a much smaller city than London, allowing it to be more rapidly changed.

@mjh5437 Scary, isn't it? I'm originally from Nottingham. Born 2002, I grew up there and was largely okay, always had a bit of a reputation for being rough. But the changes over the last 10 years have been massive and rapid. I left a couple of years ago as I had enough of the place and what it had become.

I visited New York shortly after 9/11. As you can imagine, the security was very high. I have never felt safer in a large city. I even walked from Columbus circle to Times Square for a burger at 2am in the morning on my own. I wasn’t hassled once. I don’t think I would want to do it today though.
I used to visit NYC often when I was younger. It was cool then. From what I’ve been seeing lately on the news and UA-cam, I’m better off not going anymore. It’s not the same.Neither am I. Couldn’t run these days if my life depended on it.

As a British American who has visited London and New York City, i think, in my opinion, London is safer than NYC .

I've lived in New York and have always heard it said that they have the largest police force in the world.
Paul first of all, The London police are busy at night due to having to paint all the cars the rainbow alphabet community colours. 2, did you go past 120th in new York, nigh 100st? Great video squire.

Very good video-good at getting people to talk to you. I came back to UK from China in March, after leaving an immaculate and ultra modern airport in Beijing, with underground taxi rank, with around 100 taxis lined up, to be disappointed with scruffy terminal 4 at Heathrow, with grubby toilets and only 2 taxis at the outside rank.
What was you experience like before the Beijing airport you flew from?
I have felt much safer in China, day and night, in various northern cities and rural areas, than some parts of the UK.

I went to New York in December 2014. I LOVED it - I was there for a week, and found all of the old haunts that my hero James Dean used to live. One of the loveliest things I did, was go to the Radio City Christmas show - it was so lovely, it made me cry!!! Went up the Empire State plus many other things. Fabulous.
Visiting for a week and living there will be very different experiences.
There is a police officer at every intersection in the centre major radius of NYC. Safe 24/7. If you go outside the radius at night. Different situation. Police keep watch on who enters Manhattan by car. So your interactions are with tourists and locals. Both are rich. lol. Thx P.T. Enjoyed it.

Maybe some in charge don't like to many police around, it would interfere with business interests some may say, New York is a 100 % safer than london, I was in New York taking Photographs with an expensive pro Canon Camera & lenses, never threatened, never felt threatened day evening or night, not even on a trip to the Bronx, I won't go to London, let alone, night time in London not a hope in hell., actually my most favourite place is Seville Spain so many no mess police around all armed, I'm totally happy there.
London is Safer than NYC! There are around 8 Million people in NYC and 9.5 Million in London. Last year London had 112 Murders and NYC had 394 Murders. London had 10,000 Robberies and NYC had 17,000 Robberies. The area Paul was in is Times Square which has Cops everywhere because it's the main Tourist area.

When we visited New York i felt 100z more safe than i do on a day out in london. Reason? Armed police. In all the major tourist areas like times square, 911 memorial and empire state we saw an air con porta cabin. 4 cops fully armoured and carrying assault rifles. The other 4 inside resting with an hourly swap over. Love it

London is safer than NYC despite what some people say. There is no neighbourhood in London that is as dangerous and has the levels of gun violence as Brownsville, East New York, Crown Heights in Brooklyn or parts of the South Bronx and Spanish Harlem. NYC is one of the safer big American cities but London is safer and ive lived in both cities, and Im from the UK.

Philadelphia is a great city but it has horrendous problems with gun crime and knife crime as well. There is nowhere in London is dangerous as some of the hoods on the North Side of Philly like Kensington and areas like Strawberry Mansion, Fairhill and anywhere around Temple University and North of Downtown Philly especially in the inner city districts, even South and West Philly have a lot of issues but North Philly has the worst neighbourhoods in the city.
You don't go into America's downtown areas if you want to see accurate representations of America.

I went to N.Y on my own loved it, Felt safe but took precaution's, didnt go out at night really did once to the theatre, walked home on my own, I did feel a bit uneasy. Alot of Brujas near central park trying to rip off tourists, I love American's find them open and friendly not snooty.

@@sammiehall4415 When I was much younger, I was taken by a group of older youths down a dark alley in Nottingham, so I certainly understand what can happen in those places. If you were alone, then I agree that being cautious would be a reasonable approach.
